For drug tests (which happen leading up to and during the playoffs), I think you get half a season for the first infraction, and a full season the second, if that's what this is

Is this the issue with him or just a guess?

According to a guy in the athletic department, Collins doesn't have the athleticism to play DE. I agree. He is a good athlete for an interior guy and at best average for a DE or ED.

Average play from the edge would be a major improvement for us.

  3. Nebraska should sign up for the Tom Herman - Hudson Card combo deal. I think Herman’s style would fit in Nebraska and the Big 10, and he would love to give card a chance to shine since he told the world card had Aaron Rodgers ability.

Behind paywall, thread by Mike Roach titled "Jake Langi Leaving"

The article mainly talks about how this may hurt the recruitment of the LB from Hawaii because Jake was very involved in that recruitment. Mike knows where Jake is going but wants to let him announce it himself.

A big hangup was he wanted to bring Sam Carter as his CB coach and Carter only had 1 year of on field experience (and ended up getting run out of Arkansas this past year because the players hated him).

Odom was the guy I wanted at DC.  I would have taken Carter for a year if it would have gotten us Odom. I think we had already hired or agreed to the secondary coaches thinking we had Muschamp tho, before we made the pivot to Odom.

Cam Williams got reps at LT. Wondering if they were just giving him a look there

Big Cam is going to outplay his recruiting rankings. A redshirt would do wonders for him but I’m not sure he will get it. He is expecting to play enough this year to use his redshirt.

Last season’s championship game is on, and it’s Bama 9-6 late in the 3rd… and I’m wondering when it all changes, because my recollection is Georgia ended up putting it on them pretty good.  The Tide is driving, 1st and 10 on the Georgia 29, and Billingsley misses a block, and Robinson is tackled for a yard loss. Two plays later, 3rd and 11, and Young scrambles under tremendous pressure, but somehow finds Agiye Hall streaking across the field at the 10… and Hall can’t catch the perfect throw. Georgia then blocks the FG, takes over and then drives 80 yards in four plays, take the lead and they never trailed again. Some mistakes, but they played a lot

You made a better choice than I did today. I watched the 2018 Big 12 championship today and been mad all damn day cause we blew that game and really was the better team.

I like Card. Seems like a good dude.

The problem I see is whenever you see a guy who later becomes a big time QB (or any position) as a freshman they will make mistakes, get beaten on, and lose games. But you never see them look scared to make a play. Never see them so frightened they look like they've shit their pants. Unfortunately Card looked exactly like that on the Arkansas field.

Colt, VY, hell even Applewhite, Simms, and Ehlinger I don't ever remember seeing that. Even Gilbert, as bad as he was in 2010, wasn't doing that. I don't see how Card has what it takes mentally to be a great QB at this level.

    This!

Shane showed up and was ready to ball. He struggled down the stretch after some injuries but he was never scared.

Sam had some WTF moments as a freshman that concerned me, but at least he made most of those while trying to make a play. You would rather your young QB try to make plays and make mistake than for them to be scared out their mind and freeze. There were plays to be made in that Arkansas game. Some big shots that could/would have turned the tide in that game. Even in the Kansas game Card was just going through the motions.

The type of QB training he has had is good for pros who have shown the dog and talent to make it to the next level. They have the basics down and those stupid ass drills are trainings for when things break down. Card hasn’t learned how to handle a pocket or to relax and move on to the second read.

  9. Texas canceled the open media window and the press time after practice at the very last minute. I’m hoping this is because somebody finally got upset about the BS articles and questions the texas beat reporters have been asking

I'm open to a bet on how many games Whittington plays in entirety this year. Let me know your total and what kind of money you want to put down on it. For anyone shrieking about the grim nature of this kind of bet, they can put me on ignore and get back to clutching their pearls on other subject matter.

I got 100 that he plays at least 8 games. I’m not willing to go super big money but I’ll definitely bet a round of cheap drinks.

Overshown has shown he can play in space, he can blitz, and if sees ball and chases ball he is good.

I have consistently criticized his ability to make timely reads, that said we have to give him some credit.

I don’t think he is terrible. I think he is overhyped and good at things outside of what his position asked for. Pairing him with Brock made it worse. I also agree that our defense didn’t help him at all. We looked ok until Jones went down. It went down hill after that.

I hope he balls this year and gets drafted high. Curious to see if having better line play or moving him around let’s him flourish. I believe that Ford will be our best LB this year.

I dont think the LBs are the worst. Ford was makign progress. Overshown is one of the most talented LBs in the country. He hasnt put it together or stayed healthy,  but the talent is there. I have said that the faults compounded the poor play. There wasnt a group on defense that made anyone better. It was a negative multiplier. Just getting average play on the edges will make the LBs look much better. The defense actually was not bad vs the inside run game. It was was brutal vs outside run game. Unfortunately, not everyone decided to be nice like KSU and mostly attack inside.

Overshown is a great athlete. Not a good LB up to this point. He hasn’t shown he is good at LB things. He is good in space but attacking and fighting off/through blockers? Making the right reads and gap integrity? Not saying he can’t improve with his first fulL offseason, just up to now he makes the flash plays but not the consistency needed from a top flight LB.

Luke knew where to be but he is just limited as an athlete so he can’t get there.

I remember people being excited about Richardson transferring in, but never heard anything about him once he got here. Anybody know what happened? Was he a guy that should have stayed in a lower division?
