For the life of me, I’ll never understand the consternation over rankings. Feels like we used to ridicule aggy for this behavior during the Fran era.

Sure, Rivals has an agenda and a sketchy approach to ranking kids. Why give them any attention about it at this point.

In summary, get off my lawn.

Thanks for sharing that with us in a recruiting thread

to be fair, baylor is adding more value (as an athletic program) than Texas this fiscal year as well

    let that shit sink in

played for Big 12 Title in football

ranked 1/2 in both men's and women's basketball

    #1 Big 12 in volleyball

    ...and nobody gives a fuck

Noticed that as well. Seems we've been offering more of them/pursuing them recently, which supports CTJ's suggestion that the Brocks are leaning elsewhere and the staff is aware of it.

same thing i was thinking seeing that offer

You guys are monuments to patience, so I knew you would enjoy this tweet.

So are we needing a rainmaking witch for the DT position coach?  Giles can coach both positions by default, right?  He just needs a version of BC with him to grab the kids attention?

Caught up with a friend of mine involved with recruiting and has seen a lot of the 2021 first hand already.

Depressing shit as it pertains to the Brocks. I can't really go further but I came away glad that whoever was whining about them on this thread didn't bet me on where they'd sign.

The Wykoff guy is a good take as a swing guy.

Still likes Byrd a ton at OT and thinks Texas gets him.

They really like the Cooks kid and were on him early.

The overly bulked up guy at Duncanville with the torn ACL is overrated.

Landon Jackson is a good high quality player, top 150 type, but think the services are overrating him a bit.

Thinks Wheaton is overrated for reasons off the field, which is becoming a bigger deal to more schools. It's going to be a headache recruitment. Alternatively, he likes LJ Johnson just fine as a highly talented RB1 take.

Jackson and Burris might both actually be leaning Texas a little right now.

Montgomery is a good take by OU.

Texas will sign a full class or really close to it.

Lincoln Riley thinks next season will be his best team and says they're winning the title.

Brewster to ATM thing was salary pumping. Herman showed no interest, for whatever that's worth.

The Denton Ryan commits are fucking studs.

They're still trying to figure a lot of shit out about 2021 and are doing a lot of hustling in that regard now. The new offensive approach from Yurcich means there are some open questions on direction for player type at the WR position.

Valai suspicions confirmed. We'll see how it rolls out.

I'll post 2020 stuff on the other thread.

I know what you are hearing but..I still think both Brocks will come around and come here at the end of the fucking day..  We deserve nice things too

After watching the tape, the Dunson guy didn't have the requisite wheels for them to be excited.

They're stupidly late but all in on Rakestraw. If Bama wants him, he's probably theirs. Texas has the best shot otherwise.

Savion Williams is visiting TCU this weekend, but Texas wants him ... now. Hoping to get him in.

High confidence in where things stand with Umanlymanlymaniaman and Collins.

    Should get Dixon.

They want/need 2 more WRs in this class.

Nobody has a strong grip on where Bradford's head is. Texas would take him.

Javonne Shepherd was begging to rejoin the team after figuring out there was low interest in the market outside of ATM. Hard to let him back in after firing the ol'double aught 0.0 though.

I'll tell the Evans story on the non-UT 2020 thread. Let me know if there's a name you're curious about. I don't take notes, so I might remember something otherwise.

again, thanks for sharing all this info.. really appreciate it.

To me, it is the least important position coach. We already have Giles who can coach both positions if necessary and Collins looks like he is ready to join the class with or without the additional hire. OTOH, our linebackers sucked and our linebacker recruiting continues to suck. So, that is where we needed the most help. DE coach is almost a luxury pic (except for the fact that Giles needs help on the recruiting trail and DE technique needs to change with the Ash defense).

Well they have one solid 2021 LB commit and by the looks of Cooks photos on twitter, seems like the staff has made a good impression on him as well.  Interested in seeing Ash and the new LB coach take on the many bodies we have right now in the spring

A grad transfer would still eat a counter in 2021 in some form, because it would eat a 2020 counter that they could otherwise count backwards 2021 to 2020 for. I thought Crownover made sense when I assumed he'd enroll this week, but now that it appears they're taking Hubbard and probably making Crownover wait, I don't see how this makes sense

With transfers, and players who sign but don't make it to campus counting against the 25, I think going forward an underrated (for now) aspect of roster management is managing attrition, since the only way to replace lost scholarships once you go past ~100 in 4 years is through walkons who get promoted to scholarship after two years, and that takes time, and typically they aren't adequate replacements. This means cleaner prospects should be more valuable than they were before, while riskier prospects should be taken more rarely than before.

Can't Jimbo just scour for a decent PWO at RB?  Herman did that last cycle.

I am aware of Horns247 Mike Roach update, on Alfred Collins, where he stated Collins is saying he won’t be taking an unofficial to OU or Bama before deciding in February.

If Roach reported it I 100% buy it because he is one of the best in the business. I will, however, do my due diligence on this over the next few days.

Roach told me —on my 105.3 CBSSPORTS Radio Show in OKC last week — that he won’t write it off and say 100% Texas until the in-homes are done. The Sooners have two more to go and Riley will get one of those.

That said, if it was to end today I would pick Texas (already CB’d them a while back) because of location and the fact he is a legacy with his mother having played basketball there.

As far as why he took an unofficial to Texas? Obviously, one reason is because he wanted to do so, but the other was so he could see things in person with Texas having changed almost all of the defensive, including new DC Chris Ash. The visit just makes sense.

I’ll look into it over the days to come and update on what I can find out. Just wanted to you all to have some clarity on why Texas visit makes sense and why getting to other visits isn’t necessarily the end all for OU or Bama.

One last thing on Collins... I’m told Texas feels as confident as ever so OU has a ton of work to do here.

Deandre Butler is a key piece in all of this, as well, with him having 4 years to play 3 years out of JUCO ranks. Two big-time DL for OU to try and close out on in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Will have more on his visit later this afternoon/evening, hopefully, as I’m slated to speak with him once the official visit has finished.

Stay tuned for that and junior day updates throughout next 24-72 hours

This is soo rich man...  Just a short few months ago he was on the RJ Young youtube show and they were ripping bong hits to the prospects of Collins, and Princely joining ou.  Texas was a dumpster fire and they were going to get everyone while Texas would have to settle for leftovers (they got this from Zach not putting Texas in the top 5).  They did get Eaton and Washington so they can still spin that it was a wash going head to head this cycle..

Apologies in advance for posting an actual football question, but to me Collins and Umanlyman and Broughton all seem like ideal 3-4 DEs because of their size and maybe not the best DEs in a 4 man front. They are all obviously takes and Collins and Broughton are athletic enough that it probably doesn't make a difference but I wonder if Ash's new scheme means we recruit differently going forward.

Princely will grow into a DT, Collins can play at DE, as can VB..  On third and passing situations they can spin inside imo

I’m not sure exactly how the Buckner rumor got started, but yes, he would be an incredible hire. Not sure why a lifetime NFL guy would suddenly be interested in a college job, so I think there’s about a zero percent chance he’s coming. Would love to be wrong.

Sometimes Coaches like to take a break and mold young kids.. before heading back to the grind of the NFL?
