  1. I feel like this is the low point and everything is about to get a whole lot better.
  2. I never heard that. He's on his official visit and we're swinging for the fences right now. Must be thinking of someone else.
  3. I love how according to this narrative Texas is focused on dominating in state, whereas for those of us actually following Texas recruiting, we know we're bringing in more out of state players than we ever have.
  4. That sucks. You're probably right, but I like my reading better. It's the Directors Cup Updates, for goodness sakes. Not the T&F update twitter feed.
  5. USC may be favorite for 2nd now. I like the sound of that.
  6. I know it's the angle, but the bed looks 3 feet long.
  7. I will shit a Tommie Harris sized helmet if we get Lamar Brown.
  8. 6'10, 195 lbs. Shouldn't he be from east Africa?
  9. "4 more years! 4 more years! 4 more years." Meanwhile, on the other side of the Cotton Bowl... "Grad-u-ate. Grad-u-ate. Grad-u-ate!"
  10. That would shock me less than going back and telling my past self how much in favor of it I would be. I had people around me campaigning to join the SEC long before A&M did. I loathed the idea at the time. I mean, I still don't like it, but I understand it was absolutely the best decision.
  11. There are three primary ways the House settlement is being challenged. One is antitrust. The other is Title IX. The third is athlete employment status. All three are extremely sticky, with no clear resolution. There is potential relief from federal legislation or some kind of executive order, but it's unclear what form it would take. There's a decent chance it would make the whole thing worse in some ways. And certainly it would be challenged in court as well. And that's assuming something gets passed, which I have serious doubts about. Not to mention the settlement agreement is going to be challenged by athletic programs and their boosters as well, in a pursuit to find workarounds to field better teams.
  12. The article you're citing doesn't make as clear cut a case as you seem to be. The person most responsible for its implementation was a German officer critical of naziism. The Fuhrer stopped the program in 1939 after the invasion of Poland, ultimately preferring to massacre Jews in concentration camps rather than send them to Palestine. The German Jews who were sent off to Palestine likely escaped a fate in the concentration camps, whether that was permanent incarceration or death. It appears according to the source you're citing that the Nazi support of the creation of a Jewish state was lukewarm at best, advocated by opportunists among German Jewish Zionists and anti Nazi German officials.
  13. Jews who do not support the state of Israel are often accused of self loathing and self hate by members of their own community. I'm not attempting to repeat neonazi propaganda efforts. I don't have to. I'm repeating messages propagated within the community itself.
  14. It's a message board. If American Jews feel politically homeless, let's compare them to Muslims. Especially Muslims sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. There are a lot of people who feel politically homeless. It's an important point to make, regardless of Chuckie's awareness of it.
  15. There are a lot of people who feel politically homeless right now. It's not specific to American Jews. There's a lot of litmus testing going on.
  16. That's not helpful. If you have a point, please say it. If you don't want to post it, feel free to message me.
  17. All of the Jews I personally know are highly supportive of the state of Israel, while not necessarily being supportive of the current government. I would argue the opposite. To indicate an opposition to the state of Israel is conflated with antisemitism. My observation has been this is a tool used to try to suppress criticism of the state of Israel.
  18. I have no familiarity with NAACP other than what I've read. I do not think of the NAACP as influential or persuasive as AIPAC. It's my opinion AIPAC historically is one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the United States, at least post WWII.
  19. All I can tell you is that all the wealthy Jews I am friends with are heavily pro Israel, donate heavily to both parties. When I have attended AIPAC functions in Houston I am often one of the few goyim there. If you say that money is coming from Republican megadonors then so be it. That's just not my personal experience.
  20. So you see AIPAC money as being non Jewish money? BTW, there is plenty of Jewish money donated to political causes outside of AIPAC. Not all of it is single agenda donations revolving around Israel, but a lot of it is.
  21. Hiding immigrants in their home and encouraging Latino teen daughters to write diaries?
  22. Pro-Israel groups spent big to oust two Squad members in primaries - ABC News
  23. Maybe it is. But the truth is Muslims in Michigan didn't have a good choice between either party, both of whom are dominated by Jewish money to one degree or another. That said, while there wasn't a good choice, there was a clear choice, and they chose poorly in a way that was not good for their community. Bottom line though is that it's tough sledding getting a pro Palestinian president elected in this country regardless. The best that can be hoped for is less of a hardliner in terms of being pro-Israel.
  24. This isn't really about the Director's Cup, as much as it is another comparison of baseball and volleyball. I always hoped volleyball would somehow magically put it together in the postseason and then steamroll through the Final Four the way they did the year before. Obviously, it never happened. I always thought the baseball team was put together with chewing gum and bailing wire to some degree. Just a clutch team that seemed to do what it took all season long, with heroics from everyone up and down the lineup. But I never thought of us as a potential juggernaut, particularly after we lost our one true stud starting pitcher. The volleyball team had the talent. Just something was off all season long. Didn't even win the conference, which I thought was practically a given, while the baseball team did, in a sport the SEC has been better at than volleyball traditionally (nothing against Kentucky, who has absolutely been a great program, along with Florida). Skinner for one, IMO, should have been the best player in the country by far, and she simply wasn't able to attain that level for a variety of reasons. In any case, it's not over either way, but I am nervous about our track and field performances. To carry the metaphor further, I feel like we have a huge lead in the 4X100 with the baton handed off to our anchor, but USC has the equivalent of Johnny Lam Jones on their side.
