  1. Had some friends swim across at the old bridge in NL.  Just becuase.

Mexican and American border guards just watched with the rest of us and laughed.  They asked me if I knew "those idiots" and I said I did.  Both sides said they'd probably get some bad infections becuase the water is so dirty.

The Mexican guards said the river would run dry if Nuevo didn't flush their toilets for 30 minutes.

Glad I didn't join them on that escpade.

I usually wake up early and take the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood.  This often gives me occasion to see wildlife one doesn't see during working hours.  A baby woodpecker jumping out of the nest, the occasional coyote, etc.  This weekend, the wife, Chad Jr. and I, were walking down to the local swimming hole (YMCA) and I was marveling that just that morning, I'd seen a female mallard sitting in the grass between the street and the sidewalk.  We walked less than a foot away from it and the dogs hadn't even noticed.

At this point, it got weird.  The wife says, "But we aren't really close to the water,  how did it get there?"  I responded with a quizzical look, and said, "Run that by me again, I'm not sure I understood.  We live within spitting distance of the lake?"  She responds, "But still, how did it get all the way over here (not far at all} on its' tiny little legs?"

I began to chuckle, and said, "You just made the thread."  - "What thread?"

Chad Jr. started laughing, "She thinks ducks can't fly!"

First time I took my old lady out to the deer blind it was for varmints and pigs. I had a varmint call, set it out and turned it on.  I told her the birds of prey will be the first to show up and we will see some bobcats and dogs soon after.

She rolled her eyes the way wives that have never gone to sit in a deer blind but know everything seem to always do.

I asked her "why the eye roll?"

She replied "the varmint call won't work on birds."

    I says, "why?"

She comes back with "birds can't hear because they don't have ears."

I asked her "why do people use duck calls?"

    Tone.....

I ate three Taco Bell tacos with Diablo sauce and a bucket of Dr. Pepper.

In the past I have said that people should eat Taco Bell when they want to avoid Mexican food. This Taco Bell must have heard me bitching, because they upped their game. Today I laid a double-flusher that looked like two dead catfish laying in the bowl. I'm guessing stuff I ate in grade school came out with it. I could go shop for new jeans in a smaller belt size, that is, if I trusted my gut enough to go more than ten feet from the bathroom.

Muchas gracias y todo respeto, Taco Bell.

Did your son get hush puppies?

  4. At deer lease (wife off somewhere between AZ & Utah)

Dry-aged ribeye (greeled), sauteed green beans with onion and bacon, boiled , mashed & baked white potatoes with green onions, Falfurrias butter, minced garlic, bacon, S&P and a topping of cheddar cheese.

and my 3rd share of a handle of Dewar's.

I mean, this is a solvable problem, right? We are not talking about putting a man on Mars. These are cars circulating on the streets in broad daylight, all around us. Scientists have figured out how to re-program the HIV virus to attack only cancerous cells. And we don’t know how to deal with an epidemic of cars with fake license plates and no insurance.

I view this the same way I view Johnny’s opinion, you’re somewhat wrong and somewhat right. There are shit parents with shit kids, great parents with shit kids, poor parents with rich kids and vice versa to all of those. A jump start makes everything easier but people still find their way out. They need role models whether it is parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, etc that take an interest in them and show them a different way. Everyone should volunteer or spend time with kids. It can be in church, clubs, sports, school, organizations, etc. but give your time and not always your dollars. If it helps one kid find their way then it was a success.

I came from nothing. My parents are alcoholics who didn’t do anything with their lives although both had successful parents. They got married in high school, didn’t graduate, and had me at 19. They were good parents in the sense they fed us, clothed us, and were home, but they sure didn’t set great examples. I had a 5th grade teacher at a school in the projects take me and several others under her wing and try to show us a way out over the next three years. I  got to high school, fucked off, became a drunk, and went down the hole to follow my parents. Ultimately another teacher made an impression on me, I met my now wife in 11th grade and decided to focus at that point. I pay more in taxes now than my parents ever made combined so it worked out. I have two sisters that both do well, a brother that finally seems to have a direction, and 2 worthless fuckup brothers I don’t talk to.

It all comes back to someone taking the time to make a difference. I give all the time I can now because I feel some responsibility for my two shit brothers. I didn’t have the time to spend with them while I was trying to get my own life set.

Thanks for the heads up T’Boo.  I am getting sideways with my current provider and not happy with their customer service. They pulled a large chunk of cash out of my auto draft account without any notice. They have admitted the error was their fault but they are being very slow to correct the situation. They also “audited” my account and significantly increased my gross sales amount to a number that is no where close to reality. They cannot tell me who they spoke to about the “audit” or where they got their numbers. I have requested a copy of the audit with no luck yet. I have also submitted detailed accounting reports showing actual numbers but still paying the higher premiums for their made up numbers.

Usually an insurance auditor shows up for a scheduled, on-site interview and you provide pre-requested information such as your gross sales as generated by you accounting system and then back up evidence such as you monthly or quarterly reporting of sales as made available to the the state comptroller.

Did they not show up and get this information directly from you?  They just adjusted what ever you told them over the phone and added in what they thought was right?    Sounds real squirrely.

You can protest your audit.  Usually your agent files the paperwork with the carrier and they just do a simple recalculation with your objections noted.  I just did this with our carrier as they calculated the audit based on 13 months instead of 12 months.   12 months matches the policy period.  They said "oops, sorry about trying to get an extra month worth of sales in the calculation our of you," adjusted the amount due and I sent the check in.

Your agent needs to get this corrected and corrected fast.

Who is your carrier?  Don't worry, we won't tell anyone.

As a business note, never let another entity have access to your operating account, unless it is your bank taking interest payments or some regularly scheduled tap like health insurance.

Damn.  I couldn't find any 6 month plan anywhere so I bit the bullet and signed up for a 12 month plan the day I got the POLR notice.

I’m less than that for the month.

I was out of town when Wormer dropped the big one.  I irks me to send Reliant that payment.

    Consider me surled.

  9. Errbody mad and offended nowadays.   Of course, if the rest of you malcontents, low-lifes, inbreds, mouthbreathers, morons, dipshits, leeches and single issue voters would get therapy so you see it "my way" then we would all be fine.

    Sound about right, Brisket?
