Fatalism is a privilege of the ruling class.

I'm not  member of the ruling class.  I do what I can to help others.  I've provided free roofs for the needy, I've given away items to those in need, I've provided money with no strings attached or requirement for repayment.

Some stuff goes to good use and some went down the drain.

There are those that choose to live as they do, some are stuck in their circumstances and, unfortunately, children are often the collateral damage.

There are rays of hope and at other times you need to shake the dust from your feet, move on and leave people on their own.

I know that makes a huge difference for children. Integrated neighborhoods are one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty. Sadly, this country suffers from a NIMBYism that relegates low income households to neighborhoods where children have no exposure to anything but poverty.

Being poor sucks.  No doubt.  Integrated neighborhoods would be a great idea if it would work but it won't becuase people are people.  The world is a hard place.

  3. OK.  I'm sure that made a difference to the people in Section 8 housing, having you grow up down the street and what not.

So, you're telling me you'd like some S8 housing right up next to your house?  Interesting.

Would you accept low income housing in your neighborhood?

    No.  Would you?

Section 8 housing is less than 3 miles away across the highway and it is a problem for our neighborhood.

Here's a thought. Start caring and see what happens.

I can care all I want to.  If the people doing this don't care then what difference does it make?  Me caring, me changing my ways won't do a damn thing to them care.

It's like an alcholic or a drug addict.  Until they want to change then all the efforts by others are pointless.

Not a hard concept to grasp.

    Do I like it?  No.

Do I want it to continue?  No.

    Is it horrible?  Yes.

I forgot those were all states in 1787.

You were referring to the recent election results with your comment to HS's stupidity.  Don't back track.

Couple days ago I was driving through a neighborhood behind a guy in a big F250. Dude signals right and then starts turning right at the street coming up. As I approach he immediately swings back to the left across the street like he's gonna make a big wide left u-turn, or like he's positioning to back his truck into that side street, or who knows what. Damn near hit the guy. After stopping, I start to go again & the dipshit is yelling at me, saying he signaled, so I should somehow have known what he was doing. Fucking people.

This move is OK when pulling a gooseneck trailer.  At all other times, this move is cause for immediate removal from the park grounds.

It's standard operating procedure on the Houston multi lane feeder roads for drivers in the left lane to punch it to get ahead of a driver in the right lane and then slam on their brakes to turn right.  It's almost always done when the road behind me is completely clear too.  One of these days i'm going to go all Falling Down on someone's ass.

I've never noticed you riding in the seat next to me.  Speak up next time, would you?

From an electoral college perspective, Texas had enough electoral votes to swing the election.

It’s no wonder why the GOP is terrified of Texas going blue.

    Uh, really?  Such brilliant analysis.

You love / live to post here.  Can you lay it down for a day? One day?  Serious.

It doesn't. Socratic method means asking questions. The questions he asks he answers himself immediately, no waiting or latency; he is setting himself up because he loves to hear himself talk and is a godawful listener and participant in back-and-forth because he's not listening to understand, he's listening to formulate his next argument.

I’m curious as well. I would ask you, what do they do now? Many factory jobs went oversees or were automated. The youths say it is incredibly hard to find a job now. (There wasn’t a lot of jobs 20 years ago either)

What are the people doing without jobs? Are the parents supporting them? Is the government? Probably both.

I hear you.  Outside of compensation for work provided, just passing the time of day with nothing to do other than clown around all day seems to play right into the devil's hands.

Retirement age is not to far off for me.  If I just stone cold retired and had nothing to look forward to other than playing golf all of the time or some other activity like that I think I would go insane.  As of now, I would prefer to work until I just physically can't do it anymore.

I like working.  Work provides structure, goals and a sense of acheivment.

I wish they would hurry the fuck up.

What would you do with your life?

We make fun of shitty jobs, a-hole employers, retarded co-workers and so on but if lots of jobs are automated then what will the average schmuck do all day long?  Sure, the funny answers will come piling in and I will laugh at them but people need work.  Work provides self-worth and order.  There are already enough slobs with no jobs breathing up oxygen.  We don't need more.

Or - "let me explain"....  No just answer the question - "yes" or "no"

“Let me explain” is what I call “making snowballs.”   They are in your office nervously explaining something while pressing their cupped hands together like they’re making snowballs.

Yes, book fags, I lifted that from A Man In Full by Tom Wolfe.

People that can't answer a question in the format required.  If you are asked "How many ..." and your answer does not include a number, fuck you.  If you are asked "When ..." or "How long ago ..." and your answer does not include a date or some number associated with a calendar unit (days/weeks/months/years), fuck you.  All day long with this shit.

    Jeez. You know my employees?

I say, “the only possible 2 answers to the question I’m about to ask you are ‘yes’ or ‘no.’  Please provide me with a “yes” or a “no.”

The typical reply I get:  “uh, uh, green?”
