Salter’s ratings  bump happened in Feb. of 2020 waaay before NSD and when many QBs were still uncommitted.

247 just fell in love with him for whatever reason, they had him ranked as a top 50 national player and it skewed the composite.

It was Dilfer that fell in love with him. 247 simply reflected Dilfer's love affair for him. That dude was comparing him to Deshaun Watson and other nonsense. Then he went to the Elite 11, and just like Caleb Williams, was shown up by almost every QB at the event. Good times.

Basically left the program the same way he found it. Didn't let the ship completely sink. I don't believe those two years are enough to where we can really call him a solid cfb HC, or a meh one. He also led a couple of below average offenses as a college OC. Not sure if those short stints as OC at Duke or Ga Tech are enough, either.

You guys that are waiting for BoB to fall on his face in Tuscaloosa and be TexansBoB 2.0 are going to be waiting a very long time and are underestimating exactly what a machine Saban has installed there. You are also DRASTICALLY understating how terrible the situation at Penn State was when BoB took over. It was a fucking miracle to go 15-9 in that scenario. Under Saban, BoB is going to look a lot more like the miracle worker at Penn State than the moron running the Texans into the ground.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Raiola the Nebraska player who said something to the effect of "The Eyes of Texas is the most terrible sound in the world?" He HATED us with a white-hot passion.

    Quote

"I hate Texas," center Dominic Raiola said. "They're this high-and-mighty deal. I don't like that song either."

Texas players and coaches sing The Eyes of Texas after every game.Last season, Texas players hoisted Brown on their shoulders.

"I had my helmet on. My head down," Raiola said. "It was cloudy and kind of dark. It made me disgusted to hear that song. It made me sick to see them celebrating on our field."

he's probably off the NU steroid regimen now though, so the rage has probably quieted down.

These guys are good takes regardless because of high upside. Apparently Rowe's bought into being a football player. OU's got a similar player in the 2021 class, Jordan Mukes, who appeared to be progressing rapidly in the spring. As you're aware, having a couple of amazing athletes in the back 7 gives you tremendous flexibility.

Mukes should be playing OLB right now, he's actually an example of a guy who won't let the dream of playing S go, imho. That guy has NFL OLB written all over him but as a S - he's a good OLB.

Ohio St seemingly is making a big push for Kojo Antwi, so Samson may be SOL and have to settle for a cancerous offense for WRs in Nebraska.

He should choose a really good G5 spot instead - esp with the changes to the playoff - UCF, Boise, USM, USA, UL-Napier etc…

I know that these kids don't think everything through, and buy some crazy shit sometimes, but to buy this logic I'd have to believe he thinks the SMU QB situation is golden. He doesn't need anyone shitting on SMU for him to know their situation isn't better, and as a WR I'd expect him to explore the situation everyhwere.

You should talk to any kid coming off of a TCU visit it will quickly disavow you of this notion. Or any WR coming off a visit with Jimbo Fisher.

  7. The only world in which Scott Frost jumped in and physically fought Lawrence fucking Phillips, stopping him from beating the fuck out of his girlfriend again, exists only in a Penthouse Forum type Big Red Dream Journal. Where Dr. Tom Osborne is also a saint and not a giant pile of human shit.

Decommits from OU, where they have Spencer Rattler and will have Malachi Nelson, but QB is a concern?

    Seems legit.

Now do the same for SMU. Is it better than Texas?

Nope, and nope. It's also irrelevant.

Finish the rest of the thought - do you think that Hudson had the concerns about UTs QB situation on his own, or are they coming from another source(s)? My guess is that everyone recruiting him right now is shitting on the UT QB room. No one has done the same with SMU because it's fucking SMU. The coaching staff should be able to allay those fears easily by pointing to their previous successes in development, etc ...

Didn’t OKST have a program where okst coeds would act as escorts with recruits? I can’t find any info on it now because They scrapped that program once the NCAA started getting suspicious. Pussy >>> bagmen

Almost every school in the country had a group of hostesses like that but the Vandy rape and Colorado strippers scandals pretty much put a nail in the coffin as an official practice.

You seem to have conveniently eliminated all the elite DL and EDGEs we don’t have a chance with. Bear Alexander, Abor, and Sylla all still exist.

There’s also a difference between the staff doing their best with the situation presented and the ceiling on the ideal front 7 being somewhat weak compared to the offense or to most other cycles.
Right now, we’re not in it for a true difference maker on the DL, like an Alfred Collins or even a Leal type. I like Harris a lot and think he’ll be great but that ideal DL and Edge combo doesn’t exactly blow you away, especially since it doesn’t seem all that realistic. We’re almost definitely not getting Perkins and the odds of us landing Bledsoe and Finkley seem pretty low.

I think the staff will put together a good defensive class, but the ceiling on the class seems lower than most years.

I think it's an underwhelming even given the points you've raised. I think there are some good players in that "best case" list (some that we simply aren't getting) but it's list full of undersized guys that have limited frames and/or limited athleticism. You can chalk up some of the losses to social fits (like Abor) and scheme etc ... but there's no way to look at that best case list and not come away thinking that at best it's an undersized group that lacks elite athleticism. At this point I'd like to see a focus put into finding some bigger raw athletes with higher athletic upside. More focus on guys like McClellan instead of Finkley, another guy with a small maxed out frame, for example. Especially with the need for guys to have positional flexibility in this scheme. Derrick Brown and Chris McClellan would help me feel much better about the front seven - but even they are guys that should be our second tier.  Those guys should be rounding out a defensive class at Texas - not headlining it. Guys like Abor, Bear, and Sylla are miles ahead in terms of talent, frame, and athleticism. We weren't getting them (for various reasons) but the gap between them and their frames/athleticism and guys like Finkley/Bledsoe/Swanson/Ross is substantial.

Way to move the goal post and talk about Arkansas baseball. Am I proud of us getting our shit packed in the playoffs? No that’s a dumb fucking question. But I would at least rather make it and have a chance, a very small chance. But a chance none the less. But hey that’s just me. If y’all are cool with winning Alamo bowls that’s fine with me. Not talking shit either, I actually enjoy most of the shit you post

I'm not cool with winning Alamo bowls. Note ::

This is what I said. do you know what will placate me? A national title.

I wasn't moving the goal posts to talk about Arkansas baseball - I was just using a very clear example and taking the fandom (Texas or OU - and the sport of football) out of the equation. I think it's absolutely relevant because it highlights the exact nature of why the conference championship doesn't mean a fucking thing and it highlights how foolish it is to hang your hat on it as an example of success.

I would as well, don't get me wrong there. You have to make it to win it and I fully agree. I just wouldn't find any solace in making it and getting beaten down - much the same way I find no solace in the 2009 national title game.

Texas not giving a fuck about Big12 titles speaks about the state of the program.

In the same way that Sooners fans giving a fuck about them while being a complete non-factor in the national title picture speaks to the state of that program?

do you really think being proud of being placated by BigXII titles is somehow highlighting a superiority? it's been more than 2 decades since OU has achieved it's goals and yet because you've been conditioned to accept participation trophies you feel somehow superior - because you've won this conference. Do you think Arkansas should be reveling in their recent baseball season? Basking in the glory of winning every SEC series and the SEC tournament. Amazing achievement, right? Fuck no. They got sent packing at home and that season is an abject failure. Arkansas bragging about this baseball season is OU bragging about winning the conference while not winning a title for more than two decades.

Granted, we've been wandering in the desert for a decade now in football.

While this is true, I just want to point out that the most recent Texas national title is more recent than the OU title. That Sooner title is now more than 20 years ago. Stoops made winning the conference a pacifier for the Sooners fans and they are placated by it because he controlled the Norman media's narrative and they are morons. A once proud fanbase not only accepts but revels in conference titles, as if they fucking matter. There's only one goal in college football and one trophy that matters.

IDGAF about BigXII titles and neither should any self-respecting Longhorn or Sooner fan. National Championships matter. Everything else is a fucking participation trophy.
