  1. I loved Fujiya, especially the original location on Fred but also when they moved to Wurzbach. Other than Nikkis, that was the only place to get sushi in SA back in the day.
  2. Not sure how you fire the guy who just coached you to the In-Season Title.
  3. You know better.
  4. Anybody up for some chicken wings and jenga?
  5. He’s such a piece of shit.
  6. That Market Square event has notoriously been the one of the sketchiest fiesta events for several years now. This isn't close to being the first incident. Like the rest of you, I avoid most events with big crowds anyway, but I remember going to that thing several years ago to see a friend's band and feeling unsafe. Bad vibes, all the way around.
  7. I would be surprised to see PG leave. He spent half his career trying to get home to LA. Ballmer will give him more money than anyone else. The Clippers really aren't in that bad of shape, cap-wise. Kawhi's deal is dumb, but they don't have much committed beyond that. PG will change that, though. They are going to have to make a decision on Harden who is unrestricted this off season. Westbrook has a NBA minimum player option that I can't imagine he opts into. I wonder what kind of interest either of them gets on the open market.
  8. If he's Mackey 2.0, then he will absolutely kill it in San Antonio with the overweight cholas.
  9. I don't agree with his assessment that he's not a playmaker or passer. He did plenty of that at Kentucky and that's not really a prerequisite to play "point guard" in the NBA today and particularly in the Spurs system. And he's plenty quick. The question about him is strictly on defense. Can he hold up? Is he going to get hunted mercilessly? All of this is bullshit speculation until the lottery order shakes out anyway, but Dillingham makes a lot of sense. Most of the other lottery teams don't need point guards so there's a decent chance he's available no matter where the Spurs pick.
  10. The NBA ref conspiracy theory trope is so lame and tired. This just in: they miss calls. They are human. It happens. Anything beyond that is black helicopter shit. Except for Tony Brothers. He's just fucking incompetent.
  11. Anybody playing Oklahoma or A&M. Or when they play each other, the second favorite team would be a meteor.
  12. Nobody is discounting the Celtics place in NBA history. Let's face it, they are arguably the third greatest franchise behind the Spurs and Lakers. But since the Heat entered the league in 1988, they have been to 7 finals and won 3 titles. Over that same period, the Celtics have been to 3 finals and won 1 title. You want to throw out the Lebron years, then you should probably throw out the KG/Pierce/Allen years that started all of that super team bullshit in the first place. In that case, it's 3 finals and 1 title for the Heat and 1 finals and 0 championships for the Celtics. Other than their first few expansion years, the Heat have been a better overall franchise than the Celtics by just about any metric and especially since Pat Riley got there. The series haven't been necessarily close, but there have been some fantastic games. Both the NY/Philly and LA/Denver series have been incredible to watch, even though they both look like blowouts on paper. I would much rather have those series than something like Cleveland/Orlando that is tied at 2-2 without much compelling basketball. Really looking forward to this series. Great matchups all over the court. Denver is beat up a bit. Minnesota looked great but how much of that was Phoenix stinking up the joint? Phoenix was so thin to begin with and once Grayson Allen went out they were really screwed. In addition to his shooting, he was probably Phoenix's best hope at defending Edwards. Denver will have some more options to throw at him on the perimeter.
  13. The only con to it conveying this season is that the draft class blows. Everything else points to it being a good thing. Also, they have two more years after this one for it to convey, not one. It's definitely a possibility that it doesn't ever convey but Toronto has a young star in Barnes, some decent vets, a clean cap, and they play in the shitty east. I can't imagine a three year tank job with that group and their front office. For roster building and balance purposes, the Spurs already have two guaranteed FRP next year, and could have two more (Chicago and Charlotte) plus the Toronto pick. Doubtful they all hit, but adding five rookies to the youngest roster in the league seems a bit insane. Even adding two this year and two next year seems like a lot. Gonna be some trading going on, for sure.
  14. No flex zone is arguably worse - less cringy but much more aggressively irritating. Both of them send me scrambling for the mute button, almost reflexively at this point. Fuck Wingstop, fuck jenga, and fuck whatever shitty product those assholes from Oklahoma are pimping. The more I think about it, this offseason could be bananas. The Lakers, Warriors, Suns, and Clippers all have aging stars, are in varying degrees of cap hell, aren't legit contenders, and are going to have to make some difficult decisions. You could throw the Bucks in there, too. I can't imagine all of them running it back and paying huge tax bills just to fight for the play in or an early exit.
  15. Frank Vogel is so fired. And this killed me:
  16. God dammit.
  17. Yeah I figured it out right around halftime that people aren’t restricted to only watching sports on broadcast television. Early adopter and shit. I don’t even have the heart to say fuck Kawhi any more. He’s already been fucked enough by his broken down body. Get well soon. You’re never winning shit.
  18. Fucking ABC affiliate in San Antonio has preempted Lakers / Nuggets for the got dam fiesta night parade.
  19. Third highest payroll in the league, completely mortgaged future, and going to win the same number of playoff games as the Pistons while being only moderately more competitive. I’d say that’s a helluva first year as an owner.
  20. Pluckers? Is that correct, Ketch?
  21. The Eddie Murphy / Nutty Professor schtick is tough to watch. I generally like RDJ, but come the fuck on. Has that bit ever worked? Maybe it would be cheeky in a one-off, background character who only has like one line, but it's distracting as hell and comes off like a huge ego trip. Anybody want odds they do a scene where he's acting with himself in some CGI bullshit? I might have to quit the show if they push it that far.
  22. Is he actually on his phone there? WTF? How do you even take that out of the locker room? Boston is an enigma for sure. As usual, there is a lot of overreaction from one game, especially from one where Miami went bonkers from three. But then you see something like this, and just say WTF? Maybe Miami just has their number? I do think that the Celtics are overrated though. They keep throwing up all of those historical stats about point differential and SRS and how much better they were than everybody else in the conference, but all of the East contenders had to deal with major shit this year, and the bottom of the conference is a joke. So, all those crazy numbers are inflated. Beyond that, they are a 100% 5-out, live by the three, die by the three offense. Those shots are a lot easier in December when the refs call a foul every time you breathe hard on someone. They aren't going to get those same looks in the playoffs. They won't be able to fire Joe Mazzulla fast enough if Spoelstra continues to pants him in this series.
