I’m sorry I asked the question. I didn’t mean to stump all of our in house scouts with such a tough question.

When you are comping players, you have to remember a style to be compared. People don't remember shitty players as well as great players. That's why they always end up comparing them to all-timers. Similar styles don't equate to similar results.

Speaking of arm injuries... With the epidemic of TJ surgeries and major shoulder issues in MLB, does it worry anyone else to see our prime pitching prospects continuing to play in the AFL?

    Let the kids rest.

The ones you'd worry about (Whitley and Bukauskas) didn't get too many innings this year due to a suspension and injuries. It's a good way to build up innings so the jump in innings next year is smaller.

There was this recruit back when Mack first got here...."Mike Williams" I think.  Before Hudl or Twitter or maybe even Rivals...anyway...right after signing day that Feb, Mack came to the Longhorn Club luncheon at the Ervin Center with a film of all of the players who had just signed.  I forget now which class it was...it may have been the one with Roy Williams, Sloan and BJ...anyway..this linebacker Williams absolutely stole the show.  Best fucking highschool "highlight reel" of that bunch, or any other bunch I had ever seen.  Left the luncheon awestruck.  I don't think he ever played a down at Texas, and I have never seen another highlight reel like that until this Floyd thing...same kind of deal ....violent.

And yes, his highlight tape was unreal. Only thing I remember from that time frame more impressive was Quan Cosby's highlight with all of the punt returns (I think he scored on something like 7 of 14 punt returns his senior year).

Southern California weather might be a fabulous place for someone with a known heart condition to get away from the snow and cold of the rust belt. But a move like that would require a year of “retirement” to get all of the i’s dotted and t’s crossed. That year would need to be coached by some lame duck former USC guy. Somebody like Todd Helton.

He'd just be keeping the seat warm for Peyton Manning anyway...with a quick Brandonn Stewart detour in between.

Look, I'm not at all pleased that we lost to OkSt on Saturday.  But the truth is, it really doesn't fucking matter.  We weren't going to the playoff this year anyway.  We are not an elite team (not this year).  But our guys do play really fucking hard and we punish opponents for making mistakes.  OkSt just didn't really make any.  We have a true and consistent gamer at quarterback for the first time since Colt McCoy.  We also have a head coach who finally gives a shit—that is something else we haven’t had in about a decade.

Yes, we sucked shit through a straw on Saturday… mostly on defense, where we looked outright lost for most of the night.  But on offense too, although there were a few flashes of brilliance (e.g., Ehlinger’s dime to Beck), LJH and even CJ had some massive drops that are extremely atypical for their usual level of play.  Our run blocking was also bad for most of the game.  To say it was an off night for us is an understatement.  And then there was the officiating, which to be certain did not help things, but the effort we showed through 3 quarters was more than enough to lose the game on our own.

Nevertheless, Sam fucking Ehlinger led us to get within 3 at the end of the game—despite everything, we STILL had a chance to win the fucking thing.  That effort was sadly undone by a subsequent shitty special teams play, a phantom holding penalty that negated what could have been our game winning drive, and a shitty defensive stand in the final minutes.  So we lost.  We went 0-1 this week.  But, and let me be clear about this: It. Does. Not. Fucking. Matter.  All that matters is how our team responds.  They know this, and they are going to fucking respond.  They have done it all season.

We still control our own destiny to arrive in the Big 12 championship game on December 1st.  I feel supremely confident in saying that we will not have a game as shitty as Saturday's for the rest of the season.  Whatever pressure we had on ourselves from before that game with trying to make our way into the CFP is now dissipated.  The orange voodoo from a Halloween night game in Stillwater is now gone.  I believe our team will play looser and more determined to win the rest of this season.  We are going to get there, and it will start this Saturday against WVU.

Here are my fearless predictions for the rest of the season:

Texas wins its next 4 games (WVU, @TTU, ISU, @KU) and will play OU for the conference title on December 1st.

WVU- Yes, their offense is legit and Grier is good.  Grier also trusts his receivers implicitly and throws balls up to them all the time, which has made WVU very turnover prone this season.  We will pick him off a couple times on Saturday and will do enough to win.

@TTU- This game was scarier before our loss to OkSt.  Now I’m sure that we will win it.  Tech has OU in the prime time slot this weekend, and they will leave it all on the field.  That game will be their chance to blow their load for the season, and they will.  Their game against OU will go one of two ways: either Tech will play its game but lose in such a manner that they will be deflated going into the following week (against us) or Tech will beat OU outright in a shootout.  Regardless of that outcome, Tech will play us the following week feeling that they can handle us without issue (as Tech demolished OkSt in Stillwater earlier this season).  Our team, however, will not be fucking around, and we will take them.

ISU- Out of all our remaining games, I am most glad we are playing this one at home.  ISU is every bit as good this year as they were last year.  This will be a hard fought slugfest, but we will pull away in the end on senior night.

@KU- If we don’t win this game, then fuck us and fuck everything I just said, because we won’t deserve shit.  That said, we’ll win this game.

We will arrive for our rematch with OU in the Big 12 CCG at 10-2.  I have no idea how that game will go.  But however it goes, I know we will have opportunities in the game to beat them and win the conference.  Herman and our team are deadliest when playing the underdog role.

In conclusion, fuck OU and Hook ‘em Horns.

This team is relatively good at home and bad on the road. I expect a close loss in Lubbock and a much closer game than it should be in a win in Lawrence. Currently, we play to our competition. We won't be remotely back until we play to a standard regardless of competition. We're not there yet, but we are trending in the right direction.

This is supposed to be the beef class right? Good start.

The Texas leans look good for next year, but I'd argue the class of beef is 2021. The early top of the rankings are heavy with state of Texas OL. Should be a couple of good years in a row.

Then why is he on Twitter raging about it?  He's trying to be a fan, a "Lifetime Longhorn", and Skip Bayless at the same time.  He fucked up and won't own it because he's a duplicitous media crank working for the clicks and a bigger profile.  Fuck him.

I can agree with what he said without liking the manner in which he did it. At the end of the day, Boyd played like shit. He's played poorly on a consistent basis since he's been here all while beating his chest  You can rail against Acho all you want, but at the end of the day, you're still talking about him...a lot. It pays just as well, if not better, to be hated as it does to be loved. Maybe he's not the idiot.

Then why did he refuse to name him?  And then coyly state "you guys know who it is"?

He's a POS and is riding up front on the Skip Bayless career-in-journalism train.

Because it's Twitter? Anyone expecting anything of substance or nuance from a platform designed for overt simplicity and baiting is only going to be disappointed.

Nope. But don't go to practices and act all buddy buddy, then post shit during games. If I was Herman I would politely tell Acho to fuck off and not come around the program until he can contain his social media doucheness. Acho craves the social media attention, more than he does anything else in his life.

Boyd doesn't understand accountability...it's why he was late to the meeting. Charlie recruited a bunch of front runners. I can be nice to someone and think they aren't good at what they do. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. If Boyd doesn't want to be criticized, he can show up on time and play better. It's really that simple.

I wish Boyd had played better last night, but its not like he was matched up against some scrub. Dudes been lighting teams up all season.

Boyd was our best option either way.

This is the real problem. Boyd is an NFL athlete. He's not an NFL player....and definitely not an NFL corner. He might get a shot, but he'll be out of the league in short order.

Fuck Hager and that weak pussy bullshit. Bench his ass. Only senior that needs to play is Chris Nelson, Calvin Anderson and Andrew beck. Vahe is straight garbage. Locke and Boyd need to ride the fucking pine too.

They were jawing before the play. Hagar went at him hard, but nothing dirty. That's what happens in a football game. Sure, I think Hagar's a paper tiger, but I don't have a problem with that play

Texas was also the beneficiary of some missed calls. The last hold was on a different player who was in the end zone which would've resulted into a safety. They completely missed it.

You're literally describing the same play I described in my post. Are you fucking retarded? I'm sorry. Let me correct myself - YOU'RE FUCKING RETARDED.

  13. Texas 11-84

    OSU 4-52

Pretty much sums up the ball game. The biggest thing was the timing of the calls. Boyd was flat out held on the last TD. Locke was held on the final first down. We got called for holding on third down conversion on what should have been a safety if there was holding (there wasn't). All around poorly officiated game.
