Speaking of Tom Herman. Did he really outperform Jimbo?

Top 25 finishes: Herman 3 in 4 seasons, Jimbo 2 in 6 seasons.

Top 10 finishes: Herman 1 in 4 seasons, Jimbo 1 in 6 seasons.

NY6 wins: Herman 1, Jimbo 1 (Covid year)

Their greatest hire of all time really did worse than a mediocre hire of ours. Incredible. The only thing that even makes this close is the bullshit Covid season.

for some good laughs do a similar exercise against our decade of demise vs their best decade since 1939 (same years)

But they will jump us over Oregon in that scenario in my opinion to avoid the controversy. So Bama beating Georgia is one of our strongest paths if FSU doesnt drop a game.

this has been my game theory for awhile as well

assuming bama and texas win out, committee will look for any opportunity to toss us both in there to avoid the controversy

Interesting, indeed. It's funny how we're so used to them shitting in their own punch bowl that the fact that they are firing him because they're afraid he'll win a big game doesn't stand out so much.

Jimbo has to go. We need to fire him.

Okay, as soon as the season's over we'll make the move. Good headstart. We can start preparing the search.

    Not so fast.

    Oh?

I'm worried he'll beat LSU with a third string QB.

Worried? Isn't that a good thing for A&M.

No. Not if he does it. If he does it, we can't fire him.

You've already decided to fire him.

Yes. But if he wins the LSU game, I'll be forced to change my mind.

    Annnnnd, why is that?

You just don't get it, do you? What if he beats LSU forcing me to keep him and then he beats tu next year? Huh, smart guy? What then?

These are not goals you want to achieve?

The goal is to get rid of him. I've made up my mind. Are you paying attention?

    Especially if he wins.

    Now you're getting it, son.

I knew that I shouldn't have taken this job.

Careful , you're getting dangerously close to understanding them .

Believe it or not I didn't mean it that way

Moorehead and Arnett were just that bad

Would be around 30 million, assuming he makes 5m/year and, as rumored, contract goes until 2029.

Wtf , that junior jimbo levels of dumb

Is this all from the one super senior big12 champ appearance ?

  6. I mean miss state makes some sense, they are desperate for a coach with a pulse and the expectations are low

I could also see baylor if he's real pissed off at TCU , expectations are also fairly low there

Talked to an aggy friend yesterday evening. His thoughts.

Everyone in CFB at the time was convinced that Jimbo was a great hire. It wasn't a bad decision.

The firing of Jimbo shows aggy commitment to excellence.

He expects the next hire to be big.

Elko and Traylor are beneath aggy. It will be an Urban type hire. Also, Traylor is a tsip hack.

no offense, but your friend is a dumbass

'Everyone in CFB' they probably mean everyone on 'Tex Ags'

I can speak to here, and to reddit/r/cfb and everyone trashed every part of the Jimbo hire immediately. The fact he was about to get fired from FSU, the crappy seasons that were spiraling downward, the lack of OLine investment, and of course the ridiculous buyout clauses on the contract.

And just to take that thought further, I know Jimbo was pretty dumb, and had made a bunch of poor roster moves, and had an ancient offense. But if they just would have given it another year or two just see if Petrino made a difference, and to see Weigman back, they might have actually gotten to 9-3 anyway. There still is some talent on that roster.  So they blew $80MM to basically get to the same record they probably would have had anyway.

They still had an outside chance at 9-3 this year with their current staff

They rushed to fire jimbo after a 50-10 thrashing of msu just to roll the dice of finding a better coach and changing the narrative

Why not lane kiffin? Both him and Bjork from ole miss and he would also keep everyone on D because Durkin was his DC before going to aggy.

Because Lane is a like a kid in a candy store with the female talent in Oxford.

What's he going to do in College Station to get his fix , import them from Austin ?

Something Herman didn’t have was NIL. He also didn’t recruit the trenches at all. Sark has those two things and an actual staff that can develop.

He'd have blown it all on blow ,  Kendra Scott, and wide recievers
