Or, you know, things are objectively getting better, and we have more data, warranting a change in policy. Why might they be getting better?

The shortened quarantine was a political decision.

How is reclassifying hospitalizations and deaths a byproduct of improving conditions? That’s just trying to change the narrative.

Also, I forgot cloth masks no longer work. Is that because things have gotten better? No, more optics.

It should be an easy out. That would be a huge upset if Eagles can knock them off. I feel kind of dirty even rooting for the Eagles in that game. But it would be true Cowboys fashion for that upset to happen and not take advantage and lose to SF. They already did this last week against Arizona when the 2 seed was very much in control. Now in hindsight it didn't matter because Arizona and Rams lost this week so the 3 way tie that would have made Dallas the 2 seed would not have came into play. Tampa beat us so they would have got it with a 2 way tie. But no one knew it last week.

Dallas is most likely going to have to beat both Brady and Rodgers on the road to get to the Super Bowl. But I am not even sure they can beat SF to even have the chance.

It’s kind of crazy to think, but I would prefer the Bucs over the Rams/Cardinals next round if it came to it. With Godwin/Ab gone and Fournette limited that leaves Evans and Gronk. Diggs neutralizes Evans and Brady is very limited. Lattimore for NO always does well against Evans and you see what the Saints were able to do. I know it’s Brady and all but the formula is there to take them out. Of course let’s beat up Jimmy G first.

CDC: “of 1.2m vaxxed, severe illness occured in 0.015% of people.  (15 in 100,000)

75% of deaths occured in people who had atleast 4 co-morbodities; people who were unwell to begin with”

If youre vaxxed…do whatever the fuck you want to do.  Almost like what some have said for a long time.

This is obviously how most people are feeling. Polling must be scaring Democrats. A coordinated retreat by the government and media. Shortened quarantine, suddenly we need to differentiate if hospitalizations are for Covid or with Covid, vaccinations don’t really help stop transmission. They’re trying to reset expectations, improve the optics.

Even have Pfizer CEO today saying they can improve the safety profile of mRNA treatments. That would’ve never been spoken earlier in the pandemic. Again, seems all very coordinated.

  4. Family was looking for some where different this summer for a trip. Just booked a summer week at Westin Reserva Conchal. Looks pretty nice. Has anyone stayed there or close by? I’m curious what attractions are nearby that are worth checking out? We always try to venture off the property wherever we’re staying.

I’ve been to a bachelor party in Jaco (whoa), otherwise I know very little about CR.

This has been theorized pretty widely since the beginning. IIRC it was one of the suggested reasons why kids did so much better, or were less likely to even contract it.

I kind of feel like I’m done with additional shots unless it’s on an annual basis.

At this point if vaccine is not going to stop transmission, and just lessen severity, I’ll rely on my T cells until 365 or so days is up

This is the big issue. Does government change definition of fully vaccinated? Currently boosters recommended at 5 months out, but not mandated.

We’ve been hearing that sort of talk for nearly two full years. So far it has been inaccurate.

I attempted to show reports over the few months Omi has gone worldwide.

Yes, vaccinate the world. Cross your fingers.

A low cost pill, developed for the purpose of being able to vaccinate the world.

A Texas team comes up with a COVID vaccine that could be a global game changer

Do you have any idea why in a large portion of the world mass vaccination is impossible?

  8. The worst part of it being Monday is the commentators. Almost every 3 man crew feels so fucking forced. Riddick and Griese’s commentary just feel so forced and scripted because they have limited time to get in whatever points they have in their heads coming into the game.

I am having beer number two in a bar at Mt Bachelor after a day of snowboarding.  The bartenders are wearing masks, some haphazardly.  Those who follow me know I am not a right wing anti-vaxxer.  But after being vaxxed and infected I feel free to live my life.  I will also get booster on February.  And wear a mask where asked to do so.

If this lumps me into the cult types I will be sad.  But ah well.

    If you’re anti-mandate, you’re anti-vaxxer.

But let's go ahead and mandate the vaccines for children & teenagers (populations that have a virtual zero risk of serious illness).

They can definitely mess up your cycles. My friend’s wife was freaking out after their 13 year old got vaccinated because she didn’t have one for 3 months afterward. Pretty weird. AFAIK it’s fine now.

Yeah, I get that it is a short-term shit sandwich for kids and their parents, absolutely.

But all of this freakout about long-term consequences I don't know about.  Kids spending all their time at school is a relatively new phenomenon and we managed not to raise millions of psychos for centuries.

I’d be willing to bet you don’t have small kids. The only people I’ve seen downplay the effects of school closures and remote learning are people without kids that had to do it.

It isn't beyond clear that it is less severe. What is clear is that the effect has been less severe on the population as a whole. But that is largely because a significant portion of population is vaccinated or has been previously exposed. The data isn't clear at all that omicron itself is less severe for those with novel exposure. The studies are decidedly mixed on that.

    Which studies?

Yes, if masks are worn appropriately, they help. If people follow the guidance of which masks to wear, it would help. Masks are not Covid cosplay.

quote from the article. ID Doc at ucsf.

“If everyone is just wearing a cloth mask or just a surgical mask, it won’t make any difference” with this highly-transmissible variant, she says.

Do you think masks are theatre?

With omicron, defintiely. Cloth masks can go in the trash. Loose fitting surgical ones too. All Covid cosplay.

I guess if you’re saying everyone is wearing N95s appropriately it could help, but that’s not what we’re talking about.
