  1. Ah yes, so the guy who was on terrestrial radio (the whole time lamenting the death of print media), then left radio to do a streaming show run by (checks notes) print media (and all the while lamenting the death of terrestrial radio), then left to do a podcast on a start up company that lasted all of 6 months or so, then started his own podcast that maybe 20 people listen to, has gone back to.... terrestrial radio.  How did we not see that coming?

  2. A couple more I just remembered

    Ringo-Early 1970 (his old mates)
Tom Petty & the Heartbraekers-Swingin' (Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Sammy Davis)
Def Leppard-Rocket (Beatles, Elton, Bowie, etc...)
    Fountains of Wayne-Supercollider (Pink Floyd)

which makes me kick myself that I forgot two of the most obvious songs written about another musician...

    Shine On You Crazy Diamond
    Wish You Were Here
(and could also add Brain Damage and Nobody's Home, all for Syd, and of course Vera-Vera Lynn)

and I guess we can just throw in the entire Rumours album as well

    John Mellencamp-ROCK in the USA
There was Frankie Lyman, Bobby Fuller, Mitch Ryder
    (They were rockin')
    Jackie Wilson-Shangra-Las-Young Rascals
    (They were rockin')

    Spotlight on Martha Reeves
    Let's don't forget James Brown
  3. Eagles-Hotel California (Steely Dan), as payback for Steely Dan-Everything You Did (Eagles)
Grand Funk Railroad-An American Band (Freddie King)
ELO - Shagri-la (Beatles, and "Hey Jude")
Billy Joe Shaver-Tramp on Your Street (Hank Williams)
    Chuck Berry-Roll Over Beethoven
A couple more about John Lennon:  Paul McCartney-Here Today, Elton John-Empty Garden
John Lennon-How Do You Sleep (Paul McCartney)
    Bruce Springsteen-Thunder Road (Roy Orbison)
    Steely Dan-FM (Elvis)
REM-Man on the Moon (Mott the Hoople, Elvis)
    Commodores-Nightshift (Marvin Gaye)
    The Who-The Seeker (Dylan, Beatles)
A couple of "list songs": Tex Ritter-Hillbilly Heaven; George Jones-Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes
Neil Young-My My, Hey Hey (Johnny Rotten)

as in the one song above, Barclay James Harvest-Titles (the lyrics are all Beatles song titles/lyrics), actually a pretty cool song, I really dig it (this video cannot be more 70's, with that All the Young Dudes opening...)

Franklin, TN over a pride parade.

Slight thread derail, not in TN but right here in Taylor goddamn Texas.  We actually had two Christmas parades last year, made all the local news, al the way up to the Washington Post and WSJ (read em if you have a sub).  Quick backstory:  2021 - local pride group wants to have a float in the xmas parade.  Parade is dually hosted by the city and the Taylor Area Ministerial Alliance (TAMA).  Pride group said on their application they were just going to have some marchers with flags, singing xmas carols.  Well, parade comes, group actually has a float with a drag queen lip synching Mariah Carey.  I will give them points off for that deception, kind of lit the kindling.

Come 2022, TAMA changes the requirements on the entry form, says all entries must "represent wholesome family or Christian values".  Shots fired.  Pride gest upset, says they are being discriminated against, city says we can't legally discriminate against any group so we are pulling out of the parade, instead we'll have our own "Happy Holidays Festival" parade.  School groups etc get caught in the middle, so they all pull out, no band, no cheerleaders, no dance groups, etc.  So the solution?  Two parades - first, the holy rollers parade, then literally, a 1 minute gap, then the city parade with the fire trucks and civic leaders in convertibles, yada yada, and the pride group with 3 drag queens.  One of which was named Sidonya Face (love it!).  Cops lined the streets waiting for sit to go down, apparently it turned out pretty civil (we left town, didn't want to be anywhere near that shitshow).  Should be really interesting in a few months when pride month gets here and they want to shut down the main city block to have a festival again.

  7. Fuck em all, they're all whores.  They'll walk right up to the line, ooh, I'm gonna spill the beans, then somebody pays them off or reminds them of some kompromat and it disappears.  Grifters one and all, spineless ones at that.  Same as Lincoln Project, Noel Casler (Apprentice/Trump pageant staffer), etc, - cock teases all, we have all the dirt, we just can't give it to you....  Fuck off.

  8. I sincerely apologize to Delbert for neglecting him in this thread, motherfucker taught John Lennon how to play.  One of the most overlooked Texas musicians, just realized he's 82, good vibes and hopefully many healthy years to come.

Hope we get more like this since it’s very rare that we ever do from them.

Saw that posted on Twitter yesterday morning, it was glorious.  Think I enjoy it more without vocals.  Not a guitar player myself, but the the chords he pulls up in this song are amazing.  Coming between IV and Physical Graffiti, this seems to be kind of an overlooked album, but it's definitely one of my favorites.  No filler at all, in my opinion anyway.  Yes even The Crunge.
