No Williams, no Catalon, our pets heads are falling off. Fortunately, safety play isn't going to be important against *checks notes* a deep ball offense with 3 NFL receivers...

What is nice is that Washington isn't like an air raid attack that gets the ball all quickly in space. Those sorts of game plans have hurt us quite a bit. While we don't play the deep ball particularly well on the backend, our line generally does a good job of making it hard for an offense to consistently rely on routes that require that much time.

Need to get Mukuba from portal and rush his enrollment

Texas is a great team. My confidence is more rooted in watching what UW’s done since DeBoer got here. This team reminds us all of the Marques Tuiasosopo 2000 team of destiny that beat Miami (best team ever?) and won the rose bowl for their paralyzed brother Curtis Williams. They’re so locked in it’s crazy.

UW is pretty similar to last year but has a much better secondary (added CB Jabbar Muhammad), mainly due to familiarity with the system in year 2. Our safeties look like completely different guys from last year.

RB Dillon Johnson (Mississippi State) is a complete back and a big upgrade from last year.

UW could absolutely lose this game but I would never bet against them. They’ve so been through the fire.

Coach K is the other god and the best decision sark ever made. He was beyond loyal to coach Petersen and sark came in at the right time (when Jimmy douchebag Lake was HC) to snatch him away. No coach K and where would Texas be??

That being said, we got 3 NFL receivers, a veteran stud qb, an OL full of NFL talent and a healthy defense that had to win many games to keep us undefeated when health was a major issue. Everybody’s healthy now.

I do pull for Texas and sark most of the time. Happy he’s turned it around. Happy for Choate. I’ll be in New Orleans and it should be fun.

WR talent in the this game is crazy. IF you included Sanders (TE), there are 6 NFL pass catchers out there. I think this game comes down to wo can disrupt the passer. Texas is vastly improved on offense from last year. Adding AD Mitchell has been a game changer and Quinn is in his second year as a starter. Should be a good game.

Just telling you what to expect. The guy melted down when we ended his SC career. He wore a carpetbagger hat and berated a field attendant last year. It’s going down again. DeBoer is DeGod👌👌Started sweating and squatting Steve😎

You are one narcissistic  SOB. I think Jack Daniels ended his USC career. This "we ended" shit is just stupid.. The guy is in the playoffs, so I think he is doing fine.

I don't know whether passes over the middle, etc. are due to Sark alone, or to Ewers perhaps seeing the field better, going through his progressions and distributing the ball better. Or maybe the OL is doing better at maintaining the pocket's front line? Point being is, I often see foiled plays decried as Sark's poor play calling when often it's simply a failure of execution by one or more players. I might have even been guilty a time or too of that myself. Difficult to see everything going on as a play unfolds. Reviewing film is often revealing.

I definitely think the run game has been adjusted somewhat since Brooks went down, and glad for it.

I'm more concerned about how PK and our secondary handles Washington's passing game than our O against their D. I do recall they defensively schemed us well in the bowl game last season. But much has changed for us offensively since then and we don't have star players sitting this one out. Ewers mo better, OL better, and multiple offensive weapons all over to stress them with.

Oddly, I think we have seen more 2 Back sets since Brooks went down. I think all of the explosive runs the last 2 weeks came out of that. Sark adding a little more misdirection. When Keilan or Blue get open lanes, they aren’t getting caught

Lot of discussion about Penix here, but it was Washington's other skill players that impressed me vs. Oregon. Dillon Johnson is legit and he runs with a chip on his shoulder. The announcers couldn't shut up about Odunze at WR (stud), and Polk made a couple big catches late, but McMillan jumped out to me. He made dudes miss every time he touched the ball. Big time player.

I love our team but the D needs to bring it this game.

This is one of the few teams in the country that can match WR talent with Texas.. This will be the biggest test for the secondary this season.

I’m not an expert on our personnel but I agree and mentioned Mohammed. In a nickel or dime set we are going to want some physicality at the DB position are we not?

I think Blue and Baxter will do fine. We are going to have to score 50 to know we win I’m afraid - unless PK does some scheme wizardry.  In the end if we can control the LoS on defense and get lots of pressure we will be ok. I think disrupting their WR would be a good thing. But hell I dunno.

these games matter at a different level, let’s truly be all gas no brakes instead of rest stop third quarter potty break.

Texas is a base nickel team. They are in nickel the vast majority of the time. Texas has what I will call the spread nickel, where they bring in Mo Blackwell to replace Hill for coverage reasons. I was just suggesting putting Derek Williams there. He is at least as physical and is a better coverage guy

It’ll make us less predictable for WA too. I’m not too worried about the offense. I’m worried about the secondary. Need Watts and Catalon back. Not sure who else is hurt. Mohammed looks like he’s coming along. Mostly we need refs that will let the game be physical.

I am not sure about that. Brooks had his best game as Longhorn vs Washington in the bowl game. You could argue Maalik Muhammad is more suited to play vs Washington than Watts. He arguably plays the ball better than any other CB and Washington will throw deep jump balls often. This game will be more about coverage, than physicality.

This would be an interesting game for PK to install some dime. Maybe simply swap out Blackwell for Derek Williams

If FSU wins, they are in and selection committee will pick Alabama over Texas.

Washington and Michigan are other two.

The fact selection committee had Oregon at #5 and Texas at #7 despite the metrics all favoring Texas tells me they will pick Alabama over Texas because they beat #1 Georgia.

I don’t agree with this but think this fuck job is coming if FSU wins.

If FSU loses, Texas is in.

This makes no sense. Committee had Oregon over Texas, so Bama will jump Texas. The committee had Texas over Bama also.. So it only matters in the Oregon case, but not the Bama case?

Draft position was only one of the considerations. His group believes he hasn't played enough ball to have a long successful career in the NFL.

The Pete Thamel tweet was very telling there. His play to end this season will only make his offseason hype that much greater. He could be a top 5 projected pick going into next year.

They have mentioned the 25 starts thing, but if he gets to the Championship game he is at 23. I am not sure 2 starts will hold him back. I think this situation is fluid.

Seems like a loss by Michigan or FSU, coupled with a Jawja win gets Texas in if the Longhorns beat okie lite.

Oregon with 2 losses is out.

It’s simple. Undefeated teams get a spot. 2 loss Oregon is out, but undefeated Washington is in. That is a spot taken up. Washington is 100% in over Texas, there is no argument. Oregon was probably 90% in, but there was an argument. Washington won, that wasn’t good for Texas. Not a big hit either. Georgia winning is worse. There is 0 argument for Texas to get in over Georgia. There is actually a really good argument for Texas to get in over Bama. FSU losing is the best result and most likely. Michigan would be a great result, but highly unlikely. This is really simple.

Will be interesting to me whether Blue stays or portals. He seemed to improve his inside running these last few games. Even making some hard yards after contact. Not enough samples to be definitive, but encouraging nevertheless. Think Baxter will benefit from another year in the oven. Not that he isn't big and strong as it is, but still expect a guy his age to put on some good weight from S&C. Hoping that helps his durability.

Really liked the flashes we saw from Wisner too. He has good vision, similar to Brooks IMO. Good problem to have, but can we hang onto all these guys.

Wrong or right, I am discounting the Tech game. The OL absolutely dominated from about the 2Q on. Speed is going to look very good in a game like that.

    Someone was faster? Jesus.

Next year will be interesting. Baxter needs to work on contact balance and picking his feet up in the hole.  I dont think Blue is every down RB in an offense that relies on inside zone.. Sounds like Brooks is unlikely to be back. Bobby has been extremely high on Christian Clark, since the beginning..

He runs hard. I've written Blue off more times than I can count... and it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong, which I will not be doing here.

I have seen him tip-toe at times between the tackles, when the holes are not huge.. Baxter and Blue are still a work in progress. Texas run game will remain productive, as long as, Worthy and Mitchell are out here and teams have to respect them..

Came here to post the Babers 21 personnel comments, see that it’s already been posted. Blue can fly and has lots of wiggle, just not a beast between the tackles. How is he catching balls out of the backfield? Maybe we see that Saturday. Wheel, screen, toss back.

That was supposedly his best asset as a recruit. Speed and pass catching were his calling cards

Not saying you're wrong, but Sanders was an early enrollee and didn't hardly see the field at TE (mostly played special teams) his true freshman year. Outside of QB, I'd bet TE is the position with the steepest learning curve in this offense. I am skeptical of a true freshman contributing there in any meaningful way.

I would agree with this. The biggest obstacle for young TEs to find playing time is blocking. Most these guys are not asked to do much blocking in HS and are rarely ready to take on a grown man at DE in year 1.

I have no evidence of this but it feels like we're running a lot more 21 personnel without Brooks. Which is interesting. It gave Tech a ton of issues. Watch them all bite on CJ Baxter here which is really what opened up this big run.

This and the KRob were untouched TDs, beautiful offense. Babers has talked about that recently.. Texas didnt run much early in the season and have slowly increased it. Theory being the RBs werent ready.. He thought they would scrap it after Brooks went down, but that has not been the case. Based on his research it is the most productive formation for Texas under the Sark regime. There is an argument that you could see that as a staple of the offense next year. Baxter and Blue are a good pair for that. Its a nice speed/power pairing.. .

You can skip to the 31 minute mark to hear the discussion on the 21 set
