I just think they won't prosecute all of them.  just too many.  I could very well be wrong though.  we'll see.  they shouldn't let out of staters go though.

Fuck that.  They should absolutely prosecute them, especially if they were caught red handed.  There cannot be no consequences to actions.  I would probably be a little less upset if this were not roving gangs of criminals doing this.  This shit last night had NOTHING to do with the protests.  The protests during the day have been very peaceful.  There was NO protest on Madison or E 63rd last night at 2AM.  Make stupid decisions, fuck you.

whats another arrest for felony buglary. it will never go on your record. who cares.  they won't adjudicate all these looters and they know it. its pretty much free reign until they get tired or they don't have enough places to put the stuff.

Why would felony burglary NOT go on your record?  The fuckers hitting last night caused tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage through either stolen items or pure vandalism.

More than 400 people were awaiting arraignment in Manhattan criminal court Tuesday afternoon for allegedly looting stores Monday night — and most will likely be cut loose without bail because of the state law passed earlier this year, a court spokesperson said.

By 4 p.m., a majority of the 400 people arrested were awaiting arraignment and most will be hit with a felony burglary charge for which bail cannot be set, meaning they will be released, New York State Court spokesperson Lucian Chalfen said in an email...

...“But when it comes to a burglary, which is a commercial store, which is looting, they’re back out,” he said.

“Because of bail reform, you’re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail. I spoke to (Manhattan District Attorney) Cy Vance about that. He told me there was nothing he could do,” he added.

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference Tuesday morning that about 700 people were arrested during widespread looting in Manhattan and the Bronx....

Yeah, this makes me fucking angry.

Looks like NYC continues to be a shitshow but less of a shitshow than last night

What am I missing?  I am seeing that they turned away the protestors on the Manhattan Bridge (they told people to stay out of Manhattan).  I saw that someone looted Eataly, but not seeing a lot of other things.  Also, police alerts not going apeshit like they did last night.

Carcassonne.... we were supposed to visit there after our tour of England in 2018, but we got no further than London where Mrs, Brat went splat in the crypt at St. Paul’s, breaking her arm badly.

Our English friend who has a farm house in Chaillac had booked a hotel booked there for a couple of nights.

Once Coronavirus is over, I want to take a week in Paris, and then hit the Southwest, including Carcassonne.  I have heard the Southwest is absolutely stunning.  I have been to Uzes, which is Languedoc, but almost Provence, and it is absolutely GORGEOUS.  Texas hot in the summer too.

yeah but its on Madison Ave and I'm sure its run by 1%ers who didn't build that. lucky fucks.

Actually, the original store is on Rue St. Honore in Paris which is where it has been for ages and ages.  The Manhattan store is actually on E63rd between Central Park and Madison.  It is a quiet residential street, and the shop takes up the first two floors of the townhome.  FYI, for those on the looting.  They did not hit every store.  They only hit those that had high resale value.  As I said, planned and opportunistic.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but your post makes me want to go throw bricks at the nearest Goyard store, whatever that is.

No, you actually do not mean that in the nicest way possible, but I will excuse you being an asshole because that is what we are all known for.  Know this, it is family owned (has rebuffed takeover attempts by LVMH/Hering for ages) and maintains all its production (including fabric/leather working and hardware) in its workshops in France (Carcassonne I believe).  They beleive in maintaining all aspects of production inhouse and eschew e-commerce.  It is definitely a throwback.

And now for Goyard. I do business with them regularly, both here and in Paris. They were running their distance acquisition out of this store. Items had been packed to.ship to customer. Those empty ripped boxes were found strewn all over E 63rd between the store and Central Park.

I have some audio of the sounds of them cleaning up inside. It was a massive smash and grab. Most the glass casing inside was probably broken.

We have been on lockdown for more than 2 months. We were inching to be able to start opening on Monday. And now this. I am angry for my own selfish reasons, but I am also angry because this shit had nothing to do with the protests, but a lot of people will not understand this.

Nothing earth shattering here but I was on a conference call with an attorney and we were bullshitting about the riots before the call started and she mentioned she did pro bono work at bail hearings, etc. during Baltimore riots several years ago of people that were arrested for looting.  She mentioned that while there were certainly a lot of flat out criminals trying to take advantage of the opportunity, she was surprised how many 'normal' people just for whatever reason were angry and caught up in the moment (and were ashamed and regretful).  I'm sure it's a lot of the same here.

I wonder if the leaders of the peaceful protests that are condemning the destruction of property and looting are considering changing times (earlier in the day if not morning) and locations to try to weed out those that are hijacking the protest.  I'm sure some of that his already happening but one way to hopefully calm things down before law enforcement (military?) escalates further, because at some point there isn't going to be another choice.

I am sure that is the case in some places. The shit we saw up here last night, that was organized.  There was no protest or march.  These were gangs of youths.  They had lookouts and getaway cars.  People had seen them scoping out the neighborhood over the weekend.  Also, they did not hit all stores, only those with high resale value.  Fortunately, sounds like the fucker that got Goyard actually got caught (this happend at 2AM).  I would estimate that one store alone, looking at 100-200k of damage/merchandise.

Fun fact, they were operating the distance acquisition out of the store (i.e. they were taking orders and processing them) during the store closure, so some of the debris on the streets were items people had paid for, that were packed and ready to be picked up by FEDEX.

NYC is on an 8 PM curfew for the rest of the week (Just Announced).  Obviously, the curfew worked last night...

  11. I live smack in the middle of a solid blue city and this fuck is my Congressman. FUCK GERRYMANDERING.
Was mine too when I was in Houston. Its mind boggling.
  12. Yeah...what’s really off is that there doesn’t even look to be a march or anything - it’s literally JUST organized looting. So, like the exact thing the police SHOULD be acting to stop. WTF? Why are they sitting on their hands? What’s the motivation?

There were marches earlier. And they were largely peaceful. Tonight, its gangs of kids. They have spotters on mopeds, smash and grab, then have getaway cars. It's both white and black, and almost all seem young (under 25 for the most part).

On the police, who knows. Supposed to be 8k out patrolling, but just too much madness going on. Oak and Barrel is about 2.5 blocks from me, so hitting very close to home.

  13. good point. I guess if there were people from the 46 rioting in the 04 you could technically say "Hunter and Bryce are outside agitators and not from here"
They are not fucking up their own Hood. While other stores are being hit (Nike, Adidas, etc..), lots of high end stores are being absolutely hammered.
