Anwar originally threw out the name Coleman Hutzler.

I hear it's close but not quite done yet. Cold be done any minute, though.

Texas isn't exactly throwing out big money for assistants so keep that in mind. While Herman isn't on the most secure seat, Muschamp nearly got fired this season.

Hutzler would check the LB and ST box. I don't know much about him but some good defensive minds have signed off on him.

I read that with the sound of heavy heavy breathing

Did Alfred Collins commit? I sure as shit ain't counting that egg as a chicken. Dude seems to be looking for a reason to commit anywhere other than Texas. And we seem to want to give him that reason with this chucklefuck of a coaching search.

If Herman gets Okam, will that be enough?  IMO Collins is coming here, regardless

It is also why the SEC has the right marketing plan.  They have built their image as the best conference and it matters.  The Big 12 and Texas / OU can learn something from that.

I think that the Big 12 just makes the most sense for Texas long term.  If that is the case, we need to improve (obviously) but we also need to help push the Big 12 brand (minus Baylor).

Texas just has to win.. Big 12 was a joke after Bob kept getting his ass handed to him during BCS championships.. Big 12 got a bump when Texas finally got it's shit together and ran the table in 2004 (after the RRS) and the whole damn thing in 2005..

“If we were to play a more competitive schedule at home, that would cause me to want to go,” Swoops continues. “There’s nothing better than going to see a good game in person.”

This Ohio State kid gets it.  Good matchups are worth seeing, and 70-80% of college games are dogshit matchups for the best teams.  So no one cares.  And $20 may seem like pennies to these schools, but that is a lot of cash to college kids, especially to watch a 50 point blow out against some "who cares" opponent.

I'm all for consolidation.  Get rid of the bottom half and let them play their own national championship.  Minimize the cupcake games to no more than 2 per team and interest and attendence will go back up.

How many weekends in a season can you look at the whole lineup and say "who cares"?  Definitely more than you should.  The cross sectional LSU / Texas games are very rare but they draw a ton of interest.

That's why I feel Big 12 should stay as is minus fucking Baylor of course.

Does anyone else get the feeling CTJ doesn’t like Tom Herman?

I'm not quite ready to go out on a limb and say Yes...However he gives me some vibes like he doesn't.. Feels like they were friends who turned enemies, foot racing does that to people.

man, when I went back home to see my dad, my old HSs football team was at the movie we went to see for “family day”

when I was there you took your parents and maybe a girl you wanted to show off, now it’s all new borns, 16 yo baby mommas and 40 yo grandmothers who get to raise another generation

This has been going on for generations in East Austin lol.. it ain't that serious

i dont really care. im just excited we got both of them and we will better off because of it regardless of who wins. If JQJ can beat out Hudson, that means he is a stud QB who should lead us to a national title. Same going the other way.  And to think Milroe comes in after these guys!  QB room looks good moving forward.

I'm already on the '22 Ewers bandwagon

Got damn. You're all overthinking the hell out of this. The smartest thing here is to leave the Big XII and Pac-12 conferences alone (Big XII to add two teams if desired) and form a media partnership with guaranteed cross-conference OOC games. Football only - there is no reason to mess with any other sport. UW cross-country doesn't need to travel to Lubbock nor does Texas VB need to travel to Corvallis.

All this stuff about "move UA and CU to the Big XII" ignores the fact that the two most successful football programs both financially and in terms of fan support outside of LA are UW and UO.

Stop overthinking this. Keep the regional conferences and work together. Take that to Disney or Apple or Amazon and see what they throw at it.

OOC games?  LIke we should be thrilled about the prospects of playing oregon st, wazzu, utah, Cal, AZ?  Texas would be just better at scheduling SC, Oregon, UCLA in the future without a media agreement.

Big 12 should stay as is, unless they can poach a school which makes sense reasonably (and boot out Baylor). Don't want to go to the Rust Belt or the SEC West..

They do have a few that are just falling into their lap this year, with legacies and small town guys.  Isn’t Fatheree kind of a good thing, takes up a spot and UT isn’t interested iirc?    Sort of surprising that Grimes has given them as much time as he has.

Fathertree would be a take for us, he did really well at the camps last spring.. but like someone mentioned earlier..this is a sick class along the OL

i think depth is a concern. blades is good if he can get his shoulder right. the coaches love brian george, although the juco leap is always scary. myles jones isn't the worst 3rd corner to have, and devin morris was coming on at nickel late in the year.

really need jaylon jones to live up to the hype.

    Hype of a CB?

Is there really a debate that UT and A&M have different offensive schemes under Herman and Jimbo respectively?

It seems clear that Jimbo's possession style O will showcase more RBs and TEs and fewer WRs. Guys like Ausbon will do well enough to also get into NFL. There's just one data point (last year's draft) with Jimbo at A&M, and already got a TE and a FB (of all positions!) into the NFL.

I looked up Collin Johnson's season stats; he has has one season in 4 where he got close to 1000 yards. Statistically he had a better college career than Kendrick Rogers did, but not by a whole bunch.

    https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4039043/collin-johnson

    https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4035255/kendrick-rogers

Rogers was also a 3-star no-name recruit out of high school in Frankston, TX (rated 78th best WR); while Johnson was more heralded 4-star out of Cali (41st best WR).

    https://247sports.com/Player/Collin-Johnson-43002/high-school-71486/

Herman's system will likely feature more WRs and so more of them will likely get drafted, even though it would appear that Johnson didn't achieve all that he could-- or perhaps the 4 and 5-wide sets means multiple good WRs will get the ball and not one or two dudes who get to shine.

IIRC CJ was a 4 star but had no buzz outside being a legacy because (surprise) he was hurt his Senior season and did not play.

OU is going to blow this conference up. Football and all that goes with it is their main priority.

What that will mean for us I’m not sure. However, I’m fairly certain it’s going to be a shitshow. This program is marred by regional factions that simply don’t get along. The only real hope is that we have an AD that starts to lay multi year groundwork that gets most of the squabbling out of the way, but frankly I’m not convinced CDC is that guy like everyone else who is gargling his balls.

Texas will be alright no matter what.. Wonder if a guy like John Skipper would throw a hail mary and offer Texas a NBC like deal to go independent on DAZN.

This.  OL don't get snaps unless starters get hurt.   We're upset because we are going to have an experienced and veteran line in 2020 that is going to allow us to keep our 1st and 2nd year guys on the bench and in the weight room for another year before throwing them out in a game?   Isn't that a good thing?

We've recruited well on the OL the last few years and have been able to RS guys.  Where needed we've been able to plug in GT's to start and JUCO's for depth.

Angilau, Johnson, Moore, Hookfin, Jones should all be ready to sink/swim in 2021.  Then you'll have RS freshmen like Majors, Garth, Parr, and Karic - and an incredibly talented freshman class that could have an immediate starter like Tommy B.

That and the line will benefit with having a runner like Bijan make them look better... Also Card with his quick release or even Jackson with his legs can probably help out the line as well.

Bryan Carrington just started following a Michigan C who has left school to prepare for the draft.  Seems an odd follow - but as long as he hasn't hired an agent I guess he's still fair game?

    https://247sports.com/Player/Cesar-Ruiz-77232/

Ruiz was a two year starter at C and started 5 games as a freshman at G.

Just in case his projection warrants another season in college.. Good to see BC covering all angles.

People keep bringing up grades but I don't think that's why Georgia let Evans out his LOI. Georgia took a huge risk last  year with Pickens because of grades.  There's more to this story.

Based on Evans history, I bet he had another fuck up with the North Shore coaching staff or did something stupid off the field. The Georgia "reporters" were saying several months ago that the Georgia staff was monitoring Evans and that one more screw up was his last chance. Sounds to me like Evans signed and then screwed up again.

Wonder if the Jawja Mods have an end of the cycle behind the scenes write up the way Higdon and EJ did.  Be interested in reading how much more of a roller coaster that recruitment was behind the curtain.

CTJ will tell you it’s all bullshit and he’s just playing the fan base. He just wants another article for his social media so what ever Mike Craven said is fake news. Forget that he didn’t want to play in a 3 man front. Forget that he prefers the 4 man front. Forget that Landon Jackson felt the same way and so did Collins and Princely. Forget that we had zero pass rush in 2019 until we moved the ends out of the 3i and changed to a 4 man front and put Ossai up near the line. That’s all CNN.....Fake news. Forget that he’s coming to visit this month to meet with Chris Ash. Forget that his best friend is committed to Texas. Forget it all. It’s all a 16 year old who’s trying to play games. 🙄

Yeah but toons favorite at the moment, Bama runs a Three man front too
