  1. We're not PU without Dickson. I think the question could be "which position has the most players playing five years in the league?" My guess is DB. We're not PKU without Justin.
  2. In the great, famous words of Billy Packer, "This game is ovah!"
  3. Rams are fighting, at least.
  4. That guy is definitely the man of the hour, day, possibly season for catching and holding that ball so well. l
  5. Call it hindsight, I guess, but do you think different ideas were thrown around once our coaches realized we had a 3rd quarter problem? And we had plenty of great reps from Arch, in the games early in the season. All we had to do was have Arch come out and run the first series of the 2nd half in two or three games in a row, it seems to me. This was so much easier to handle than the stupid 2009 situation, I think, when Mack fucked up by refusing to let GG pass when he was allowed to go in and mop up. Doesn't QE improve his focus, etc. when he sees Arch moving the ball in the 3rd quarter? Got to look at Saban. Remember he sat whichever starting QB it was and went to the backup in the 3rd or 4th quarter? Wasn't it the final game? Unbelievable. Is Saban the only coach with the balls to do that?
  6. This was indeed the #2 waste of defensive talent in UT history, only behind the 1983 team. #1 ranked D all season, and if memory serves correctly, all senior starters drafted into the pros, and a backup senior drafted as well. Many people maintain that if Fred had started Rob Moerschell at QB in the 1984 CB, we would have an additional NC to our name. Instead we had Rick McIvor throwing darts at receivers who dropped many passes in the CB and the infamous dropped punt by Craig Curry in the 10-9 loss to Georgia. The strange factoid of the day is that nobody knew that game lost us the NC while it was being played. We didn't know it until Miami upset Nebraska 31-30 in the Orange Bowl, in the best bowl game I have ever seen until the 2003? Fiesta bowl, Ohio State vs. Miami, the game when Miami's great RB got hurt, and then of course the top two bowl games ever, the 2005 Rose Bowl and the 2006 Rose Bowl.
  7. Whichever Walker it is, he definitely flew over the goal line on a regular basis, and don't think we would have any problem recruiting some young man to jump over the line to score TDs.
  8. 2nd chance at the lead.....dont' waste it.
  9. 3rd down from the 3, and throws incomplete....will Dan Quinn go for it? incomplete in end zone. don't know if you can make a case for flag or not.
  10. 1st and goal at the one, Daniels does the rollout pass run option and has to throw it away. 2nd and goal at the one, handoff for negative yards.
  11. So, the reason I think I remember this guy. Round Rock High School, I'm a freshman in the band, and we go to Killeen for the first time, and this guy runs roughshod over us, and the score might have been 21-0 at the end of quarter one. Or I might be confusing this with the Temple game. Either way, it made a serious impact. We won every halftime and lost almost every football game.
  12. Walker, John 45 OB 6-1 210 Fr-HS Killeen, TX (Killeen) Walls, Herkie 11 QB-WR 5-8 146 So-1L Garland, TX (Garland) my Texas football brain is still working!!! from the 1980 roster! Check out Herkie's height and weight!
  13. Nope, somebody is messed up here. I just saw a picture of #36 Adrian Walker and it says 1991. The Walker I am thinking of is at least 1985 or earlier. hmmm. For some reason I think he was #45, but don't know.
  14. ok,. thanks. So Adrian is from Killeen or Temple? I'm old now.
  15. Skins haven't looked this good since Riggins and Company....and that's a LONG TIME!
  16. woo! Now that is a cool punt return!
  17. HA! Baker is not used to seeing holding calls.
  18. I don't think Daniels is ok. more than a cut.
  19. 1st down commanders, by an eyelash.
  20. Finally , what looks to be a really good game. I like Quinn, and I can put up with Kliff. This guy Daniels is a cool, cool, customer.
  21. Johnny Sky Walker..."Johnny got the nickname "Sky Walker" because of the way he would jump over defenses to score."
  22. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/former-ut-football-player-believes-he-had-covid-19-in-january This is Johnny Walker from the 1980s.
  23. About the 1984 Cotton Bowl. Both January 2025 and January 1984 have something in common. We lost our star RB in both years. In 1983 Edwin Simmons was the best freshman RB in the country. Go back and look at his Texas-OU highlights. Unbelievable speed hitting the hole, was going to run for probably 1300 yards easily. Had knee injury, doctors somehow found out one of his legs was significantly shorter than the other and he was basically done. Other thing in common, we had the best D in UT history in 1983 and this one ranks #2 or 3 imo. The 1981 D was probably better than this one. Harder hitting, but didn't have to defend much against the pass. The question to ask is how long will we be in the wilderness? January 1984 to 1990-shock the nation, only to be humiliated against Miami. Then six more years to James Brown, "maybe we'll beat them by 21?" and then finally 8 or 9 more years. I actually count beating Michigan in the 2005 Rose Bowl as being completely back to National prominence, as it laid the foundation for the 2006 game. I strongly believe knowing the scene and all the things about the Rose Bowl helped the team immensely. We are most definitely not going into the wilderness x number of years after this year. We should be back, right away.
  24. I have the ultimate two remaining answers on the 1st and goal, one of which has already been proposed. 1. The Ravens showed us yesterday how to run the tush push, without possible harm to the QB. Utilize a strong non-QB. They use the TE. Take the snap from center the old-fashonied way and tush push works, about 99% of the time. I think I have seen it stopped once. 2. I remembered this morning Johnny Walker, RB for UT in the 80s, he flew over the pile, and this tactic was copied by Bo Jackson, among others. If I remember correctly, Walker would line up in the I, run to the line, take the handoff from a QB taking the snap directly from center, plant both feet on or about the 2 yard line and fly over the pile at the goal line. He was such a great flyer, he might have been able to take off from the 3, but I don't remember. I just saw an article online and he was nicknamed "Sky" Walker. I don't remember that, but he definitely flew over the goal line whenever needed. Maybe we need to recruit a flyer, but we can afford to do this now that we have NIL. So, we now have at least four ways to gain one yard of which we utilized 0 the other day, and all four require taking the snap directly from center: 1. QB sneak 2. fake FB dive, roll out, run pass option 3. Tush push-strong man not QB. 4. Fly over the goal line. Is there any problem with teaching the QB and strong man to take the snap from center? serious question.
  25. and there is the blonde chick referee, getting close to the pile, like she's gonna do something!!! HA!!!!
