  1. I mean- when you are in a stretch of 5 games (even if one of them was the defending national champs at their place) where you are just going to dominance hump everyone on your schedule the material to be surly about is hard to find.
  2. I think this is our best lineup against RHP. Our best offensive lineup would be substitute singleton for Meyers and play JHey in CF and Yainer at DH, but that lineup might be a defensive problem…. I like Caratini marginally better than Singleton, offensively, I think. also, way to go 1-6 against Seattle, Arlington you worthless collection of chucklefucks. Win today and tomorrow and pour some champagne. if Cleveland could go ahead and lost today while we win we would control our own destiny, longhshit that that may be.
  3. I can’t see Quinn getting “a few drives in”. He either sits or plays until they score the first points of the second half (at a minimum- game dependent) I would venture to say.
  4. So, sometimes you get smack talk in this post. Sometimes you get talk of beatings we are going to lay down. Sometimes you get hype. Occasionally, you get nerves and excitement. This time, something different. Going to talk a little about what college football means and getting older… Once upon a time, football was a way for me to be involved with other people and act like a normal person, growing up. It was how I related to my grandpa and dad and uncles and stuff like that. They wouldn’t want to talk about current events, or how the world works, or history or economics or faith or other stuff I was interested in growing up. But, we could always relate to each other over a football game. Later in life, it became a reason to go “home”, a reason to call or text my friends. I always had a much better pulse on my friend group from August to January- when we text each other during game week about what would happen or game watching, and throw in stuff about engagements, marriages, weddings, divorces, pregnancies, births, jobs, achievements and the like. Relationships that go into hibernation for much of the year become normal again during the football season. It could be a reason to travel, cut loose, drink, enjoy yourself and put aside responsibilities that turn you from a normal person back into the care free life that you put aside when responsibilities became more pressing. Now- as I get older, it’s a chance to show my kids the world, build memories that will last forever etc. I always say baseball with its day to day is like background music and a soundtrack to life in that year. Football, however, acts like a calendar that marks years and seasons and the passage of time for me. I love it and getting to take my baby and last child to her first game ever was and seeing the wonder and awe in her face throughout the trip was as good as anything I’ve ever done. That’s how you turn a glorified scrimmage against a shitty ULM team into one of the best gameday experiences of my life. This is the last time anyone will ever have to indulge my navel gazing asshattery in this space. Seeing our glorious leader @immamacat the tailgate with his 4 year throwing the football was cool as he’s doing that same kind of thing. On to next week against Mississippi State as the SEC kicks off. They are terrible and we should win convincingly. Then, it’s bye and OU in Dallas which is normal UT fare. I don’t believe we will have our first “welcome to the SEC” moment until we host Georgia. Klan aggy doesn’t interest me any more than corn aggy, or dust bowl aggy ever did. But it’s coming and it’s going to be awesome. MSU game week stuff happens here. Enjoy this ride fellas. here’s my daughters first game pregame:
  5. Andrew and I talked astros pitching in the postseason and this start was exactly what you wanted. best option was JV dominant and ready for the postseason but absent that you wanted him to shit the bed so he’s unplayable as a starter. You didn’t want him to muddle through 5 or 6 and give up 2 or 3 while whit knuckling it and pronounce him fit and ready to go. This is for the best. note- he might not be washed (probably is) as it’s possible this could still be injury related, but he’s definitely washed for this year. I’d offer him something like 1/8 next year- with $2M incentives for 100, 125 and 150 IP, and like 10M in incentives for if he gets cy young votes. That could get him to 25M or something if he has a really good year, and if he’s bad you can cut bait and be out the price of less than a good 7th inning reliever on the open market. Seems reasonable. No idea if he’d be interested. I wouldn’t do more than that.
  6. Someone said that he gets an 8th year next year if he wants it. No idea how that works out (something to do with the settlement) but I’m here for it.
  7. I’m fine with that happening, but I don’t know that Presley is. He has 10/5 so they can’t trade him without his ok.
  8. Gerry is a pussy. It’s well known that all of Broughton, Conner, Bolden, Gbenda and Holmes are getting drafted. I mean- not all of em but I’d bet on 2.
  9. hope that's not true. With what we traded for him and what we gave up, and actually unlocking the best pitching of his career it would be nice if we signed him to something like a 3/48. That seems fair if you look at his year in it's totality, age and all that. If you just go by the last month since he became an Astro and say that's him that's about 1/2 of what he will probably get. If that happens next time we need to avoid trading for a guy and doubling his value.
  10. OK- so if we don't catch Cleveland and have to play in the WC series- this just in- the fighting AJ Hinches are now only 0.5 games back of the Wild Card. I doubt anyone has the slightest concern about playing them. Also- holy shit looked up Correa's stats yesterday after the Twins lost 5-4 and Correa was 4-5 with all 4 RBI- they are awesome. He's playing good defense and he's got a 920 OPS. Stud. Then I looked at games played and it was like 78 and I laughed. Stud, that's made of glass. I wish him well. I really really liked him on the Astros. I hope he finishes out his career really well in Minnesota and ends up getting indcuted into the Hall of Fame (he has 44.5 WAR and he's going to be 29 for another 2 days so he is absolutely on that kind of pace) and has a great career and life. All that said, damn dude, mix in a 150 (or even 140) game season every now and again. Dudes games played: 99, 153, 109, 110, 75, 58, 148, 136, 135, 78 and counting
  11. Arms on any loans have been pretty dicey for at least 2 years. Now that the yield curves are getting un-inverted again I would imagine that you will see those start to be better again.
  12. 30. I didn't see any benefit on the 7/1....
  13. If non primary means second home I'd say you'd be doing well to get 6.499 if you weren't paying points If non primary means investment 6.499 would probably cost you about $750.00 Now- if you could get your loan to value below 70% (that right there is like 71%) then 6.125 might be on the table with no points.
  14. What’s the loan amount, appraised value and credit score?
  15. It would take him 387 pitches to get through 9.
  16. Yeah- you weren't wrong when you said coin flip. 100 was best case scenario between now and the end of the year and that looks like what we are going to get- that wasn't fully priced in so sort of odd- but yeah- better days ahead I highly suspect.
  17. And looks like the market closes down 14 for the day. It managed to briefly get into the green for like 5 minutes with a high at 7 bips up. Lenders re-pricing for the worse. I must say- I didn't have market worsening and breaking through technical support after getting a 50 bip cut from the feds on my bingo card for the day. Can't imagine how ugly it would have been if we only got 25 bips. Oh well, didn't have to happen today- but it will happen I'm sure going forward. Doesn't make any sense not to as that's where all the data, history and now government policy points to.
  18. How you feel about Habib over the last year would be 180 degrees different if the BLS hadn't reported a fake 850k jobs and the market wouldn't have reacted to the headline number and ignored the revisions. That really messed us up.
  19. 25 in November, 25 in december Thanks Gabe
  20. Eh- you know a lot. You are one of the most knowledgeable posters on things economic on this site. I just eat, drink and sleep this particular subset of economics b/c it's my job. The media sucks at financial reporting so most of the headline shit is utter nonsense.
  21. we were at - 17 bips the minute before it was released. Will be interesting to see what the swing is between now and the end of the day. I'm betting 30 points better to end the day (so finish plus 13). We shall see.
  22. Anyone else feel like throwing up now with 11 minutes to go before the fed announcement? This is like me watching Texas v OU but if I had about a $50k bet on the game right now. I don't know if I'm going to make it.... I'm in a glass cage of emotions.
  23. Yep. But more sellers than buyers this morning- as people taking profits from good move higher the last couple weeks/month.
