Probably headed for a redshirt year considering he chose not to enroll early when he could have. Always thought that was a questionable decision on his part. Lefau and Hill seem to be ahead of him.

Burrell and Williams’ decision to not enroll early has hurt both in the short term, with it effecting Burrell more than Williams. They both would be in the two deep if they enrolled early. They still expect Williams to be a dog at safety. Burrell is better athlete than Hawaii but Hawaii now has the inside track to be the next MLB because he came in early and put the work in.

That kind of stuff happens from time to time. The thing that gives me comfort is that the vast majority of guys who pull stuff like that rarely work out. Not saying Hudson will be a bust, but I have never gotten the sense that he is quite on the level of a Johntay Cook or an Evan Stewart in terms of ability to take over a game.

    Bingo.

it happens all the time. I wrote a long ass synopsis of what was going on but I deleted it and I’ll keep it simple. They just didn’t expect some of the actions from this kids based on his family, who trains him and the relationship they thought they had. Also doesn’t make sense for Tech to be in on it because no amount of information or disinformation they get really helps them long term. Texas and Tech won’t play each other after this year and won’t become recruiting rivals on a constant enough basis for extra bullshit. They also aren’t a threat to really flip a bunch of Texas kids.

I guess last year we ended up pretty good at receiver in-state with Cook and Niblett, but it does feel like this is the 3rd straight cycle where WR recruiting will be a bit of a rollercoaster ride which is odd considering the friendly scheme and head coach being heavily involved recruiting that position. Having a 3rd WR coach in 3 years probably doesn't help. I did find it interesting that Gerry and Justin both mentioned last week that Chris Jackson being involved in the Hudson recruitment has us in better position than if Marion was still around.

Marion could recruit but let’s just say this, he related to a certain type of recruit. Hudson didn’t/ doesn’t really fit into the profile of a recruit that falls in line with Marion.

    ...who's Peavy?

Head Coach at Duncanville but also step father to Anthony Black who just finished freshman year at Arkansas and is now projected to be a lottery pick.

  5. 1. Arkansas so full of shit and I’m glad Ron screwed them over just like us. Without them using Peavy as a middle man and making crazy offers, Ron is on campus at Texas today.
    2. The fans need to be mad at Peavy. He put this together and got Ron to verbally agree to Arkansas. Ron to Arkansas been a done deal to the Arkansas coaching staff. They just were waiting on the NLI release. They actually encouraged him to visit GLeague to make it look like it wasn’t a straight Arkansas flip/tampering. Back fired on them. Guess Peavy doesn’t have the pull he thinks he does.

Thanks - this is part of what I heard. That it was mostly about Holmes coming in and how much he would see the field. I always assume that money is a part of it in some way but I also know very little.

Yeah but two coaches in particular did a really good job on the communication end to solve it during the Christmas break. I’ll check back in and see if it’s popping up again. Last time I checked tho people actually thought Brooks and Holmes were out playing Watts but it’s hard to bench a 12 game returning starter. Brooks should play a lot of snaps no matter what.

Some rumor is floating around that Terrance Brooks was considering the portal but has been talked out of it. Have seen literally zero substantiation but thought it was interesting.

I mentioned this in January. His family was concerned during bowl prep and bowl game timeframe cause he was basically the starter to end the season then they started Jamison in bowl game which was somewhat of a surprise. Add on top of that they added CB from Wake and playing time/fair competition was concern but that was fixed and he stayed. If it’s about money that’s a new issue but I’m sure they can fix that. He will help us win games.

  8. There were 2 defensive coaches who legit wanted to play Malik over Quinn last year. He can really sling the ball and everybody believes in his leadership ability. It will never happen because of the investment it took to get Quinn here and Malik hasn’t proven he can stay healthy.

Expect a few more retweet from him as well.

They say the interest is real but it’s “interesting” that it’s starting to ramp up before he hits campus this week.

He was also in town today because Duncanville was honored by the state’s house and congress. There are photos of him throwing up the Hook’em in the chambers.

Im “hoping” somebody was smart enough to make sure he knows how much he is wanted while in town today.

I always forget about him, but people keep talking him up. They think he's really well-developed from a coordination perspective and leveraging his body in the right way to make plays. I don't know how in the fuck that is known of someone before they've put the pads on, but okay.

I think it’s 100% BS but Chote is on record saying if the Poly LB was from Texas he would have been ranked higher than Hill.

Depth at corner/nickel is never not needed. An injury away from being on the 3/4th guy on the depth chart is always a possibility.

I get it. I think it’s more about what the coaches deal with behind the scene with parents/trainers and expectations around playing time. Guys start to question if you have a plan for them or value them if it starts to feel like you’re trying your hardest to replace them every chance you get. Brooks head is in a good place and the right conversations have been had with his family. But most people really think he is a 3 and done future pro as long as he can run well in combine type setting.
