That was during a completely different era of college football.

Era doesn't really impact when highly rated players pan out or not. He was talking about highly rated linebackers' performance and claimed we didn't have any go beyond very good. I think we can all agree that he exceeded that.

i was thinking about malik as well.  maybe my memory is specific and selective too, but it seems like when we've gotten high end bluechip lbs, they have been solid to very good, but maybe haven't progressed while on the 40.  hicks certainly had flashes, but he's an nfl star now and didn't seem to take over games in college.  even way back to aaron harris - who i was so excited to get - seemed to stay steady and solid but never turned into a superstar.  i was sure he'd be a monster, but seemed to already be developed physically and within his game.

Derek Johnson and his Butkus and Nagurski disagree... although I get what you mean. The proportion of those that turn into all conference level players seems low.

I've seen Willie run out of cash and a few (very few) times I've seen him run out of patience. The one thing he's never done in the forty five years of our association is run outta weed or jokes.

Wouldn't that be 2 things? I guess some educated idiots can count that high.

I didn’t but if you think that a message board poster is equal to someone that watches film and writes articles over that for a living than more power to you.

EJ does this for a living...so maybe that isn't a strong argument either.

My bad on not citing the quote but  I almost forgot that everyone on here has been scouting for years and can dictate who’s a legit scout and who’s not. If he’s freelance then what the fuck are we? A bunch of no-name posters who we think has knowledge of the game but by all means could be regurgitating shit on the internet and calling it ours.

The point is Murray has good arm strength and you don’t have to be a scout, freelance sports writer or a dude from here to realize that.

Edit: if you want to look up the the freelance writer, his name is josh owning, dies a lot of film room work.

My point which you so eloquently made for me is that you basically quoted a fucking message board poster.

I mean how many people flick it, off one leg, 50 yds, perfect placement?  It’s like y’all have never watched football before. That’s a Mahomes/Allen/Rodgers type throw.

Did that throw change his source? Did it change how he presented it?

Well my argument revolves around scouting evidence that says he isn’t graded well because he’s a multi-sport athlete. Like the quote said, which you totally just ignored.

But ill go further with evidence from scouting reports for football, since I guess you won’t take a low rep opinion seriously.

Compact delivery really generates a lot of torque, baseball background is evident and effective to create velocity. Easy thrower, capable of pushing the ball vertically, even when his base remains unset. Ball explodes off his hand and arrives with great pace and trajectory.”

Despite his lack of size (5-foot-10, 195 pounds), Murray has a powerful arm that he uses to rifle passes to his targets with high velocity. He doesn't typically throw into a lot of tight windows, but the velocity Murray can put on his passes lends itself well to tight-window throws in the NFL. That arm strength allows Murray to complete passes to every portion of the field.”

I could go on and on and on. Listen he’s not up there with fucking Elway or Marino but he has well above average arm strength and everyone sees but you...

You quoted a freelance sportswriter for DMN for a fucking scouting report and then didn't even cite it.

Was actually at the Kappa Sig house.  He was still a sr. in hs and it was very comical.  Had to stop the game multiple times due to everyone there throwing their beers on the court after he dunked.

Yeah, I had a good time. Could've been on the moon as far as I remember.

Does anybody else remember him destroying everybody at the Fiji Low Hoop tournament back around 2000? It was when he still played WR, so he was still pretty thin. Hell, if it was still his freshman year, he would have been the reigning CenTex POY. That shit was comical.

Yah, of course that'd suck. But not sure the staff really thinks that way, or many staffs. If they want the guy, they want the guy. They knew of character concerns before they offered, I'm sure.

I'm not too concerned with the flakiness we've seen since he verbal'd, no matter how fucking annoying it is. I don't think the guy has a good structure around him, then of course you have FWK, whatever you think about him. When he's on campus, head down going to work, no more worrying about everybody wanting him etc..., that's where it really begins.

EDIT: I know this is a little strange for Surly, but I do understand people who just want him to sign elsewhere because they think he's too much of a character concern, and too much of a risk or whatever. That's just not my opinion.

I'm more concerned with him getting into a physical altercation with one of his high school coaches. I don't care if a 17 year old is a flake; it's to be expected. I just don't see him as worth the effort given the risk. His ceiling is really high, but his floor is equally low. I just don't think he'll maximize. I'd rather use the scholarship on someone else. Good luck wherever he goes.

    D. Overshown - .9737

    T. Owens - .9206  (probably going higher)

    C. Admiora - .9191

Prospects:  Chris Thompson & Eric Snow both in the .9500 range

    Jordan Moore - .9143

The smart move is to pass and save the 'ship for a 2020 recruit.  But who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

It's Eric Snow, Jr.... and it's pronounced Darius.
