Yeah, I finally went out this past weekend to a restaurant/bar and it was damn near 100% full. Mask wearing was probably 90% as far as people getting to their tables or going to the restroom. I have another week or so to go before I know if I chose wisely or not. I sat outside only.

I've been to a few restaurants with my wife just to not cook for once and have been happy with their social distancing and precautionary measures. Tables were spaced out with at least a one table gap between seated parties, waitstaff was fully masked, and all the other diners (that I could see) were wearing a facemask when they weren't seated at their table.

I think there's a way forward with safely eating out, but it takes everyone taking it seriously. So it's definitely not going to work at scale.

.....or maybe it was so egregiously obvious that the Texas Rangers didn’t have to do much of an investigation. Oh wait, that’s exactly what their press release above statesemoji849.png

Right - what I'm saying is that there's been many instances of police abuse that are egregiously obvious that have been defended lock stock and barrel by the police. Including and not limited to: lying on affidavits, lying under oath, spiking investigations, and literally forming an armed phalanx to defend an officer who choked a man to death over the course of 9 minutes on video.

So it's notable that the police actually policed themselves in this instance and are treating the officer like any other suspect.

  3. This pig looks like most shitty high schoolers. Who could have guessed that's the sort of people a career in policing attracts??

It's surprising to see Texas law enforcement actually act like black lives matter - we usually see an armed phalanx of officers protecting their murder suspects. All the protests must have done something.

He's lost everyone and everything but his hardcore base. Anyone with half a working brain is out, not voting or voting for biden.

I think you guys are too deep in the echo chamber. Anyone that wasn't fully regarded MAGA is not showing up now.

Counterpoint: your DT board and happy gaggle of COVID truthers over there. There's far more fully regarded MAGA folks than you'd suspect, at least in my experience.

I really doubt that the hardcore, trump-flag-flying, "blue lives matter" folks are turning a corner. I think we're just seeing them stop talking so loudly.

Do you mess around on Reddit? I don't, but my kiddos do and we've had chats before about the pros and cons. It's got some issues and this is one of them. Long thread but very worth it.

In the wrong hands...not good. This fellow points out how people cannot tell the difference.

That's way more advanced than just markov chains to make funny sentences - very curious to see more info on his underlying linguistic model to synthesize these posts

Another small antecdote. Talked to my 70 year old Sooner diehard Trumpkin friend on the phone yesterday. Last time we spoke about a month ago, he was talking about Trump getting 350 EC votes, Antifa, China, etc. This time he started off the call with “we’re not talking about fucking politics, ok?” and then just bitched about OU’s defense the entire time.

He senses what’s coming. That’s progress.

I suspect we're going to see an increasing rate of people being shitty about [NO POLITICS!!!!] as they lose their mob that supported their toxic mentality. More dog-whistling and using subtle talking points

  7. My wife was a wreck during the bar exam, I couldn't imagine trying to study for it and take it when everything's all fucky right now.

Especially since Texas adopts the UBE next year so this bar exam group is getting double fucked. Taking an incredibly strenuous exam in unprecedented circumstances AND it's harder and less useful than next year's exam.

I've got a buddy who's currently in day 1 and he's planning on getting real classy this weekend during the OU game lol

  8. They released about 20 hours of audio with about 4 minutes of total redactions.

Notably however, the recordings do not include juror deliberations and prosecutor recommendations and statements, "as they are not evidence," the AGs office said. That is (apparently) customary but it's not as much info as would actually be useful, and it'll take a while to digest all the raw audio

  9. Interadesting. Pence just tweeted a thoughts and prayers deal to trump. Did he test negative? Or just being a goober?

Because if he thinks he HASN'T been exposed, then he's either lying or he never actually meets with trump or goes to the white house. Which is a kind of a funny and fucked up thought

Yeah, all our external enemies love this shit. We are already circling the drain.  They arent going to interrupt.  Plus they get all this for free and aren't getting their towns bombed over it.

This is an opportunity to act without immediate reprisal. I wonder if russia is feeling hungry for another bite of Ukraine

CDC says 94.5% for 70and up, but that’s cuffing 70 year olds with 85-90+ yr olds. Aren’t there a lot more 85+ deaths than those under 60?

Tbh, the presidency is an objectively stressful job. It chews people up and often instigates health issues. We know trump isn't 239Lbs and we know he doesn't have the healthiest habits, he strikes me squarely as a "high risk" person.

So you're telling me the senate may have to adjourn and not vote on supreme court....

It would be one hell of a political ad for the GOP to get bitch slapped by COVID while the dems have way fewer positives

  13. Sooooooo Mnuchin and Meadows have been meeting with ACB, senators, and congresspeople including Pelosi. Those two have been around the WH often and around people who have tested positive.

This is what a super spreader event looks like.

There’s not going to be a battle over the supreme court position.  Dems will go through the motions and that’s it.

Welllllllll if it's 50/50, can Pence cast a tie breaking vote without being present in the senate chamber?
