HPS is really talking up the glossy Socialism brochure; complete with all of the highlights and benefits while holding his crib sheet that Mitch and Murray from downtown provided to him to use when people have objections.

Look, the reason that even small-scale examples fail is because they get crushed from the outside because, whether it's stalinism, fascism, the American system, etc, they all have an interest in ensuring that those movements never survive.
So it's always someone else's fault socialism fails? "Crushed from the outside?" If socialists would just be left alone to their own devices then all would be good? Hmm....where have we heard about groups just wanting to be left alone with no outside intrusion?

My family has several connections to the Campbell's including a great grandmother who came from Scotland as a girl and her last name was Campbell. So I get to wear one of the best: Black Watch.
I also have a distant connection to Robert the Bruce's son-in-law, Walter Stewart so I can also wear any of the Stewart plaids.
I wear a lot of plaid.
And you look fabulous in plaid. Fabulous!!

Having lunch all by my lonesome today (bitter...table for one?). I had to get up and move because the jerk off in the booth behind me was watching youtube videos on his smart phone and had the volume turned up to 11.
I got up and asked him if it was necessary to have the volume up so loud and he just had a slacked jawed look on his mug as if I was from outer space. He literally just sat there with his mouth agape and half full of semi-chewed food.
I knew his little thimble sized brain wasn't working to well so I just up and left for another spot.

the means of production, distribution, etc lies in the hands of the community (as in the entire community and not some illegitimate power structure).
Yep, that will work.

That sounds about right for Fred Akers. My best friend growing up (and to this day) was a huge Longhorn fan. Both parents and grandparents went to UT. He was heavily recruited by UT and aggy was one of his back ups. His interaction with Fred was the deal killer. Fred was pompous, arrogant and aloof; which apparently translated to his whole program and caused his own demise and our being lost in the wilderness for 20 years
It crushed my friend because he wanted to play for Texas. Even his hard core dad UT was shocked. My friend went aggy with Wilson and then Jackie showed up. He said Sherrill was plain evil but a great coach that used fear as his motivator.
So, in the end: fuck aggy.

That's the idea. The millennials and the generation behind them seem very responsive.
And you just can't wait, can you? Socialist utopia forever!

Watched The Battered Bastards of Baseball the other night. Documentary about the Portland Mavericks A League baseball team in the early to mid '70s.
Team was owned by Kurt Russell's pop. Great watch.

I was the right-hand man of the CEO of a large, successful company, and his heir-apparent. His only son was a worthless little shit. Spent the whole day getting drunk and throwing pickles.
Well, when the time came, that old geezer flaked out and decided to give his boy ONE more chance. He got on my nerves, and yeah, I flaked out a bit, but that's NO excuse take away my rightful place. Do you have any idea how many handjobs I had to give out to get to where I'm at?
Anyway, it all went to shit and here I am at a truckstop. Giving out handjobs. #irony

The idea of mixed income neighborhoods being beneficial doesn't really have to do with race. You can take poor white people and put them in with wealthy black people and the effect would be the same. It's about rich and poor and exposing the poor to life outside of concentrated poverty. The reason it has to do with race in this country is because black people are disproportionately poor when compared to white people so they make up a disproportionate share of low income housing residents.
You're dancing now. Before it was a racism problem that has now waltzed into a money problem.
White people racist. That racism keeps blacks down. Solution: desegregate neighborhoods where blacks move into white neighborhoods. End game: Everybody is white; problem solved.

I lost 20 lbs. last summer. Cut down (not quit) carbs, watch sugar intake, smaller portions and semi regular exercise. Walk 3x at 35-40 minutes, walk 2x at 60 minutes. Push-ups, air squats, simple ab routine. I'm 54.
Harvey hit and the routine went away and I'm back where I started. Now the routine started again last week. Down some already.
Not being a lazy pig seems to work for me. Plus, I'm afeart of "fad" diets.
