II thought he'd end up at UNC since Dre Bly can get any player from the 757 he desires. Sometimes I forget how good Mike Reed and Mickey Conn are at recruiting and proper development.

Batson is also a huge bonus in a lot of these recruitments.

    Corner or safety?

    Yes.

He's very much like the guys that Akina targeted and could be at home as a CB, NB, or FS - and could end up playing some combination in his time on the 40.

On Agbo, Roach says he struggled in the spring season and the main person he talks to at Texas is the assistant OL Coach, not Flood.

the same Mike Roach that said this at 8 am today?

With Campbell still high on the Longhorns, the priority should be finding tackle bodies. Malik Agbo will likely make a visit to Austin during the fall

I exchanged a few messages with Federal Way (Wa.) Todd Beamer offensive tackle Malik Agbo today. The Pacific Northwest big man took official visits to Oklahoma and Miami over the summer, and he'll have three to use in the fall. Agbo speaks regularly with Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood and offensive analyst Jajuan Dulaney. He could be an option at the tackle position if the Longhorns can get him to go through with that visit. Texas had a lot of buzz with Agbo back in the spring and could close if they get him to Austin in the fall.

Left out of Agbo's top 5. OT recruiting continues on its stellar trajectory

That's a rough one, esp because ASU is an active dumpster fire and LSU is an active crime scene.

it sounds like he's going to OU if they will take him

The Sooners’ mid-June recruiting rendezvous represented Agbo’s second official visit; he’d previously taken a trip to Miami, but in the aftermath of his venture to Norman, it was very clear that he favored the atmosphere at Oklahoma.

"It was the real deal compared to Miami," said Agbo. "It was a live experience from the moment I got picked up from the airport all the way till we got dropped off."

They’re giving Leopold a lot of credit but bring that, looks right. Fairly easy ranking honestly, Oak off season puff content.

    My take.

  6. Ok state RB commit Ollie Gordon (I like him A LOT) looking at SMU?

“SMU is looking to remain hot on the recruiting trail in 2022.

*** In early June, Oklahoma State landed a commitment from Euless (Tex.) Trinity running back Ollie Gordon over offers from the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, TCU, Texas Tech and others. The four-star prospect on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite used one of his five official visits this summer to check out Oklahoma State after committing.

I'm hearing that SMU is making a push here and an official visit could come in the fall. Nothing's imminent, but lines of communication are open and the 6-1, 210-pounder is showing interest.”

Ok so...I am confused. We do have commits. 14 of them. We are currently highly ranked by most recruiting services. And we have several months to go before NSD. If past experience is any indication decommits and recommits and chaos is going to rage in the next coming months. The game is far from over.

Granted I am not really a recruiting guy so maybe I don't get the intricacies of the game here but I don't see reasons to panic and start self-flagellating. So explain how 14 commits and a high ranking actually means no commits and panic time.

We are currently highly ranked because two of the schools that will finish in the top 3 are currently picking and choosing their classes (see here: Clemson, Alabama) while several schools like aggy, UNC, Oregon, USC, are all poised to possibly move ahead of us as not only are our primary targets headed elsewhere (ie Banks) but the secondary targets (ie. Williams, Fitzpatrick, Sexton) are as well. The tertiary targets (Ebosele, Gagophein) haven't had much if any contact with the coaches or recruiting staff, so making headway with them is going to be challenging. The staff as a whole has been unable to message anything regarding NIL. I don't think it's panic.

Yeah, that move never made sense, especially since recruiting coordinator is such an easily replaceable position. There’s a ton of people out there with the skill set to kill it, and a lot of demand for a spot like that at Texas. You don’t even have to pay them that much. There’s no excuse for not just going out and hiring one of the best people in the country for that job. Thankfully, there’s still time. I hope we see Sark hire an experienced person dedicated solely to that role.

Sarkisian had been at Texas for more than a month when they consolidated those 2 roles. Like I said when it was done, at Bama there are 4 people working those 2 roles. Viewing the other front office hirings and their relative experience/inexperience I wouldn't hold out a ton of hope as the entire org has gotten smaller and less experienced under Sark/Harris/Glasscock. It's not like it wasn't a huge red flag then - or that this outcome is a surprise.

Texas should've replaced Carrington with not 1 but 2 established guys in the RC role and kept Walsh while adding a retired/unemployed coach (with at least OC experience) to fill out the QB QC role.
