  1. I wouldn’t have traded a highly protected 2nd round pick for Dame (or Beal) and I said that at the time. Both of them made way too much money to not even be worth paying them for the players they were.
  2. KD would be #1 choice for the offseason shopping. If he's not available I'd think hard about Giannis. You can win a title with him and whatever is left after you make that deal- for sure. Giannis would have to want to come here before I'd trade for him, obviously. It's really hard to find anyone else to get super excited to add to the team that I feel like would put over the top (at least that makes any kind of sense). It's got to be a top 10 player or it's not worth making a big trade I'd think. It's not like they have to do anything.
  3. Giannis is so good that you just figure it out. Sengun would be going out so you still have your big, and you have 4 other floor spacers and drivers ideally to play off of him. You just want a top 5 guys so you have the best player in the series all the way through. Those are usually the teams that win those series. But yeah- KD, if he can stay healthy, probably puts this team over the top if it's Jabari and cap filler going out for him.
  4. Yep. Also, Bregman is smart so that's why (I'm sure) he didn't take Detroit's money even though it was the highest offer and went to Boston and Fenway to attempt to rebuild his value on the pillow deal. Paredes has basically been an all star everywhere he's been except for 2.5 months in Wrigley. Wrigley has that cutout down the left field line where it actually gets sort of deep down that line. That wasn't helping Paredes. That ballpark plays smaller to the alley's and CF than it does down the lines which is the opposite of what Paredes wants. Also- if you want a super quick cheat code to what you should think of a pitcher beyond pounding the strike zone and swing and miss you should look at Pull side Fly Ball avoidance.
  5. This is almost 100% right. Guys that hit the ball hard (if their strike out rates aren't terrible) are absolutely the best hitters. Altuve at 11th from bottom in avg EV isn't a big deal- he's always been below average at that (as has Paredes). You can succeed with low EV in a couple ways... don't strike out while spraying the ball a lot, or have a profile heavily stacked to fly balls to the pull side. Fly balls to the pull side are HR's way more than any other type of balls hit- and they don't have to be hit all that hard. Doubly so this is true at Daikan park. Altuve his entire career has done both these things. Paredes his entire career has excelled at the second. There are some other guys who can make a living without hitting the ball particularly hard- but it's threading a needle.
  6. I'd probably move Jalen Green above Shepard but the cut line of guys I wouldn't include in a deal would end after Sengun, so... it wouldn't be about my preference it would be about my trading partners preference more than anything. I'd move Sengun for Giannis in a heartbeat. Other than that though your 1 & 2 would be untouchable.
  7. I'd send out Jabari in a KD deal without even blinking. I imagine that would have to be FVV, Jabari and others for cap purposes for KD, right?
  8. Podcast could be summed up in a couple sentences that we did last night: 1) Your team can't be good if Pena and Meyers are your 2 best position players. 2) a plausible top 5 going into the season would have been: Yordan, Altuve, Walker, Diaz and Framber. They are undoubtedly in the top 7 or 8 going into the year. They've combined so far for -0.2 war. This team can't win with that being the case. Thank you Jeff Bagwell.
  9. Episode 102 (mislabeled 101) where it gets a bit dark.
  10. It’s the only reason he signed the extension he did, so I guess I’m ok with it.
  11. I sure has hell hope this has been bothering him all year and that would explain why he's basically sucked dick all year and is an 86 ops+ guy.
  12. I actually think Cam smith is pretty good in RF. Chase is fine everywhere but he’s actually a really solid LF. chas/Meyers/Smith is actually a really good defensive OF. But yeah, no need to say likely on meyers being the best OF defender on the team.
  13. He scored the winning run after a steal on a pitch out. I’m still gonna give him credit for doing us in.
  14. Feels like we dodged a bullet there that it was only a single. That guy owns our ass. Every time they beat us he’s basically the reason why. He was never getting a decision he didn’t go 5.
  15. We about to watch Luis Robert put them up 5-4.
  16. So bad. Need robot umps badly.
  17. 50 ops+ this year. 86 for his career. He sucks offensively. He’s getting too many AB’s.
  18. No worries. I will. That probably means he gets to play 8 of the next 10 games.
  19. They get to bat back to back with bases loaded. Outstanding! Not super excited about lack of swing and miss there.
  20. Espada is a waterhead. I guess Cam Smith is dead. Was fun while it lasted I guess.
  21. We hit 12 balls over 100 mph today, they hit 2. Of you do that every day I’d guess you win about 90% of the time. 3 of the 4 hits Hunter gave up in the first inning had exit below of 86/84/78. The one hard hit ball that inning they did have was on the ground in the single to CF. He also struck out a couple. There’s not many innings where that contact profile will lead to 3 runs, just a little unlucky there or the game would have been a laugher. need to win tomorrow and LMJ go 4 or 5 and feel great afterwards and this week will be a huge success even though we lost a game to the white Sox at 4-2. we will have e played the team with the best record in the league and the worst record in the league- 4-2 is just fine for that week but more importantly LMJ is 19 hours away from getting back on a major league mound. I missed him. I’m prepared to get hurt all over again, but I sure would like to see him pitch this year pain free and be the dude he was before.
  22. Yainer got two more hits and smoked one to left field. He’s finally starting to swing the bat well. Dezenzo with a walk and a double. At the end of the day, finally, everyone in the box score had an ops that started with at least a 6, which is the first time you could say that all year I believe. We are getting there. Baby step by baby step.
  23. Chicago has to sweeten that. Pay his salary or something. Throw in a prospect.
