So, they weren't willing to tangle with ships from Israel, Turkey/Georgia, or Greece, even though they threatened those ships.
But they would fire on a Palau-flagged ship, forcing it to allow them to inspect it.
But the interesting thing is that they allowed it to continue to Ukraine, even thought they've claimed the grain deal is off.
On some level, they know things get dicey if they start sinking or impounding third-party ships in large numbers. But the Russian dumbshits could be setting themselves up for another sinking if they keep this up - Ukraine could follow these ships to see if they get boarded or run a decoy and then run a USV or whatever into the Bykov ship.
It's got a crew of 80, so it's not a small little patrol boat like we think:
I'll point out here that Palau is under a Compact of Free Association with the United States, under which the US is responsible for all Palauan international defense issues (although we are not allowed to declare war on their behalf). That could be a interesting twist.
(For those of you who are history buffs - okay, all of you - one of the Palauan islands is Peleliu, which any Marine will know.)

Much as I enjoy seeing it, UW is too high. The schedule is a beating with @USC, Oregon, Utah, @Oregon State, along with an OOC jaunt to Michigan State and opening the season hosting Boise State.
(That said, as a season ticket holder I like a schedule with Boise State, Utah, Oregon, and the Apple Cup in Husky Stadium.)
So far DeBoer looks to have what it takes as a head coach, but it's only his 2nd season as a HC at this level, so we'll see. Still looking forward to it!

Hate to say it, but Portugal deserved better. Glad we advanced, but having residency in Portugal too I'm a bit disappointed they couldn't have gone through as well. They played solid in all three matches.
Hope there are some changes going into the knockouts or Sweden is going to feast on this team.

If you want to still go out there I got a few Brit, SA, and Dutch friends working there. Crazy cats, but fun.
Priggy me chupa los huevos!
Hoping to get down there again in the next year or so - sounds like my kind of people.
As always, this thread delivers. Hope to meet a lot of you in Kyiv one day soon, helping to clean up huylo Putin's mess.

so all ya gotta say is Vase Foder!
We got a team up in Bemba. Dudes don't move at all without coordination with the Rwandans.
Lol! Vá se foder indeed, Wagner shits.
Pemba? Oh hell no. I've wanted to visit Ilha de Moçambique forever but shit was going down in the Nampula area as well, so that was right out.
And Priggy? Vai tomar no cu, filho da puta.

My buddies working there run with some pretty serious security. DON'T go!
Yeah, I have a bit of a soft spot for Moçambique (despite my Portuguese being not much more than passable), but no way I'd go north. Drove around the mountains of Lesotho, no worries. Fuck around north of Beira? Not finding out.
(Frankly, per an earlier comment, the West should give a damn about Mali, the CAR, the rest of Africa, and to a large extent Latin America, because not doing so just leaves it for China/Russia - who aren't necessarily popular - a Zambian friend told me they sure as hell knew what colonialism looked like a decade ago when the Chinese were buying up most of the mines in the Copper Belt - but sure as hell are throwing their weight around.)

That's why we hired DeBoer. Hell yeah
Having a coach named DeBoer seems to be a good thing.

Fun season for the Squid. 🦑 You guys have a hell of a team - probably the most balanced left. Congrats and good luck!

Heh. Photo caption on the Guardian live blog right now says "Supporters of outgoing Turkish president Erdoğan..."
So let it be written, so let it be done.

Looking forward to it, @Longboard Horn. I just hope it's a good series. I'm a big Pavs fan and hope he's back soon, even though he had our number this season.
I don't like Pavs any more.

For those wondering, game 3 in Seattle will almost certainly be Sunday as there's a concert at CPA Saturday. There's also a scheduled event next Tuesday but that one may be movable so I'd still think game 4 will be a week from tonight.

It's all gravy. Looking forward to it. I like a lot of the Stars boys, just not this next week.

Holy Squid shit! Cannot believe this. Thought we might get one in the series. We don't match up well at all with the Stars, who are as good as anyone in the West - but I'm going to game 3 in the second round! Unbelievable. Go Squid! 🦑

There is zero chance he thought that. The puck was nowhere in sight, and McCann was standing straight up, cruising into the corner after the puck had obviously gone out of play. He wasn't in a posture even remotley looking like he was skating after anything. The play was over. Everyone knew it, unless you think Makar is a regard.
The play was literally right in front of me, and even in real time this was what appeared to happen. I neither dislike the Avs nor Makar (except this week), but the puck went straight up, cleared the high netting, and was being caught by a fan when Makar hit McCann (who had clearly slowed). Makar was behind the play so how he could've missed where the puck went is beyond me. Georgiev wasn't even scrambling to find it.

That is waaay up high on the list of most fun I've ever had.
Completely exhausted and completely wired.
My seats are to the left of where you were, and higher (there's not a bad seat in the place; I've been about as far up in the corner as you can get and the seats were still great). That was by far the best crowd I've seen in the Squids' very short history. Saturday was a fun crowd but you got the impression half of 'em had never been to a hockey game and just wanted to see history. Tonight's crowd knew hockey.
