  1. What do the colors indicate and italics?
  2. Tremendous amount of work. Thank you. What prompted this? Edits: RB: I don't think Knowles is on scholarship WR: Grant Calcaterra medical retired TE: B Willis is Soph-rs so 2nd year player OT: I don't think Roberts is on scholarship OG: Murray is a regular transfer. He'll sit 2020 and come back as a Jr. C - Ndoma-Ogar is going to be here I think. DE, DT, NG: OU's moving these guys around a lot based on situation as you know so. Also, some who are listed as LB will play DE. LB: Similarly, LB positional distinctions are kind of immaterial at OU right now. J Morris is a safety. J Davis is a CB.
  3. Yeah, good call on tracking Utah also. I think there will be a lot of variance in this class because of lack of spring football, camps, and of course actual fall high school football. These are the places you get to see if Iwunnah is good enough that you-wunnah offer. (sorry) He looks like a tremendous athlete.
  4. Sooners need to get Gilliam or Burris. Both would be OK, neither isn't a good option.
  5. I don't know why they aren't interested in Collin Oliver (Ok St commit) from OKC suburb. https://247sports.com/Player/Collin-Oliver-46084719/ Alternatively, I'd be scouting middling teams that play good defense (Cal, eg) for options.
  6. All true. The situation was different with Slusher. OU apparently never offered (OU's 2020 DB class was really good early on, had decommittments, but still turned out OK especially at S). Daniels appears to be simply suffering from confirmation bias that A&M is supporting. Historically, OU has sometimes been able to circle back successfully in these situations, and they should try to here because because they don't have many great LB options in this class. This is coming on the heels of 2020 when they only took 2 LBs and 2019 when they only took 1 (who already transferred). Do you guys know if LSU was looking at Daniels as a big nickel/rover/LB or as a more classic safety?
  7. OU's recruiting is only top flight on offense. At OU, Bedenbaugh doesn't seem to care where OL are projected to play. He seems to shift OG outside and OT inside regularly. This is probably a function of all being > 6-4, 300 lb. Other factors (arm length, power, quickness, decision-making) then decide where they are slotted.
  8. Losing the best defensive prospect in the state has become a tradition for Oklahoma (2018, 2019, 2020). For Daniels, the strange thing would be losing him to A&M. He has apparently committable offers to national powers with good defensive histories. Of course OU wants him, but the saving grace for the Sooners would be that Mukes basically has the same physical profile.
  9. This is correct. High variance offense + recruiting cheats equals way two significant upset opportunities for Bama, LSU. SEC's guaranteed one CFP slot, but the 2 bid years will hopefully diminish.
  10. From 247, they only list JUCOs in those years (3 and 2, respectively). I don't recall any FBS/FCS transfers those years and can't find another source. I think you guys are probably right in that OU won't be able to take a full 25 which may mean that they can't take 4-5 in the secondary. If this is the case, OU's secondary recruits may be Mukes, McCutchin, Johnson, Harmon (announcing Aug 1). Hopefully they take one more. Among public offers, Brown was most highly regarded.
  11. OU does a lot in the early enrollment game. Does this play a role? If not, I agree that they can't take a full 25.
  12. I don't have any inside knowledge, but it appears as though they're only going to take 3-4 LB (Studsman, Daniels, ?Kollie -- Mukes probably here eventually). That leaves 11 slots for DL, DB (6 DL, 5 DB). For the DL (Smith, Down, Coe, Rawlins-Kibonge, Burris*, Gilliam*) and DB (McCutchin, Johnson, Brown*, Harmon*, ???). They've had so much attrition, especially in the secondary, that I think they have plenty of room for the 85.
  13. A counter argument that OU may be selling is that football players have successfully played two sports at a high level in Norman. I don't know how effective that pitch is when one of the sports is weak, but that may be their strategy.
  14. OU just needs talent on defense. God bless him, but Justin Broiles proved that loving OU too much isn't going to be enough stay with NFL-caliber WR. If you look to take 10 on offense and 15 on defense, I'm good with taking PBrown and CJohnson. I think it shows that OU has recognized the 4-corners on the field at all times is necessary to play in CFP. I'm assuming they're planning on playing bigger CB at S/NB.
  15. Michigan's defense has been much better than OU's since Don Brown has been in Ann Arbor. It makes sense that OU'd lose defensive recruits to Michigan just like I wouldn't be shocked to see OU get the good RB from Michigan (Edwards) this year. An OU's CB class of McCutchin, Brown, Harmon would be one I'd be excited about. That's three high upside players, which is what OU needs. I was excited about McMillon, and of course OU wanted Mukuba. Losing Hill wasn't such a big deal. I'm unsure if OU has any true safeties in the class right now. With the Sooners relative success in recruiting CB, I wonder if they load up on CB and move bigger ones to S. Alternatively, OU may circle back to AJ Green (Ark commit) later in the cycle. Green is apparently very talented as a DB but set on playing RB. OU may need numbers at DB and RB. Similarly, OU's Rivals site said Raheim Sanders from FL (Ark commit) was very interested in OU prior to committing to the Hogs. It's completely unsurprising that OU's offensive recruiting is much better than the defensive recruiting. If it weren't, I'd assume bagmen were the cause. OU lost the best Oklahoma HS DB in in 2018 (Proctor Ohio St) and 2019 (Hill Michigan). If the Sooner defense puts up another top 40ish season in next time (2020, 2021, or whenever), then the gap will start to close.
  16. In 2018, OU put all of their eggs in the Cameron Rising basket. When he decommitted, they went after Adrian Martinez who ended up going to Nebraska. That year, the QB market was depleted early so there were relatively few options for OU when Mordecai, at that time a 3-star backup plan, committed on Jun 1st. I'm sure OU took him thinking he had potential, but he certainly wasn't celebrated by the coaches or fans. Similarly, OU didn't have great options at QB for the 2020 clases after Bryce Young went elsewhere. The Sooners ended up with Morris, but there is very little excitement with him. Riley's said somewhere that he'd like to take a QB annually, but he doesn't just take a body. That said, it appears OU takes a highly regarded high schooler in odd number years (Robison, Rattler, Wms), and guys with less accolades in the even years (Mordecai, Morris). I guess this bodes poorly for OU's prospects with the highly-regarded 2022 Texas QB.
  17. Are you calling me out on the difference between 740K vs 800k? 🤪 Lon Kruger makes about 2m so if it's everybody > 1m, he's included. Regardless, it's smart messaging by the Sooners athletic department. Both those guys have incentive bonuses greater than the 10% loss so don't think they're that worried.
  18. This is good leadership messaging. The 10% salary cut will affect only three coaches I think (Riley, Grinch, and Kruger). It will save ~ 800k which is only 6% of the shortfall. However, it shows the community that the big dogs are sacrificing (only 3.6m, how will he make it!), and it shows the football and basketball staff that there bosses are looking out for them. It may legitimately spare some staff for these sports.
  19. If only the state of Oklahoma was as well-run as the OU football program. The Sooners were among the last teams to bring players back, and Riley has been on record from the start about his concern for player safety. The list of things to criticize about OU and Oklahoma about is long, but this isn' t on it.
  20. He's a clown for this but more for other stuff. This is just clownish behavior trying to distract us from his incompetence.
  21. You may be right, but I discount the possibility of him returning as a difference-maker in 2020.As we all know, WR requires explosiveness/change of direction that will take time to rehab and trust. A best case would be for them to wait until the last couple of games of the season to play. If he feels good, use him in conference championship and playoff. If not, redshirt is intact. What OU really needs to do is break the cycle of boom-bust WR classes. They alternate really good with very bad classes: 2016: 3 portals, 0 contributors 2017: 4 contributors 2018: 2 portals, 0 contributors 2019: 2 promising Fr years plus Bridges 2020: Weak recruiting class on paper 2021: First 2 recruits look good on paper and in on some other promising ones.
  22. WR attrition from OU 2018 class 2 enrolled -2 (portal x2) 2017 4 enrolled -3 (Brown-NFL, Lamb-NFL, Calcaterra-injury) 2016 3 enrolled -3 (portal x3) Looking at the scholarship chart on 247, they have 8 WR list for 2020. That includes a walk-on, Stoops' son, a guy with torn ACL (Haselwood), and a guy suspended for weed for 6 games (Bridges). Only 1 of the 3 new Fr is included on the chart. Of the 2 unlisted player, there are rumblings one may be moved to RB (Darby). Sprinkle in 2 grad transfers (1 of the transfers is walked-on at Miss St and recorded 0 receptions), subtract one torn Achilles tendon (Howard). So... 8 - 4 (nepotism/walk-on/injured/suspended) = 4 4 + 3 (minus 1 RB) = 5 5 + 2 (minus 1 Achilles) = 7 That's why I said "about 10." OU may really rely on nepotism/walk-ons in 2020. OU may run a lot of 21, 22 bc they've got talent and experience there. Bridges will be back for latter part of whatever of 2020 season occurs. Haselwood/Howard are of course on the books but out until 2021, but there is uncertainty in WR returning from those injures. The Obiolo will be off the books for 2021. That's why numbers for 2021 may be a bigger than anticipated.
  23. Is this what you guys extract from this? OU 2021 WR: 3 - 4 (4 if Egbuka) IN: Mario Williams, Cody Jackson Plus one more: Jalil Farooq, Coleman, or circle back to one of the other guys they've had on their radar (Sturdivant, Malcolm Johnson, etc) OU only has about 10 WR in the program this year so taking four doesn't seem excessive.
  24. Norman is close than Baton Rouge (5 hrs vs 10), but I hope OU stays far away from him.
