Backup DTs and Ant Hill took a terrible inside step to run him out the lane the run was coming through.
-
Damn can we tamper with Williams and pay him to play his last year at Texas. He is their WHOLE offense tonight.

The rumor was Troy Omeire shared info with Carrington. Rumor was Troy was upset about not playing and still had a relationship with Carrington who he followed to Arizona state.
Jared Wiley would have also known the signs.
Those are the rumors I’ve heard. Never heard about somebody being removed from the facilities.
Also doubt GP would help the TCU staff. He loves the kids he recruited but hates the new staff. They replaced him and he gave Sonny a life line when he was jobless before he got the SMU job.

Yeah this one is confusing to me. Feel like he projects much better at safety and has since his recruiting days.He has profiled to safety long term since 12 and under football.

BJ Allen is just a weird situation. He is more athletic than Taffe and Thompson. He can’t be worse in coverage than Crawford.
Gary Patterson liked Allen in 22 and was telling coaches to get him ready to play big snaps in 2023. GP left and he got dropped to the back of the line.
Also Austin Jordan should be a safety right now. Must likely would be a starting safety if they would have moved him in the spring.

Terrance Brooks is doing what he's coached to do, I know that much. His father coached him to be a bully at the position who plays up on the LOS. What would that guy know, right? Anyway, he's made his view clear to some folks that he doesn't understand what in the fuck they are teaching or trying to do at CB.
The Texas secondary does not lack talent. There are problems with how the personnel is being managed, what they're being asked to do, and how that is being coordinated with the front seven. If it doesn't get addressed this offseason in some form, I'll be surprised and disappointed.
His dad expressed the usage concerns last year. Had some pretty direct convos during the bowl practices with certain members of the defensive staff.
Manny Muhammad’s camp feels the same way. They were skeptical of Joseph from the jump and not really liking the soft zones versus playing man. That was a point of emphasis during that recruitment.
Not sure if we need a new DC or changes in the secondary coaches. But there some disconnect. No way we change the DC so Sark got a decision to make in regards to Joseph and Gideon.

1. My boy Cam had some false start penalties, which I expect with the inexperience, but he looked really good out there. Gave up no pressures and really moving people in the run game. Campbell and Williams will be a monster right side running the ball next year. Proud of the kid. Now get back to work and get better.
2. Disappointed to not see BJ today. He can’t be worse than Thompson. Can’t be.
3. Can we raise some money for somebody on the D Line like we did for J Brooks? That D Line came to play and has some bad mofo. Need to start raising money now to get Murphy to stay.
4. Sark full of shit.

Cam was prepped to play big minutes at RT this week. Got first team reps later in the week. But coaches have told him and the family that Jones deserves the opportunity to test out the ankle and if he thinks he can go he will get the start.
BJ Allen got the most reps he has gotten in several weeks. There a chance he plays. He was just happy to get reps week honestly.

I doubt it happens because the optics of Texas firing Blake Gideon, but Jimmy Lake was an outstanding coach who put plenty of people in the league. He also knows how to match up the secondary with PK front 7. PK and Lake honestly need each other cause they were both at their best when they had each other.
2 minutes ago, HtownHorn said:Lake is currently the assistant HC for the Rams, not sure what coaching he's actually doing but there are probably other safety coaches available that can upgrade from Gideon without the off-field bullshit that comes with Lake.
I’d personally like to hire another Cornerback coach and move Joseph over to safety.

I didn't even know there was a round rock location but good point.
Right next to the Round Rock baseball stadium. They even had a drive through during the pandemic.

This. I have literally never taken an out of towner to Salt Lick and not gotten rave reviews. It's the entire experience including getting out of the city. Not everyone fucking lives in Austin/Hill Country.
It’s nice for out of town folks but makes sure you tell them to go to the right location. If they don’t know they might end up at the Round Rock location which doesn’t have any of the benefits of the trip to the original.

Stiles Switch on north Lamar is above average, plus not much of a wait.
Their smoked wings are awesome. Frito Pie is as well.

Anybody who mentions Salt Lick or Rudy’s deserves a fist fight.

Franklin's is the obvious one..
la BBq
Micklewait's
Interstellar and Terry Blacks
Joes's Bakery: East side Mexican... great brekfast tacos also
Matt's El Rancho: old School Austin staple for Tex Mex (Jalapeno Margarita is a must)
ATX Coccina/La Condessa if you want more upscale
This is a great list.
Franklin’s is still king but the line and wait make it an adventure that won’t work well with trying to make it to a 2:30 football game.
LA is our middle ground. Small line but still great BBQ. Intersteller is good but they have major lines since they made the top 10 list and it’s nowhere near the stadium. Terry Black’s is really popular and if you go after the game you don’t have to worry about them running out of food.
make sure you go to Gourdough’s Big Fat Donut while in Austin for something sweet. You can thank me later.

I’m adding to the Brooks fund today. He is the best player on our offense.

Gerry mentioned he sees himself as a one and done and staff thinks he’s a 2 year guy so they mutually walked away from each other.
RT is being truthful and straight up with kids. This is helping his reputation especially in Texas, after some important people in the state soured on the Texas program some because of Beard and the whole Holland situation. But sometimes in recruiting you gotta be a little slimy and tell kids/circles what they want to hear. I promise you Self is telling McNeeley whatever he needs to hear regardless if it’s true or not.

I don’t think anyone on this board should be allowed to discuss Blue until @closetojumping shows us proof he has shitted out the solid gold football he promised the board if Blue was still on the roster this year.

Hudson committed to Tech on his official visit. The Tech staff is actually getting frustrated that he hasn’t gone public.
IF Texas wins Saturday they have a list of recruits who they will be hitting up immediately, like coaches calling kids from the locker room. Could make for some interesting turns in some recruitments we thought were done.

On the other hand, didn’t Arkansas look super average against Rice Week 1 in 2021 and then beat our ass next week?
-
Campbell is my guy, a family friend and I love him to death and even I’m willing to admit he has looked terrible this first half. The whole line is having communication issues. Doesn’t matter that he can move people in the run game if he is not going to be assignment sound.
we look sloppy, uninterested and unprepared.
Quinn is doing nothing to make the cries for Murphy and Manning to go away. JT Daniels was also once believed to be a can’t miss QB prospect.
defense, defensive line, Worthy and the young guys look good.

If Milwee will be on the field do we know which offensive coaches will be in the booth?

Happy for Troy. He was getting some unbelievable hype behind the scene before the first injury. Doubt he has much speed left but he can be a big red zone target.
