FWIW - Marion, recently re-engaged with the Texas program, has started following Haulcy.  I'm really hoping they take the initiative on this kid - especially if that other Safety has made it known he intends to stay where he is at.

I know there are still lessons to be learned when it comes to the portal but we should have been all over this kid regardless. Gideon, Joseph, and PK should have jumped on this kid. Kids are going to say one thing and do another when it comes to the portal and if Anderson was the safety in question I would have believed it once his name was in the portal.

You said our passing game “sucking” is turning kids away and other schools are recruiting against it.

So the University of Houston, who is losing their starting QB and had to bring in the 3rd stringer from Texas Tech in the portal, convinced Jonah Wilson and Ryan Niblett that they need to decommit from Texas because Houston’s passing game is better off in the future? It had nothing to do with Jonah Wilson needing to stay close to home for personal reasons or Niblett having a single mom and 3 siblings and Houston’s campus being 20 minutes away from his home? Niblett just all of sudden realized 10 days before signing day “oh shit, Houston had a better passing game than Texas last year I probably need to go there”

Did Niblett just all of a sudden realize 10 days before signing day that he has a single mom and 3 other siblings in Houston?

There’s no need to fuck around with anything but bluest of the blue HS WR when you can go snag a guy who you know who he is from the portal. I don’t see any reason why we should ever worry about signing any more than 2 high school WR per year when you can go add one or two more ready to play immediately at any time.

People keep saying this regarding the portal, but our WR portal takes thus far has yet to fully be realized in anyway. We have already lost one WR recruit and are in danger of losing another. There is no guarantee we get the necessary talent from the transfer portal either. We will never be the only school shopping for WR talent in the portal.

I guess Deion said, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

I think it's more likely his parents saw business opportunity in Jackson, MS that they probably don't see in Boulder, CO, so they aren't going to force him to go there.

Context matters (so I’ve been told.) Dykes isn’t that great. (Ok yeah whatever.)

He had a lot of upper classmen. (True—so I assume Sark could have done the same at TCU this year…nope.)

Duggan is a robot. He’s really 35 years old. We’d have smote either team down in the big 12 championship…blah blah blah…does everyone feel better? I’ve heard every excuse in the book. The last few weeks. Sonny outcoached Sark in the regular season and he was able to take the roster he had and using a legit OC scheme around their strengths. That to me is the mark of a good HC. Will he be great? Who knows? Could Sark have gone to TCU this year and done what Sonny and his staff accomplished? (Narrator: Nope.) Could Sonny have come to UT this year and made it to the Big 12  championship and go on to the CFP? I believe he would. Especially with Rojo and Bijan.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter what I think. We aren’t playing for the CFP. You can make all the excuses you want for why that is. Will Satk ultimately in the long term be a better HC than Dykes? I guess we’ll see. But right now scoreboard and all that…Sonny did a better job in year one at TCU than Sark has done in the last two years at UT. If iT makes you feel better at night when you’re rocking yourself to sleep to say Sark is better at this point that’s fair. A better argument will be where will these two HCs be in 5 years. Because apparently we can’t compare Sark and Sonny now because of context etc…

Remind me, once it was clear it wasn't going to be Urban, were you rooting for Dykes to get the job?

I'm sure you are a Worthy apologist but his lack of effort or "ball tracking " is obvious. You pick, it is one or the other and damn sure isn't neither.

His best throws to Worthy were in the Bama game. Outside of that the majority of the balls were overthrown. So yeah I'd prefer my QB be able to hit my wide open WR at least 50% of the time instead of putting the onus on my WR to always have to adjust to badly thrown balls. Another thing is Ewers deep balls get there pretty quickly, probably would help if he put more air under it. Regardless Worthy was not the root of the issue on the passing game.

  7. I also find it comical how this “Xavier can't track deep balls” thing has taken off this board with really no proof as such. The majority of the deep balls thrown his way were overthrown period. Just because he is fast enough to get within 2,3 yards by the time the ball hits the ground doesn’t mean he couldn’t track it. Also it’s amazing none of this was talked about last year and he had a bigger year with a less talented QB. Worthy was maybe 10-15% of the issues in the deep passing game.
