Quoting so this didn’t get lost in the wee hours. This should be an interaction everyone sees. 5 cops most likely yelling and talking over each other’s orders and black people unable to know who/what they should listen to. Even after they tase them, they can’t figure out from which door they want to drag him. They never had a chance, they were going to get fucked up.

Good job "protesters."  Way to honor the memory of George Floyd here.

Anyone hear “came at us with a sword”  at the end?

hitting someone with the trucks of your skateboard will kill a person.

I hope the protestors in DC are smart enough to not try and "storm" the White House. This does all feel like we are a hair trigger away from people being shot/killed by police or the National Guard.

President screwed over National Guardsmen recently from early retirement benefits.  He shouldn’t have all his eggs in that basket for help.

  4. I’ve been watching MSNBC and the male black anchor is a wizard in terms of knowing the layouts of major cities, nice restaurants nearby, and directions the reporters are walking with only the references of buildings in the background

I’m still fucking baffled that we could basically vote anyone into office right now and we’re stuck with Joe Biden. What a wasted opportunity for the progressive movement.

I look at it that Joe Biden, as a moderate against the biggest crybaby there’s ever been in office, brings out as close to as many people as possible from Dem circles as well as jilted Republicans. If that coalition votes D downballot, they could break some Republican gerrymanders and get more D seats in redistricting that give Progressives a better chance at representation the next 10 years.

  6. in case you didn’t know the story, from Lara Logan’s wiki detailing the Egypt assault

She said the incident involved 200 to 300 men and lasted around 25 minutes. She had been reporting the celebrations for an hour without incident when her camera battery failed. One of the Egyptian CBS crew suggested they leave, telling her later he heard the crowd make inappropriate sexual comments about her. She felt hands touching her, and can be heard shouting "stop", just as the camera died. One of the crowd shouted that she was an Israeli, a Jew, a claim that CBS said, though false, was a "match to gasoline". She went on to say that they tore off her clothes and, in her words, raped her with their hands, while taking photographs with their cellphones. They began pulling her body in different directions, pulling her hair so hard she said it seemed they were trying to tear off chunks of her scalp. Believing she was dying, she was dragged along the square to where the crowd was stopped by a fence, alongside which a group of women were camping. One woman wearing a chador put her arms around Logan, and the others closed ranks around her, while some men who were with the women threw water at the crowd. A group of soldiers appeared, beat back the crowd with batons, and one of them threw Logan over his shoulder. She was flown back to the U.S. the next day, where she spent four days in the hospital.[24][25] She was contacted by President Obama when she arrived home.[27] CBS said it remained unclear who the attackers were, and unlikely that any will be prosecuted.[24][25]

Engage Texas was paying its canvassers 15/hr, at least here in Austin. They would approach people asking if they had a minute to discuss the Second Amendment, and if they responded favorably to their support they would then ask if you were registered to vote. There’s a couple stories out there about how when confronted by media they would scatter.

So a democratic city council and mayor which most major cities have will cave to a group that would not vote for them in the first place because why?

    Public safety.

I don’t want to put you on ignore cause I don’t want to pass up a chance to share info to someone who may be legitimately curious about big city PD and FD, but you are detracting from the conversation by responding with disagreeable concerns. I’ll admit I only have this insight because I was in an AFD class for 4 months with guys that were moving here from Houston FD that educated the shit out of us before I left.and that’s enough self doxxing

So for someone uninformed here, who are the AA community leaders that are actually planning protests or strategizing to help make changes a reality? I know there’s no MLK, but who’s going to Birmingham (Minneapolis) to help lead these people? We’re all tired of seeing this. I just hope for this movement’s sake that there’s people more effective/credible than Kaep or Shaun King or something similar.

MLK was routinely criticized and tore down by politicians of his time when he was still alive.  After his murder, and when his name became a day off from work he became much palatable for people to agree with.

  10. Big city fire departments and police departments are usually led by whatever Alphabet minority group can get in power, with the rest of the department being made up of mostly your suburb dwelling stereotypical mans man types. There’s a reason Republicans advocate getting rid of pensions for government employees, except for firefighters and cops.

  11. 3 minutes ago, Alvin89 said:

The man in charge of the police has nothing to do with allowing officers to continue to police the streets even though they have a history of being a shitty cop?

That would be an question for his predecessors from before Summer 2017, when the current black police chief took over.

Minneapolis has had a Mayor from 1 party since 1974....Don't the mayors hire the police chiefs?

Not always. They can definitely nominate, some require city council approve.

The city Mayor is a Democrat, the police chief is black, and the governor is a Democrat. So who exactly is pushing the agenda in this specific situation?

The police chief literally sued the department with 4 others for being passed over for promotions back when he was a Lt. If you think changing a culture of an outfit can happen because the city voted for Democrats, when the majority of your force is probably white guys from the suburbs your not examining the situation correctly.

  14. I’d much rather have Beto say, “election administrators cannot verify a disability or your sickness, they assume your interpretation is correct” than sharing a headline that says you can’t vote by mail.
