  1. My ex used to watch Beverly Hills 90210 back when watching tv was a thing. She had it on, and I was dumbfounded by this scene. I was all..
  2. I fuckin love that song
  3. I’m a dirty ass sooner from norman. Chainsaw kittens brought it back in the day. I saw tyson perform I’m Waiting solo acoustic at the deli. It was a hypnotic performance. Also, one of the pioneers of the early 90’s trans movement. Recent-ish performance in norman Back in the day
  4. Just getting around to this. Rival Sons opened the show, and the seats were maybe 10% occupied. Made for a lot of echoing so the acoustics were lousy during the RS set. Interpol came on next. I’m not into them but some of the crowd seemed to enjoy them. Their sound is full of two chord rapid strumming. Coupled with the strobe lights of their light show made for a visual and audio assault on my GenX ass. The Pumpkins started their set with two newish tunes that were 80% drums and 20% everything else. I was thinking about an early exit at this point. The third song was an unique Talking Heads cover of Once in a lifetime. My interest was piqued. They them went into a string of songs with a heavy dose of siamese dream and mellon collie. That’s what I came to the show to hear. They played today, tonight tonight, 1979, hummer, cherub rock, disarm, bullet w butterfly wings, zero. I think they perform the songs too drum heavy at times. It’s as if the drummer is compelled to do drum fills at all times. Sometimes less is more. In fact, the crescendo of bullet lost its punch by the constant drum fills leading into it. The weather was glorious. 83 degrees with a light breeze by the end of the show. Corgan and the guitarist made several comments about the heat, and everyone is thinking “you have no idea”. Light show was fantastic and they sounded much much better than when I last saw them in ‘95.
  5. It’s 93 degrees. In Dallas. In Aug. Smashing Pumpkins in a few hours at Starplex. Last time I saw them live was at Starplex in ‘95 at lollapalooza. They were an indistinguishable wall of noise. Swore I’d never see them again. But based on comments here on how they sound now live, I’m going tonight with tempered expectations. Then, I’ve got a 8 AM flight tomorrow for a work trip. Shit, I better go pack.
  6. No one has been brave enough to tell me that jesus/god/santa claus will cure my type 1 diabetes. I suspect my reaction would make it somewhere on the internet.
  7. Did they hand out Naloxone? I saw the Bouncing Souls a couple months ago, and Punk Rock Saves Lives had a table at the show. They were giving out Naxoxone (i think) inhalers. I made a donation and chatted with them for a while. Also, I got the Pumpkins tomorrow night at dos equis in dallas. Should be a very comfortable 105 degrees. Outdoor shows in Aug make me rethink my life decisions. Rival Sons and Interpol opening for them.
  8. This song is what art is supposed to do. It’s making me think. Most songs and artists that dip their toes into politics stay true to one side or the other. My worldview doesn’t align perfectly with one side or the other, and it’s changed over the years. I suspect many people have a similar experience. This song differentiates itself by the artist’s honesty of his worldview. I suspect he knew this when writing the lyrics. A new artist introducing himself to the world knowing he could piss off literally every listener. Honest and brave.
  9. I take it as song expressing the frustration of the modern American experience, or 1970’s American experience, or 1930’s, or the robber baron era, or any era. It’s a great song that aligns with talking points on both sides of the aisle. Brave in today’s environment.
  10. Seconding Steve Perry I’m gonna get roasted for this. I listened exclusively to alternative in the late 80’s / early 90’s. An encyclopedic knowledge of 120 minutes-esque bands. But, at the end of the hair band era came the one hit wonder - Skid Row. I submit Sabastian Bach. I Remember You is a guilty pleasure of mine.
  11. Red Clay Strays showed up in my IG feed this morning. Never heard of them before. Lead singer channeling Stapleton. Devil in my ear seems to be a new song for them. They have a few shows in Texas in the coming months. I’d likely catch their show on McKinney in Sept but it’s the same night as pearl jam in ft worth. They have a show in deep ellum in nov. I’ll likely go to that one.

My copy of Bill was shipped last week.
  15. I normally drive to AT&T. The masses exit from 30 on the north side of the stadium so it’s a bottleneck. I live far north Dallas and take George Bush there. I pass 30 and come in from the south side and park in lot 13. My phone notes: Take George Bush tollway south/west Go past I-30 exit E Division St turn right and go west about 3 miles turn right on AT&T Way Section 13 is on right (past section 14) I live in Dallas so I can’t recommend any hotels near the stadium. That being said, Arlington lacks… umm… charm. To put it nicely.
  16. I found this to be an integral part of the storyline. Just kidding. Kinda. The inquiry room sex was pretty important to show the wife’s loyalty to oppe.
  17. I’m with you on the background music. At times, it drowned out the actors’ lines. I got to the point where it was like a laugh track for me; all I heard was the heavy-handed background music rather than the lines. I’ll likely watch it again on netflix or whatever streaming service shows it with subtitles. The beginning of the film seemed to chop off the actors’ line delivery between oppenheimer and his wife/girlfriend/whatever. No nuance for the actors’ delivery or response. I don’t understand the great reviews.
  18. I think there’s a lot of great new music. I asked my Gen Z kid what his all time fav song was. Sabotage. Beastie Boys.
  19. Houndmouth doing three nights at Antoine’s on Nov 30, Dec 1 and 2. Will need to con my wife into an Austin weekend to catch a show or two.
  20. I have tix for the toadies in plano on sat night but I may have to skip it. I’ve been traveling M-F each week for work the past four weeks, and it’s time to spend some time with the wife.
  21. Got my eye on that one as well
  22. Existential crisis initiated
