  1. for some reason most cbb fans don’t realize just how few good shooters are actually out there, and how few of the ones who are good are underclassmen. it’s rare. weaver has the make up of a guy who can grow into a reliable shooter. he needs game time and game reps to get there.
  2. barnes’s teams had an identity, and did not have this unpredictable, up-and-down nature that shaka/RT’s teams have. they might have stunk, and been disappointing, but they weren’t devoid of direction/personality and so hot and cold from game to game. also, and i just posted this in the barnes thread the other day, that last team of his didn’t lose to a single bad team. the worst of their 14 losses was an OT loss to NIT champs stanford, who finished as no.39 in kenpom. 11 of their 14 losses were to top 25 kenpom teams. again, they might have stunk, but they weren’t going to lose to any of the horrible teams that RT/Shaka teams will lose to.
  3. he’s got a really good looking stroke and is a smart player. i have no doubt that he can be a good shooter if given more/regular PT.
  4. shaka recruited world class track and field athletes who couldn’t shoot a lick (perfect for his style of play) only to abandon his style play, asking said athletes to play slow, half court sets where everyone stands around the perimeter waiting to shoot a three/watch someone else shoot a three without ever crashing the glass. shaka is a one-of-a-kind terrible coach. that said i agree with dcar, this team’s unpredictable, up-and-down nature defintely reminds me of shaka’s teams. no leadership from the bench, no identity on the court, no idea how we’re going to perform from game to game. this makes the team(s) capable of beating baylor and taking houston to OT only to lose to wvu and ucf. it’s pretty maddening. and it’s going to be a lot worse next year when the team loses nearly everyone of consequence and we still have no real identity or direction.
  5. that foul must have scared weaver, he’s white as a ghost!
  6. we had people here like 4 weeks ago saying we should have hired Tang lol.
  7. “let’s get dangerous.” -darkwing duck -that guy from KSU
  8. lol wut. ucla since he’s been there: 78 > 13 (final four) > 11 (sweet 16) > 3 (sweet 16). exactly 0 people here would be “apoplectic” if we had a down year with a young team after that kind of success.
  9. i totally agree with you, i was just making a joke. but apparently i don’t amuse you. he’s been awesome at UCLA and his teams definitely have a deserved reputation of being extremely tough, physical, and aggressive.
  10. you don’t really blame the players, blame the players.
  11. are you under the impression that that’s what we do here? accomplish things?
  12. george karl and melo taking shots back and forth at each other will always be funny.
  13. yeah if we lose tonight we’re staring 7-11 in the face, plus a 2-5 finish to the regular season (more likely to be 1-6 than 3-4 if we lose tonight). huge game.
  14. fuck it, every sport:
  15. shooting was never my thing anyway. always pass-first. they used to call me “young jokic”.
  16. if these soft ass players don’t want to compete they should opt out of the game. the whole purpose of the thing is to have one weekend dedicated to the fans. these soft ass, entitled kids couldn’t give a shit less. it’s pathetic. this weekend used to be badass. now it’s sad.
  17. micah parsons played harder during the celebrity game than any of the actual all stars did.
