  1. the persecution complex is so strong with these officials. it’s beyond embarrassing.
  2. abmas makes the mid season naismith award watchlist.
  3. i wish colleen would end up as the champion of this season. that would be so fitting.
  4. yes, in response to your boy “facts not feelings” morgantownhorn erroneously claiming that four players from beard’s first Texas team went to the nba. i pointed out to your now strangely silent PIC that shaka’s final Texas team had four nba players and that beard’s first Texas team had zero.
  5. dubs get outscored 44-28 in the 4Q to the kawhi-less clippers and lose 130-125. clips went on a huge run after tyronn lue got himself tossed.
  6. yeah no disrespect to the program, it’s just that what Beard did there is special. it would be special at 98% of programs. you’ve been able to draw coaches like knight, tubby, beard, and macalsand for a long time now, you’ve been competitive in the big xii, and your arena/fan base make lubbock a really tough place to play. TTU is totally a respectable program, just not the kind where you expect to hire a new coach and then win a combined 8 tourney games in years two and three. maybe at KU or UNC that wouldn’t be such a huge deal, but at TTU it defintely is. hell, what he did at Texas was a huge deal imo, and he didn’t even last two years. he’s just a special coach, and if he can stay out of trouble then time will prove him to be irrefutably elite, imo anyway.
  7. huh? the tweet to which i am referring is from that other poster where the tweet highlights that four consecutive TTU coaches have made the tourney, with his contention being that TTU is a good program and that Beard wasn’t particularly special there. ok. what’s that got to do with this conversation? TTU was no.21 in kenpom while Texas was no.61. according to bracketmatrix TTU was in and Texas was out:
  8. shit is going nuts here in the 4Q of clips/dubs.
  9. that tweet is actually making my point for me. praising TTU for having four consecutive coaching simply making the tourney really amplifies what Beard did with that program, essentially overnight: you remove beard’s teams from this graphic and the program has made the S16 three times since 1976 (with beard being partly responsible for one of those times), and zero tourney runs beyond that. he took them to the elite 8 and then the national title game in his second and third years there. bob knight and tubby smith couldn’t sniff his success in his short time there. TTU Basketvall has been around for 98 years, and yet chris beard did more in his 2nd and 3rd years there than the entire program has done outside those two years.
  10. score was 46-40 at half time of the tennessee/arkansas game. second half has been a massacre (arkansas just hit a three to make it 86-58).
  11. and 7 of those points came when KC recovered a miffed punt at the SF 16 yard line.
  12. you keep saying this, insinuating that chris beard is no better in the tourney than shaka smart is, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Shaka’s career and tourney accomplishments: •2010- CBI champ •2011- Final Four with worst at-large team ever (and the pinnacle of his tourney career) •2012- second round as a 12 seed •2013- second round loss by 25 pts in a 4/5 game •2014- 1st round loss to SFA as a 5 seed •2015- 1st round loss as a 7 seed •2016- 1st round loss to Northern Iowa as a 6 seed •2017- finished last in the big xii, missed the tourney •2018- blew 14 point second half lead in 1st round loss to nevada •2019- won the NIT •2020- would have missed the tourney barring a conference tourney title •2021- lost to ACU in the worst tourney performance i’ve ever seen •2022- lost by 28 in an 8 vs 9 matchup •2023- lost by 9 in second round as a 2 seed vs Chris Beard career and tourney accomplishments: •2016: beat (kenpom no.9) purdue as a 12 seed with UALR coming off a terrible season with a patchwork roster comprised of transfers •2017: no postseason in first year at TTU •2018: Elite 8 2019: national runner up, loss in OT to no.1 overall seed 2020: no tourney due to pandemic 2021: made second round as a 6 seed 2022: won Texas’s first tourney game since 2014 with a patchwork roster that was built in three months shaka smart has as many tourney wins since 2011 as chris beard got in his second year/first tourney at TTU. but yeah, they’re basically the same guy. 🙄
  13. posting his career resume is speculation, and not facts? in what world? oh, that’s right, the world where detroit is just south of pittsburgh.
  14. here is shaka’s last team: here is beard’s first team: and those red, white, and blue logos are indicators that a guy played in the nba. but great stuff as usual motown. you talking about making posts based on feelings instead of facts is hilarious.
  15. oh yeah and he did all of this with zero nba players. but you’re right, there’s no evidence that he’s a top coach/great in the tourney.
  16. •took UALR (no.235 in kenpom the previous year) to a 30 win season, made the tourney and won a game in his first/only year •took Texas f’ing Tech to the elite 8 and then national title game in his second and third year •took over a Texas roster that was ready to win about 5 total games when he arrived and in his first season as HC led Texas to its first tourney win since 2014 with a team that had zero shooting, athleticism, or nba talent •built and drilled his second texas roster so well that rodney f’ing terry won the big xii tourney and took them to the elite 8 •has never lost in the first round •has 10 tourney wins in 4 tourney appearances, meaning his average tourney appearance sees him playing in the second weekend he’s the textbook definition of a tourney dynamo/top coach.
  17. rick barnes wins a ton in the regular season, doesn’t win in the tourney, you say he sucks. chris beard loses double digits in the regular season every year and is a tourney dynamo and you crush him for not winning more in the regular season. and people say texas fans have unrealistic expectations.
  18. he was bussin tonight. splashing everything.
  19. not super surprising considering he’s been coaching in the two best leagues in cbb and that the regular season has never been his thing. i guess it’s a little surprising that the number is that high, but not shocking. meanwhile rick barnes has road wins at wisconsin and kentucky this year alone. nobody will care if tennessee doesn’t make the elite 8 or better.
  20. doing a little more research on them and found out that their best player last year was a 1st-team All Name member:
