    Eberle making hat trick history

Loved it - was there (too far to get a hat onto the ice though). Thanks for posting. The Squid aren't great, but they are entertaining to watch.

Is there a map? I promise you there is, but how the consumer could find it is beyond me.

Think you can search by zip code on NHL site for what local market (if any) you're in. I assume Austin is in the Dallas market, but maybe not.

Brother in southern Oregon and buddy in Spokane are both in Kraken market even though 300 miles away. We were in no market last year so all games were out of market and streamable.

  3. That is definitely sick! Nice photos. They are taking forever to get the pre-ordered ones to season ticket holders - they're the dark blue ones with Inaugural Season patch - but I might like the white one just as much.

Was up at the Iceplex today (3 rink training facility open to the public as well) - team wasn't there as there's a game tonight but lots of kids skating. Really nice facility.

Well since he is Brazilian, he actually said  “adeus bebê“

That cracked me up. Good work!

Brazilian Portuguese = "tchau," same pronunciation as "ciao." "Adeus" is not quite as common; it has more of a formal "farewell" connotation.

Of course, being a Brazilian of Italian descent, Fittipaldi could have gone with either "tchau" or "ciao" and PittsburghTiger would have heard the same thing. Except "chow." Definitely not "chow." 😂😉

Josh was noncommittal as shit about everyone else on the presser today, too. I’m more worried about Pereira/Gallagher than Djitte at this point.

Luckily, Seattle has 12 healthy, eligible senior players. They’re worse off than we are on that front. Added some USL guys on an emergency basis just to field a squad.

One of those USL guys is 15.

5 preseason starters have missed substantial time for the Sounders this season, plus international callups. They haven't had a full roster in any match this season. I like Austin in this one. Really like your new house and hope to come down for a match someday. Great looking atmosphere.

I've never really followed hockey but I want to get into the sport and learn about it. After doing research on teams and etc I think I will pledge my fandom to the Seattle Kraken. Since they are a new team and I am a new fan it just makes sense.

Welcome aboard! Can't wait to walk in the doors on Opening Night - it's been a long wait. 🦑

    Fernet is awful!

Most Argentines are introduced to it via their Italian grandfather (as the tales go) when they had an upset stomach and were given a shot of Fernet to help with digestion. (Considering the typical Argentine diet, digestive issues are not a surprise.)

I used to say that Fernet tasted like Motor Oil, but someone else had a better description:

If you have ever absent-mindedly chewed on the end of a Bic ballpoint pen and the ink started to flow and end up in your mouth? Then you know what Fernet tastes like. Mixing it with Coca-Cola (which also used to be done with really low end red wine) makes it tolerable. It is a digestive from Italy, but so much is consumed in Argentina (about 80% of all Fernet consumed around the world) that the Fernet Branca sold in Argentina is distilled in Argentina.

Gawd that shit is turrible. A huge part of traveling for me is the culture of the places I visit, and food/drink being a big part of culture, I'm usually diving in to whatever the locals enjoy.

I really liked Argentina and would love to return... but I tried that shit and was damn! What the hell are you thinking? and it was back to the malbecs for me. One of the worst "national" drinks I've ever had that didn't have sneks in the bottle.

Depending on how your Spanish vocabulary is, it is very likely you know more than 10 words in Portuguese. You might not have the right pronunciation though.

Mais devagar, por favor - ainda estou aprendendo português. (Pelo menos é português brasileiro; nunca entendo os portugueses, nem um pouquinho.)

Obrigado pela gíria, Patrício é Hefe!

(My Spanish is nonexistent so I decided to suck at another language as well during lockdown. I knew I could count on Surly for some useful tips....)

USA Today tasked sports writers who cover softball to predict the Regionals.    Click on link if you are interested in other Regionals.

Interesting that the writers are from the SEC and Oklahoma.    No doubt,  Mike White will have to do his best to focus the team to prevent the distraction of playing Oregon.  Especially a challenge for Rhodes, Burke, and Iakopo.

Overall,  I think we have more experience than Oregon, especially coaching.   Oregon Coach Lombardi is no stranger to McCombs after being here many times as an OU   pitching coach.    But alot more pressure when you are the head coach in your first postseason appearance with not many players that have played in the postseason.     If Shea continues to pitch well,  defense is solid, and Rhodes breaks her slump, the Cinderalla story for Oregon and those that favor them will end.

    Austin Regional

Ryan Aber, The Oklahoman: Texas – The regional with the most intrigue, but Oregon has struggled against top competition while the Longhorns are 39-4 against teams other than Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Will Backus, Knoxville News Sentinel: Oregon – The Ducks were at least competitive with the Pac-12's top teams, taking at least a game against the likes of UCLA, Arizona and Arizona State.

Eric Blum, Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune: Texas – A near coin-flip decision between the Longhorns and Oregon. Even with two good mid-majors to complete this regional, Texas has been too good throughout the year not to pick.

Tommy Deas, SEC cross-team leader: Oregon – The Ducks get to end the season for their former coach, Mike White, on Texas' home field. And don't call it an upset.

Aria Gerson, The Tennessean: Texas – Oregon will be a tough matchup here, but ultimately the Ducks struggled against the Pac-12’s top teams, which gives the Longhorns the advantage.

Brett Greenberg, The Tuscaloosa News: Oregon – This was a pick-em between the Ducks and the Longhorns. I'm taking Oregon in two games to advance.

Graham Hays, guest expert: Oregon – If Oregon's Brooke Yanez beat UCLA twice this season, she can beat the Longhorns twice in Austin.

Scott Wright, The Oklahoman: Oregon – The most intriguing regional field in the tournament and the Ducks pull the upset over their former coach.

    Fuck Oregon. Hook 'em. 🤘

Haha congrats, man. Great season for y'all and a nice NYD+1 victory.

Pac-12 really had no business in these bowl games.

Possibly not, but 3 of the top 4 teams in the conference were out, which didn't help the matchups any. Oregon was by no means the best team in the conference (although I think ISU probably beats UW or Utah, both those teams have much better defenses than Oregon).

We have it in Austin too. But that’s a bit far to drive for some hooch! Ha!

Yeah, that's like 1700 miles away. But hey, I'm good for it. I'll pick it up later.

(Actually bought a bottle of that exact hooch and some Weller Special Reserve for my BIL in London for Christmas - I hate the prices over there but he's a great guy and loves bourbon, plus he keeps my sister on the other side of the pond.) 😂

  12. In.

And belatedly want to thank all you guys who add to my knowledge of the sport - I've been fairly casually following it for +/- 20 years (still kind of like to get up at the crack of hell West Coast time to watch the races live) - but I've learned a ton from reading you surly bastards and the info you've posted both here and at TOS.

Cheers to the lot of you - and hopes for normal racing in 2021 (although I'd really liked to have seen Portimão back on the calendar).
