  1. -Oregon visits Palo Alto this weekend. Stanford blows, but Mario Cristobal is west coast Tom Herman. He'll fuck up a game this year somewhere, so I wouldn't be shocked if it's this one. Good call
  2. I noticed in the Arkansas game, that everyone’s favorite safety Sloneal, had key roles in helping pig score on both touchdowns. Was hoping, because admittedly I an unable, someone can post the gifs or otherwise add to his already illustrious highlight reel.
  3. This is a Kyle Umlang tweet. Wow.
  4. I too live in a world where the Manning family wants their offspring to go to Texas so badly they will drop bags to near strangers to make it happen
  5. Thanks for the response. I interpret it (for the most part) that it takes time to implement what needs to be done and hopefully the above things get fixed for the next cycle and beyond. I agree with you on the bag game not going away with NIL. NIL will pay kids once on campus. Lots of top tier kids may not be patient enough to wait and will want the bag dropped with each camp visit, unofficial visit, official visit, commit and signature. I guess if our NIL game is so good it cause kids to wait then great, but as you said we have already fucked it up I am not holding my breath.
  6. Assuming you are in the know, do you know why we are not playing the game like Georgia (and I assume aggy)? With NIL we should now or soon be in the top payers tier. Or is it a distinction between NIL paying once on campus vs the bag game prior to campus (ie cash in hand to commit/sign). Do you know if Texas will only pay via NIL route and that is what is hurting our current efforts? I recall a CTJ post a while back that listed out tiers of playing the game and if I recall correctly those 2 schools were in the top group of anything goes. We were in the 2nd tier with bama. Ou in 3rd tier etc. also I have to believe we are playing some games in this cycle with recent commits from deep in SEC country of Louisiana and Alabama and Mississippi (?). What’s most disappointing is the loss of targeted top Texas recruits that are still turning us down even with incentives of NIL or otherwise. I keep hoping it is only because it takes a cycle to get a good bag game to take effect. I’ll hang up and listen.
  7. I thought I had been told on here that the bag game would not apply to Manning, given the family dynamics. l guess it just an additional factor now with NIL. And to clarify are you making a distinction between bag game and NIL or grouping as one in the same?
  8. Ha. Probably not. Just think aggy has enough talent to over come the qb online concerns. Maybe in typical aggy fashion they find a way to fuck it up. Go auburn, LSU, one of the Mississippi schools. Other than those (already including a bama loss) don’t see a L.
  9. True. I hope they lose every game. Problem is even with the qb and ol concerns the defense and running game with that schedule calls for a floor of 8 or 9 wins.
  10. To be devil’s advocate aggy looked like shit in the opener last year and finished just outside the playoffs. I know, I know their schedule was shit last year……. Just like this year.
  11. Said KU to BIG by this Friday. KU fan on post 1122 on this thread asked about his credibility. Apparently he was the first to know/start the excitement for KU fans.
  12. Maybe cujo from OB is legit on this one. Good call if true.
  13. I personally don’t find him credible, but he seems to have a following. Logic would say the chances of this guy knowing when no other leaks, corroborated reports or rumors are out there make it dubious. if helpful this was his last post:
  14. OB’s latest comments re NIL and recruiting: No. 3 - Stop with the NIL is crushing recruiting stuff...I can tell who does and does not read this column on a regular basis almost entirely by some of the reactions this weekend to the news that Texas is...wait for it...a bit sluggish in recruiting with elite prospects at the moment.SHOCKING!!!!!!Or not.One of the trendy talking points for those that will do anything to create talking points is to point the finger at the new boogieman of Texas football recruiting...NIL.Understand this - Texas' lack of momentum in the 2022 recruiting class didn't start on July 1. Almost eight months have passed since Texas landed Maalik Murphy in recruiting and the program hasn't landed a player in the Rivals Top 150 since. The reality is that it feels better to say that Kelvin Banks picked Oregon because of NIL as opposed to admitting that he might not believe in the vision and messaging of the program from the coaching staff. Or that he doesn't want to be alone in coming to Austin. It's just the newest form of excuse-making... the kind that Aggies have embarked on for much of the last 20-25 years before Jimbo Fisher was able to change the narrative.No. 4 - Let's go over the non-NIL problems...Instead of misplacing responsibility, let's take a look at the real issues facing the program as things currently stand in the 2022 class.1. As has been mentioned in this column countless times, elite of the elite prospects aren't giving this coaching staff the kind of first-year benefit of the doubt that Charlie Strong and Tom Herman both received.2. This staff can do better and finish better. Both the De'Anthony Gatson and Kelvin Banks recruitments featured miscalculations or misreadings. There's no reason to belabor the points again and again and again. The staff can be better.3. In the case of a few recruits around the state, there's a sense that there are briefcases full of cash in play. Of course, you know what the SEC calls recruitments that involve briefcases full of cash? They call it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...I don't know what to tell you about the third point, but the first two can be controlled and addressed with quality play on the field this season and the staff doing a better job.
  15. Not sure what you think my mindset is as I didn’t give it. Simply stated that it is strange to have Ou grouped in the non bag group on this board given the long history of cheating issues. I personally agree with you “in relative terms” from what I can tell. otherwise you are welcome to enlighten this board with your thoughts. either way go get fucked.
  16. To continue on the recruiting world is upside down path, we now have a broad swath of folks saying OU doesn’t cheat on a UT message board.
  17. At a minimum adding Baylor to the package. I guess the Basketball NC is a feather, but my god they seem toxic with their history and devout religious connections which typically run contrary to the politics of large state institutions of public education. Maybe I’m just biased, but I would consider them an anchor. unfortunately for tech (and really the rest/majority of the remaining 8 it’s going to be difficult to land in a power conference. Most likely they realize this and then add small markets to the 12 and take the buyout money.
  18. Puzzled by the Patton angst. The flags around this guy tell me he won’t be heard about again regardless of him being in Austin, Waco or Ann Arbor. what is way more worthy of discussion is my post above that basically outlines the total destruction of UT football in the coming months and years ahead. Well that or losing Patton.
  19. All this talk about aggy cheating is fine and dandy. The real issue as I understand it that payment to players is essentially legal now with NIL. Fine. bring it out in the open. Establish once on campus x type of player should see y amount of money. Presumably (I hope) we match or exceed what aggy bama or any other SEC team pays. I will say that out of the gate I am concerned that we may not take full advantage the new environment and continue to try to win with one hand tied behind our back. Seems like we are pretty much fucked with the 22 class. Maybe we get our ass in gear for 23. One thing seems clear though that payments will continue to kids not yet on campus, ie high-school recruits. Payments for visits. Payments for signatures. I have little doubt this is where Texas will continue to get beat up on the recruiting field. Will the 5 star or other top talented kids wait to get the money once they step on campus (at Texas) or will we continue to lose kids that can get the money early and then again when they step on campus ( at a school other than Texas?
