  1. The clip from LWT where Swanson's criticizing Pat Buchanan back in the day for doing his exact same schtick - to a fucking T - would seem to support this.
  2. The humor in my opinion came 100% from the idiot news anchors reading those names on the air. I never thought the puns were making fun of asians per se, although I can see why you might take it that way.
  3. Has Tucker ever responded to Oliver? Oliver's nuked him so many times now. What I wouldn't give to see a debate with those two. Such an event on PPV would rake a fuckload of cash. I wonder how much Tucker would need to be guaranteed for him to do it.
  4. I bring this up to my parents a lot. They have no response.
  5. If that was actually what he said, I'd agree with all the vitriol directed at the cop.
  6. I empathize with how you feel. But I'm curious about the ho lee fuc thing. Are you referring to people calling you that or otherwise using it with/in regard to you because of your ethnicity - or do you find it offensive in general? I ask because it's something I sometimes type instead of holy fuck (because I found the local news prank that popularized it hilarious). It didn't occur to me that it's offensive to asians in the abstract. To me, it's just one of many childishly amusing name puns. Like Jack Mehoff or Mike Hunt. If so, I'll have to retire it.
  7. I really don't get everyone freaking out about this comment. I don't interpret it as excusing the killings or downplaying it at all. He's simply saying that being at the end of his rope and having a bad day is what made him snap at this particular time. Which is probably true for the majority of mass shooters. That doesn't mean it's the entire explanation for their conduct. It's an explanation for the timing of it. He's also only relating what the perp told him, so I'm not sure why people are taking it as any kind of judgment on the cops part. The outrage at the cop seems very misplaced.
  8. With all due respect to Lobo's theory that this guy's just trying to join the long line of mass murderers who skate on the sex addiction defense, my early read is that racial animus wasn't the motivating factor here, and that this is about evangelical shitheadery run amok once again. The other two thorny issues involved are guns/gun lust and the ubiquity of these asian rub and tugs and the sex trafficking undergirding them.
  9. People who truly respect law enforcement...other than the cops who were beaten and killed, I guess.
  10. Because the brown people just keep getting more uppity.
  11. Him saying that is proof this is not where we need to be.
  12. From what I understand the cucks are often, if not usually, into it. I don't understand it at all.
  13. Yeah, there's not really a better word for it. Except maybe whataboutery. Actually I like that one a lot more. It's a lot more fun to say. Try it. Whataboutery. It's technically known as the tu quoque fallacy. Not quite as catchy.
  14. Why do you think it would never kill good bills?
  15. Also should probably exempt voting rights expansion bills from the filibuster. That's the only way HR-1 has chance other than ditching the filibuster entirely.
  16. The more I think about it the more I prefer the idea of making the filibuster really painful for the minority over eliminating it entirely. The filibuster isn't really the problem, and it's not hard to imagine the really horrible things the Rs would do if it's gone when they regain the majority. The problem is the Rs being obstructionist assholes with every damn bill. Bringing back the talky filly and requiring 40+ votes on the floor would likely significantly curtail its use.
  17. More evidence that 40% of the population is hopelessly stupid.
  18. I must admit that I've always thought lower federal court decisions on constitutional questions were binding on states. Apparently that only goes for SCOTUS.
  19. Was held to be unconstitutional by the 5th circuit in 2008, based on the 14th amendment. I should note that decision is not binding on state courts.
  20. It's asshole signaling.
  21. Gaslighting as art part 2.
  22. Taking gaslighting to a whole new level.
  23. Lulz at asking them to compile every single moderation decision over the past year. They're just harassing twitter. The only rational response to this letter is "get fucked."
