Jonathan Smith at Michigan State could soon be on the good list. He did a great job identifying and developing offensive talent at Oregon State.

This organization doesn't have a good track record when they reach for picks. Taco, Mazi, Schoonmaker, Kelvin Joseph, Nashon Wright, Trysten Hill, etc
The hit rate on selecting players that are projected around where Dallas takes them has been pretty good. Getting Beebe for free made this a pretty good draft so far.- 1

I’ve seen some mocks that had Beebe in the first round. Certainly a projected second round player. The adults in the room are definitely running this draft for Dallas.

Many had him the the top 40 overall, and ahead of other edge rushers. Nice pick.
They took a player on one of the lines that was projected at or higher than where we took him. Not sure you can complain about the pick.- 1

I realize a lot of this is opinion and conjecture, but who the fuck watched film and thought JJ McCarthy is a better prospect that Penix or Nix? The Vikings took a guy I think that goes in the 3-4th round in any other draft.

Dallas didn’t fuck up the draft so far. They trade back, get the guy most thought they take at 24 and get an extra third round pick. That’s about as good as it could have gone.

That does not suck.

Sark is doing Spring exit interviews for every player on the team. The players that get told "you suck and will likely never see the field at Texas" are likely going to get the hint and jump in the portal.
I cannot imagine that is the message Austin Jordan will get. -
Well, shit. Our questionable secondary did not need to lose a starter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the WRs left. Between Wingo, Cook, and all the transfers, somebody will get squeezed out of playing time, and it ain’t gonna be Wingo or Cook.
I was thinking this with Golden and Bolden. Someone is going to be second team and I cannot think Golden especially came to Texas to be the 4th or 5th guy. -
Kirk Nepo-Baby Ferenz has to be on the Ugly list for the visual assault he puts fans through every time his offense takes the field.
-
I wonder if not playing in the Spring game was a tell. The secondary looked like shit and it wouldn’t be improved by losing our best player there.
-
Wasn’t Red the one that got in a heated argument with one of our coaches on the sidelines during a game that was visible during the broadcast?

You're absolutely right. The coaches forgot that the secondary exists.
Sure looked that way Saturday. Watching Taaffe’s bizarre play it reminded me of playing Madden 95 on Sega and you clicked to change the player and dive and the player you immediately switched to dives crazily in the wrong direction of the play. It’s the only explanation to explain Taaffe diving randomly into the opposite direction of the play. Someone must of been controlling him remotely and they hit the wrong button.- 1

He may also see how many Texas is taking and think he won't get the snaps he wants.
Honestly the spring game didn't look as bad as I was thinking. It's only one exhibition but the addition of Toia and Norton seem like they may be enough there. They may need to find 2 new DB coaches in the portal though
Our safeties, including veterans look lost still. I’m about to go Office Space on Gideon and ask what is it that you do here?- 3

My only gripe with this is that deep coverage busts happen in real games, and too often our QBs (between Colt and Quinn) didn't see it or, if they did, missed the throw. Arch saw it immediately and found the receiver. If he can do that a couple of times in a season, those are free points.
Agree. I was speaking in context of evaluating the wide receivers. Watching a receiver run a fly route and catching a deep pass against busted coverage doesn’t say much about that receiver. Cook made contested catches for first downs against our best corner and that was encouraging.- 2
-
Johntay Cook had some really nice routes and catches going up against the ones. He’s definitely one of our starting three. As fun as it is to watch a wide open receiver catch a bomb, that doesn’t tell us much.
On the Manning to Blue TD, Taffe looked like a walk on. He took such a terrible angle that he nearly tore his own ACL. That was brutal to watch. I bet we see Mukuba and Williams as the starting pair for most of the snaps this year.

Going 3 for 3 on the transfer DT’s would make the IT handwringing on Baker look completely regarded.
I don’t see what Baker has to do with landing these three tackles. They are all connected to Nansen and NIL is doing the rest of the work.- 3

That guy has bust written all over him. He’s in it for the NIL and NIL only.

No one wants Brooks, the top running back taken in the draft over LJ Johnson who might get passed up this season by his own teammate, Ruben Owens. That’s some serious Aggy logic at work.
