  1. FOX News is PBS compared to Sinclair.

Sinclair commentator resigns after crude tweet about Parkland survivor David Hogg

A conservative commentator at a Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned television station in St. Louis has resigned after a statement he made threatening to sexually assault David Hogg drew harsh criticism and sparked the beginnings of an advertiser boycott.

Jamie Allman, who hosts a nightly news show on KDNL, a Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate in St. Louis, as well as a morning FM radio show, wrote on Twitter that he was “hanging out getting ready,” to sexually assault David Hogg with “a hot poker.”

“Busy working. Preparing,” read the March 26 tweet, which is too vulgar to print here in full. An image of it was published by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, as the remark began to draw more scrutiny in recent days.

Advertisers, including Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, St. Louis health center Palm Health, and local real estate office the Gellman Team, announced they would stop advertising on Allman’s shows, spurred on by activists who took to social media to highlight the commentator’s remarks, as well as Democratic state lawmaker Stacey Newman and others.

“We have accepted Mr. Allman’s resignation, and his show has been canceled,” said Ronn Torossian, chief executive of the PR firm 5W, who is acting as a Sinclair spokesman, said in response to questions sent to the media company by The Washington Post.

It represented the potential of yet another public relations crisis for Sinclair, which has come under harsh criticism in recent weeks after a video of dozens of its anchors reading the same mandated script about “fake stories” went viral.

Sinclair, the Maryland-based media company, is the largest owner of local television stations in the country, with 173 stations in 81 broadcast markets. It has come under intense scrutiny, as it awaits federal approval for a takeover of another media company, for injecting what many feel is a conservative bias into local news coverage. Its proposed buyout of Tribune Media, for which it needs approval from the FCC and the Justice Department, would bring its coverage into the homes of as many as 70 percent of American households.

Compared to Ingraham’s remark, Allman’s statement, with the overt threat of sexualized violence, was an attack of a different magnitude, though he is not a national media figure like Ingraham.

Allman’s television show appears to fit into the conservative-inflected programming for which Sinclair has become known. He often trumpets pro-Trump and conservative lines, assailing media coverage of the president, lambasting liberals and Democrats for seeming “to be all about one thing, shutting down people they disagree with.”

  2. My brother lived just outside of Chico and loved it. His wife made him move to Decatur to get closer to civilization.
I live in Denver but can’t wait for my house to increase in value enough to sell and GTFO. Traffic and people suck. But we’re rednecks.
Chico is alright once you get used to the rock trucks. Grew up there so I know where all the bodies are buried so to speak and get along with most of the people.

Have always hated Decatur. That town could fuck up a wet dream. But since it's the county seat and the crossroads for 2 major highways about 90% of new development goes there. I try to avoid going there if at all possible. I'll drive to Bowie to go shopping just so I don't have to pay sales tax for Decatur.

Here is this dumbass tired argument again, he has an empire and name recognition that got him into the highest position of power in the world, and he has done very well for himself financially mind you. Yet you sit here and act like he shouldve just sit on his ass all these years and done nothing with his money. He used it build a brand, he invested it in many companies, he created businesses that employ our Americans and give them jobs; fuck your index fund, your armchair financial analysis is poor, he has done incredibly well with his money and all you can do to cut him down is say he could have slightly more with your hindsight analysis. Who is the real loser here?

He's a modern day PT Barnum that had a rich Daddy and constantly promoted himself in the media. Don't act like he was born a poor black child. His fails far outnumber his successes.

  4. Tammy Duckworth gives birth to girl: First senator to have baby while in office

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., on Monday gave birth to a daughter, Maile Pearl Bowlsbey, becoming the first sitting senator to have a baby while in office.

Duckworth, who turned 50 on March 12, is one of only 10 women in the history of the nation to give birth while in Congress, with the other babies born to members serving in the House.

This is the second child for Duckworth and her husband, Bryan Bowlsbey. Daughter Abigail was born Nov. 18, 2014, when Duckworth was 47 and in the House, representing a suburban Chicago congressional district.

Duckworth said in a statement: “Bryan, Abigail and I couldn’t be happier to welcome little Maile Pearl as the newest addition to our family and we’re deeply honored that our good friend Senator Akaka was able to bless her name for us — his help in naming both of our daughters means he will always be with us.

“Pearl Bowlsbey Johnson was Bryan’s great Aunt, an Army Officer and a nurse who served during the Second World War. He spent many summer months with her while growing up, we feel her presence still and are grateful for her service to our nation during the most challenging of times.”

“We’re also so grateful for the love and support of our friends and family, as well as our wonderful medical teams for everything they’ve done to help us in our decades-long journey to complete our family.”

Members of the Senate threw a baby shower for Duckworth on March 20 in the Capitol — men and women, Democrats and Republicans attended.

Cadet Bonespurs did not attend the shower after he received a deferment.

American Airlines is investigating after a 1-year-old boy was hit in the head by an oxygen tank that fell from the ceiling during a flight to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

According to the toddler's mother, 33-year-old Jennifer Zanone, of Denver, the incident occurred on her American Airlines flight AA126 traveling from Hong Kong to DFW around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Zanone said that upon landing, an entire ceiling panel, including a tank full of oxygen, fell onto the head of her son who was sitting on her lap in seat 35L. She said they were directed to wait for a gate agent to document the incident, but that no one appeared.

"We stood there waiting for an agent and our stroller until the captain himself walked off the flight and apologized to us," said Zanone. "After leaving the gate area, we went to the next customer service area to try to report the incident and were given the runaround for an hour and a half. While the apologies were appreciated, documentation of the incident would have been preferred."

In an email statement, American Airlines stated that its flight attendants offered to request medical personnel upon arrival, but that the request was declined by Mrs. Zanone.

“American’s primary concern is for the Zanone family and their young child. Our customer relations team has spoken with Mrs. Zanone to offer additional support and obtain details of what transpired at Dallas/Fort Worth yesterday. Customers trust us to take care of them and we take that responsibility seriously," the statement said.

Zanone said she did decline medical assistance, but grew frustrated by what she perceived as a lack of response by the airline after arrival.

"We were offered medical assistance immediately following the incident and we did decline because I didn’t know what the medic could do on site with a jet-lagged, exhausted child so I chose to monitor himself until I could get him back to his own doctor," said Zanone.

She said after she posted an image of the fallen ceiling panel to Twitter, the airline responded to her on social media.
