That's not really true. That IT article was pretty much step 1 in a 4 or 5 step process that ends with the commit going somewhere else, and CTJ chimed in again sort of as well. This isn't happening. Which sucks, b/c he was a silent after his visit.
The IT article said nothing new. I don't see anything of merit that CTJ added recently either. I'm honestly not sure what mental gymnastics some of you are performing to be in the current state y'all are in regarding this recruitment. As I see it neither side is overly confident and this could go either way at this point. Y'all are really just being some pessimistic pussies.

So nothing new has been said today yet y'all are in here acting like a bunch of bitches.

I don’t get the LSU thought of how a sped up timeline favors them. Simmons still has an OV to them for the Florida game this season, so presumably stringing it out would help them. Maybe they just think his UOV last weekend was that good, but on Monday Justin Wells was pointing out the lack of updates on the LSU side was very telling and good for us.
IT/Texas ON3 are saying Texas. Nahlin and Gerry have both put in RPM’s for Texas. Nahlin’s was way too high and he’s had to walk it back a bit, but both are still standing by the picks.
They also stood on their Gipson picks.

After reading Frenzy’s Twitter posts, sure seems like more confidence by the LSU mods than what our guys keep rehashing.
He just came off a visit to LSU so of course they'll be more confident. A better comparison would be how confident the Texas guys were after his official visit here. Regardless I think the main thing to watch out for here is if Durham and Simmons are announcing together.

One would have to be as bored as a football fan in the offseason with no recent big recruit commitments. Maybe even one whose kids have Harry Potter on TV yet again. 🤘
Thanks for helping make my point.

I wonder how boring of a life does someone must have to be amused by this kind of shit.

I'm not sure why it's so hard for some of you to understand a kid waiting to see if his brother is going to decide to transfer before committing to the same school.

Honestly not sure why most of you were slamming on Roach like IT hasn’t been terribly wrong(Banks) like this before.

I'm gonna laugh hard when TCU stomps him opening weekend.
Why? Is the expectation is he will have CU on TCUs level in one offseason? Strange seems some of you will be rooting for TCU in that game. I’d much prefer watching TCU getting handed an embarrassing loss.

Because that’s recruiting and RT has this job partially based on that
Recruiting is telling Holland he can come in and immediately compete for a starting spot and he'll be in an offense that will allow him to score from the wing.
Recruiting is not promising a starting spot and or an offense will be centered around him.

money was/is there. Usage and promises is why Holland probably ends up at arky and makes us all vomit
If usage and promises were the issue I wonder why in the fuck are you blaming RT.

Deion is about to get him a new safety.
Wouldn’t bet on it but maybe. Not sure his parents think Boulder is as good of a market for turkey legs as Jackson, MS was.

Maalik did what he was supposed to do. You guys can continue to play whatever mental gymnastics y’all want on why he looked better than the other QBs.

It's the Spring Game. Everyone is running vanilla shit.
Well the things I mentioned were things I felt he did better than the other QBs who were playing under the same circumstances.

I liked that Murphy seemed to know what the defense was going to give him pre snap and immediately took it even if it was just a dump off. Also his deep balls were the best we’ve seen in quite some time. I’m not going to clamor for him to be QB1 yet, but Ewers leash should be a lot shorter than it was last year.

Officiating in the second half completely changed this game. Also going to Allen in the post did not yield very good returns and slowed the offense down. Bishop was pretty bad this game too. Couldn't catch shit cleanly.
-
So this player led team is only good to great defensively under a specific coach. I guess they only hold each other accountable on the offensive end.

Idk when I watch the games it doesn’t really appear like we run a bunch of plays for Mitchell to score the basketball. Seems to me like he is out there to play defense, play in transition, and be athletic. And I’m not sure I’d agree he has regressed.
Also it seems to me some of you would balk at a FF appearance if it meant years of uncertainty with a coach you felt deserved this job instead of Terry getting the interim tag removed. Which is an insane thought IMO.

The "we should give Terry a year or 2 to prove he can build a roster" is not convincing.
This is Texas. Not a school where coaches prove they can build a roster and learn on the job.
Is there some rich basketball tradition at Texas in the last 20 years that I am unaware of? What exactly is "This is Texas" supposed to mean here?
4 minutes ago, Pancho said:You don't give coaches a 1-year contract. You cannot have him be interim for one year. That's not a thing.
Assistants would leave, and none would come here. Recruits would bail. The portal would be useless.
Yall need to stop with this horseshit idea of "give him 1 more year as interim" because you're showing your idiocy. You wouldn't want this in football so why are yall suggesting it for basketball?
I am not opining for him to be given a one year contract or return as interim coach for one year. You give him a 3-4 multi-year contract with a small buyout(show and prove). Terry loves this school, and I am sure he understands the current position he and the school is in. I don't think he would command much and would relish the opportunity to prove he is up for this job. If he fails we can cut bait.

It's almost like that's why Texas should hire a coach with experience building rosters at a school like Texas instead of just praying that Terry can do it.
I don't think its a prayer, I think you'd find out rather quickly if Terry could do so or not. I don't think anyone is suggesting we lock Terry up long term based on this year. But the unrealistic expectations some of you are setting for him to get the interim tag removed is asinine. Terry bleeds burnt orange and in my personal opinion at least deserves another year to prove if he can hack it at this job if he takes this team to the second weekend.

I don't have a problem with anything Derka said. College sports are 90% about roster building with talent and experience.
Sure, getting to the Sweet 16 is an achievement but it's primarily driven by the fact that Beard is exceptional at building rosters from the portal and recruiting. If Terry was accomplishing this with his own roster you would have an argument.
How do we know Terry wouldn't be able to roster build here at Texas without even giving him one year to do so? Did Beard already have guys lined up to replace all the experience we were losing this year that are now bailing?

how much of our success this year is because of RT, and how much if it is because of this senior-laden roster who all returned together as a player-led team to try and win a national title? this team was on the very short list of national title favorites when beard got himself canned. RT "leading" this team to the Sweet 16 is not the achievement you seem to think it is, both in terms of actual success as well as how much of it is due to Rodney Terry's coaching and leadership.
Would you have this same take in evaluating Beard's performance if he was still the coach? Would Beard be on your hot seat if we didn't win a championship this year? Terry can only play the hand he is dealt, I don't understand handicapping his performance this far into the future. We haven't been to the Sweet 16 in almost two decades, what school would get rid of their coach for achieving that feat?

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls

The LSU guys put in their picks in at 60% which is equal to or less than all the UT picks that have been logged for Simmons. They are all guessing. Also I could give a fuck less what that nimrod Nahlin does or says. Assessing the overall picture the data points I care to look at looks a bit more positive for the good guys. Funniest think to me is this looks more likely to go our way than the Gipson recruit yet this board was a lot more positive about that one until Fong dropped his pick.
