Will do. It’s a blast. And incredibly manageable and comfy when I don’t feel like taking her WOT.

Debadged the whole thing. I get some funny looks from folks that think it’s just a JGC.

Are you in Austin? I've seen a debadged  Trackhawk around S. Lamar/Barton Springs area a few times.

Not really interested in a Cayman.  If I went P-car, it would be a 911 no doubt.  And if I went 997, it would be a .2 for sure due to the DI engine and other upgrades.

The E46 is intriguing, but I've never driven one.  Honestly never been a big Bimmer fan in general but the Leguna Seca Blue E46 will always do something for me.  I haven't driven a stick since probably high school and just miss rowing gears, and the M3 seems like a fun, easy to drive car that I could take out on the weekends.  I could just save my money and wait for the right 911/NSX/Supra, but I live my life one irrational decision at a time, so why not M3?

Am I wrong, or is an e46 M3 way under $40k? I agree, they look great and could be a future classic, but I think I'd enjoy the wail of the V8 in the e9x.

Can you find a C7 or C6 Z06 for around $40k? Or get a little crazy and get an LSx RX-7? Damn so many interesting choices for cars if you don't have to daily!

    Good luck in your search.

For the past year or so, I've been trying to find a toy for under $40K.  This all started when I found someone selling a '97 Supra TT M6 on base for $35K.  I missed out on it but it got the wheels in motion.  Since, I've been trying to find a Supra, NSX, or 997 for under $40K but that's pretty much impossible right now unless you want high mileage.  At my price point, I think I've talked myself into a E46 M3.  Can someone talk me out of this?  I have zero Bimmer experience, but my dad owned an early 00s 7-series and it was a piece of shit.  It would have to be Leguna Seca Blue.

What about a 981 Boxster or a Gen 2 or 3 Viper? Several other options in that range including Cobra or 550 Spyder replicas. Your options above are solid, but lots of interesting ideas for a weekend car where practicality isn't a primary concern for $40k.

  4. My younger brother and his wife are 7 months into a two year mission trip in Congo. My brother has a PhD in physics and is teaching math and science at a Congo university. I’m still pissed he went over there. My parents and I pleaded with him not to go, but it didn’t work. I just hope they make it back here without incident. Reading this shit doesn’t help.

Posted this in travel forum but figured I'd try here.

The wife and I are doing Scottsdale for our anniversary and she has given me 2 full days of golf.  I'm 100% sold on Troon North but am curious to know if there are any hidden gems I should check out?

Looking at maybe a round at TPC just because that's a fucking fun tournament to watch.

I liked WeKoPa Saguaro better than the Troon course I played on my bachelor party. Troon was great though. So many quality courses in the area and many have two courses. Quintero, Greyhawk, Boulders, Troon, WeKoPa, TPC all have good reviews. Have a great time!

  6. Shot a personal best 80 today at BC Crenshaw. I knew I was playing well and the thought of 70s started creeping in my head down the stretch. I tried to put it out of my mind but I three putt bogey 14, put one OB off the tee on 15 ending in a double, and put another OB off the tee on 16 but pull out bogey (should have let me 2nd guy go first). I had birdie putts on 17 and 18 but couldn’t convert. Hopefully I can get over the hump and break 80 this year.

  7. A great (relatively) new restaurant on the west side of the island is Star Noodle.  It's outstanding.

Also, get you some spam musabe at Da Kitchen.

We picked up dinner from Star Noodle one night and took it back to our room. It was excellent. The place is small and the wait was insane considering it was mid week.

  8. I went to Maui with my wife and parents in December. It was my first time. We stayed at the Hyatt Residences which was top notch. The concierge was very helpful with reservations and planning.

Paia Fish Market in Lahaina was a great casual spot.

Mama's Fish House is totally worth the price. I agree with others that it's the best place to splurge. Merriman's was also very solid, but I'd go with Mama's if I had to choose between the two.

The Road to Hana is cool and it's a full day. We used the app tour guide which was clutch. I loved the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park. We went all the way to the Seven Sacred Pools. In hindsight, I would have headed back after Hamoa Beach. Thank God our Expedition got a flat the first day we were there. They gave us an Explorer which was tight on the Road to Hana but an Expedition would have been terrible.

We did a whale watching tour with open bar (solid). We also did the helicopter tour of Molokai the same day we flew out. I HIGHLY recommend that.

Other than that we went with the flow mostly. The beach right outside your hotel is great so don't forget to reserve a day or two for vegging out. My wife and I are big golfers so our favorite days were playing Kapalua Plantation and Wailea Emerald courses.

Have fun! I enjoyed Hawaii even more than I thought I would.
