I'd really like you to go back and read the tweet from Sarah Cooper that I posted. The tweet I posted in response to someone else who said they hadn't heard Trump's speech and would wait to see Sarah Cooper's version. Since you seem like you don't get out much, Sarah Cooper is a comedian that's caught on because she mimes Trump's speeches on Tik-Tok and Twitter. So this odd notion you have that I posted some fake news is weird given I was only responding directly to that poster who mentioned her.

I'd say Trump invoking George Floyd because Trump acknowledged existing federal law that all people are granted equal protection under the law is not quite a reason that George Floyd would be looking down and smiling. Maybe if Trump say came up with an actual plan to combat police brutality and systemic racism in the police force, George might be smiling. You know, the same thing that he hushed a reporter about when she asked him directly what his plan was to combat these things. But yeah, that one dishonest tweet is so much worse.

I would have to spend every second of my life 24 hours a day seven days a week doing that. You know this. You know the drill

Nothing quite like a Friday drunk at 5/6. Turn the phone off and hit on the bartender

  3. South Carolina having an openly closeted Republican and a Black, fairly moderate, Republican make me think the state is closer than some think and the right candidate could possibly win if done with precision. South Carolina counties east of Columbia are fairly competitive and not dominated by huge margins by and large.

Lindsay’s challenger is Jaime Harrison this year. Made headlines a few weeks back by having 23 donors flip from Lindsay to himself. Has had some record breaking fundraising himself, not sure if it’d be better or worse with national attention.

  4. The number of GOP chairs sharing dumb racist messages is now 5. Harrison county GOP chair near Longview shared the same staged for cameras execution conspiracy theory.

Also, Sid Miller, Agricultural Commissioner and troll extraordinaire, shared Facebook memes about George Soros paying protestors and orchestrating the whole thing. I’m sure Abbott will tell him to resign as well *eye roll*

  5. General session details

    01

4:00 PM CT | General Session with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer, US Senator Elizabeth Warren, US Senator Kamala Harris,Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Congressman Joaquin Castro, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher,Congressman Colin Allred, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, Texas Senate Democratic Leader Carol Alvarado, Former State Senator Kirk Watson, Texas House Democratic Leader Chris Turner, Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee Chair Celia Israel, State Representative Gina Hinojosa, State Representative Rhetta Bowers, State House Nominee Elizabeth Beck, State House Nominee Ann Johnson, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins, Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa, Texas Democratic Party Vice-Chair Dr. Carla Brailey, and Pearland ISD Trustee, Place 2 Mike Floyd.

  6. How illegal would it be to make civil lawsuits for violence by police officers get paid out from their pension fund? I’ve given no thought to it before now. I feel like that would give pressure to both the individual and collective group to respond with less recklessness.

  7. Just doing my part to amplify this. Lindsey Graham MAY be sleeping with male prostitutes or escorts. I can’t confirm. But male sex workers and escorts should come forward to say if they had sexual relations with US Senator Lindsey Graham In exchange for money. Which is illegal and NDAs would be worthless.

    Allegedly.

  8. General session starts today at 4, with an organizing 101 session at 230.

Took some notes on the desktop yesterday that I don’t have with me, but the Houston chapter said they were sending applications  for vote by mail to all voters over the age of 65. If it happens, we’ll have to wait and see. They were throwing around some pretty big numbers but it wasn’t communicated consistently IMO through the panel. Over 500k was the final number I heard on the meeting.

So Bexar County and Nueces County GOP chairs have shared the same conspiracy theory and Abbot has asked them to resign. The Harris County-elect GOP chair shared a MLK quote with a banana in the background and Dan Crenshaw has asked he resign. The Comal County GOP Chair posted an image of George Soros with text “"I pay white cops to murder black people. And then I pay black people to riot because race wars keep the sheep in line.”

Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and New Braunfels are not some small town cheesedicks.

  10. The Democrat who gets out of the primary for Kirk Watson's seat is a lock to win, whether its Eckhardt or Rodriguez.

State Senate doesn't have a real chance of flipping this election. If you do want to go state senate route, priority should be given to SD-19, to bring the balance back to 18R-13D and break the R supermajority. Jane Nelson in SD-12 hasn't had to face a real challenger this decade, her district is northern suburbs of DFW and west Fort Worth and I think is the only potential suprise, if there would be one. All state senate spots will be up for election in 2022 after redistricting.

Wendy Davis is a great pick IMO. Very flippable district on face value, and Chip Roy was Ted Cruz's old chief of staff so he is very dickish. Chip voted against the coronavirus relief bill, compared stay at home orders to Nazi Germany, and held up aid from the natural disaster relief bill for communities affected by Harvey

  11. ActBlue already has a Flip the Texas State House fund that is looking to protect incumbents that barely won and those who are challenging in close districts. Those who are still in runoffs will have money split equally. You can also choose to allocate how you like if you dont want to equally. This decides if Texas Dems will have a seat at the redistricting table.

I was going to make an all encompassing thread for 15-20 State House candidates and 8-9US House candidates in Texas for competitive races with links to their site and ActBlue after the runoff. Not much going on in Texas State Senate except SD-19 and maybe Jane Nelson's district could be competitive after never having to run against a Democrat this decade.

  12. Todays slate. Yesterdays Latino Movement call spent more than half the time driving home the message on how they feel Abbott is more anti-Latino and anti-immigrant than Trump. Started with much hope regarding DACA and in state tuition for some undocumented immigrants.

Currently on Vote by Mail session, have to leave at 1:30 will be missing the State Judicial slate and Gun Violence session I was wanting to see.

  13. It’s not a huge Dem lean district by any stretch, and she was selected in the primary by those same Democratic voters against straight Hispanic men and women. Beto is friends with Will Hurd and did not endorse GOJ in 2018 in what many people think secured the result. Pete Flores, a Republican, won a special election for state senate that covers much of the same area.

Putting the wiki for the district below showing its demographics and seesaw elections.

That’d be my guess. But- is the Dem a lesbian?  That might be keeping down some appeal with Hispanic voters. But I’d guess that race flips pretty easily.

Gina Ortiz Jones is Filipina and Lesbian.  Her primary opponent last year and even Republicans made a big deal out of her not being Hispanic and using her middle name.
