  1. Yeah, I guess. I'm trying to remember, but pretty sure there were free refills on popcorn (worked at a couple different ones) and that only costs like 3 cents for a big bucket so not really money leaking out the door there or an easy way to track that like number of containers sold. Guess it must have been the number of voids going up although the guys was only doing it like 4/5 times a day to get lunch and beer money. I think at the time we were maybe just highlighting them yellow and writing "void" on it LOL. Not very sophisticated POS systems at the time either. Ok. Enough reminiscing. Let's money whip Benjamin. Speaking of which, hadn't posted in a long time and noticed my Burnt Ends banner fell off so I guess I need to renew it.
  2. Hands on a Hardbody was crazy. Rumor was we had like 1 of only 10 copies of the film in existence or something silly. Tom Arnold and I wanna say either Ted Koppel or Tom Brokaw (can't recall which) flew in specifically to see it. It had kind of run its course after 10 months and they ran the tagline "Last week" in the newspaper and all of a sudden it sold out again for like 6 weeks straight and we had to keep it longer. There were some really weird movies that ran through there. Orgazmo was another interesting one I remember. Usually we had 2 mainstream films, 1 artsy fartsy, and one borderline porno at all times. The owner when I was there was some Gay Canadian guy (nttiawwt). He had to fire some neighbor kid he had hired because he was cleaning the theatres and reusing the large popcorn buckets and reselling them and then later voiding out the sale and pocketing the money. That way when inventory was done, nobody noticed because the # of containers weren't off from the number of sales. That was when I truly learned the difference between book smart and street smart. Still not sure how he caught him. That seemed like a pretty good racket.
  3. I was projectionist at Dobie Theater when this first came out. I put the movie together and then had to stay by myself to watch it to make sure I didn't fuck something up and put a reel on upside down or something stupid. I had no idea what the movie was even about. I was probably 20 at the time, but that scared the shit out of me. I remember getting home about 3am and googling it and they had that whole backstory internet campaign going online trying to make people think it was real. On the other side of the spectrum was watching Something About Mary with no idea of the greatness I was about to witness. Good times. Best jobs I ever had were working at movie theaters.
  4. I don't know shit about fuck, and he was probably about 4th or 5th on my wish list, but I feel pretty good about the direction of the program after watching his intro press conference.
  5. Also Bielema was just his usual ass-ish self....sending out super late substitutions every time on defense and instructing his fat players to run off and onto the field as slow as possible, forcing Beamer to use multiple timeouts to avoid penalties before the play clock expired since the refs weren't letting the offense snap the ball. Legal...sure. But shady and par for the course for Brett. That was really the genesis of it all imo.
  6. Wasn't part of his issue allegedly having troubles with Heat/Humidity and Asthma or some such.....on top of being out of shape? Seems an interesting choice.
  7. I had quite the dynasty in NCAA football back in the day with my mighty Ass Tech Aztecs
  8. Interested.... Interested.... Very Interested....
  9. Just be careful not to get into a fight. I'm guessing you haven't been training at the same altitude as Temple, Texas.
  10. Wonder if the pattern of terrible OL play leading to repeated QB injuries makes Conner and/or his family rethink moving baseball up his priority list.
  11. And that's why he is the assistant supply manager. Assistant to the supply manager
  12. Payton Kirkland kind of came out of nowhere a few days before announcing for us. Not a 5 star, but still very highly regarded at the time and a surprise in our favor. Never even visited campus before committing if I recall. But yeah, these typically don't seem to go our way.
  13. Yeah, it seems clear to me that he ends up at Arkansas. The G League visit is just optics on his part. He could have visited them at any point before Texas had released him from his NLI.
  14. Yeah Wasserman isn't great. But this note was so specific it had to be from someone on the ground witnessing it first hand so definitely a positive in our favor. Long time to go, but explains why several analysts think we currently lead.
  15. This writeup was from Manny Navarro. I'm not following him or anything but the story was listed under the "More for you" section of my feed so guessing since I typically read most recruiting related stories it showed up for me.
  16. The Athletic has a note today about the IMG Academy's Under Armour camp. Apparently Jerrick Gibson's dad is recruiting for Texas and was urging Oklahoma native and 5-star defensive lineman David Stone to give Texas some strong consideration.
  17. I'm Shocked that Petrino is leaving UNLV high and dry. He's usually so loyal and honest.
  18. Would love to get another year from Whittington, but I just have a feeling he's gone. Agents always sell these kids that they'll go 2-3 rounds higher than the draft grade says because it only takes one team to like them, and the agent has a contact with such and such team and they're telling me that if you're available in the 3rd round, they'd take you in a heartbeat....blah blah blah.
  19. This. But also, these top draft picks get a ton of endorsements in the NFL as well. It's not an either/or thing where it's a one for one swap of NIL money vs Salary. Trevor Lawrence makes an estimated $3MM per year in endorsements in addition to his salary.
  20. Another: Will Texas offensive line be really good for the first time in forever when Arch sees the field for meaningful snaps in 3 years? Let's not underestimate how big of an impact that had in things. For the first time in forever, it feels like luck has been on our side a bit. Cistobal leaving really helped turn the tide on our OL class last year. But credit to Flood for not quitting either. Hand would have been touring all the BBQ restaurants nearby for 8 months and then last minute offer some out of state 2 stars to fill out the roster.
  21. Wonder if Mario Williams told Addison to check out the the baseball facilities while he's here just for giggles. Hope I'm wrong, but this sure seems like Addison's camp trying to make it seem like there wasn't already an agreement in place with USC. Only hope is if Marion can sell coaching him up into a high first rounder rather than a late first or early 2nd. That difference can turn out to be way more than whatever the USC NIL offer could be.
  22. Love bringing in kids like Hall and Billingsley this off-season. Sometimes if a kid is a little bit lazy or immature in his freshman season, that can be turned around. They are so used to dominating just on natural talent alone, and they haven't ever had to work that hard for it, focus on fundamentals, or run crisp routes. I'm not one to fully believe practice reports, but Sanders sure seems to be turning heads so far this offseason. I think he ran into this very issue (Along with not wanting to block apparently). But a big part of coaching is motivating and getting the most out of your players. Giving guys like Marion and Banks ultra talented kids who need to be pushed and motivated isn't the worst thing in the world. Billingsley had success with Banks coaching him in the past, so maybe he knows what buttons to push. Plus I think Billingsley being here has had to have pushed Sanders a bit as well. Bottom line is we need more competition in every room on campus at this point.
  23. Well Duh, all of the kids choosing A&M due to *cough cough* "NIL Money" are going to have negatively impacted student-athlete experiences.
  24. Well he was fully committed to Wyoming first, so I guess based on that guy's logic, he never should have wanted Tennessee to take him in the first place. So it all worked out for everyone.
