  1. I don't miss Shepherd on my commute. I took an Uber from Greenway to Garden Oaks at 430 today. Worst traffic I've seen in 6 months.
I love the Heights, but seems like TxDOT has decided Houstonians should live west and southwest of the city. The expanded and complete 10 and 59/69 actually move in traffic.
Yeah thats a good 30-45 minutes depending on the day.
  2. I noticed that there is a new traffic information sign installed near the Sonic on Shepherd. The kind of sign that Transtar or Metro can change the message, like 20 minutes to I-45, or whatever.
This plays into my fears that Shepherd between 610 and I-45 is going to become more and more an alternative to I-45. Add to the fact that the I-45 expansion is slowing down, perhaps to a halt, I could see TxDOT pushing more traffic to Shepherd.

What are you worried about? Do you not understand how much vehicular traffic will be reduced by the bike lanes?
  3. Took a flyer earlier in the year when I was accumulating oil positions. So I had a few shares of TRCH. Got a tip from another Henry Hub trader on TRCH. Took a full position last week.

well holeeee fuckeee suckeee long time. The “kids” piled on this morning, all day, and AFTER hours.

Been trading a long time. The worst thing about being up 70% is selling at the wrong time.

no, idgaf about the divi…probably keep a few shares in the merged company. Its crazy. Anyway…just curious if anyone else was caught up in it.
You took a flyer on a company that has virtually no production and had no real ability to increase production? Yeah if you sell you will make out but can we get a list of your other investments so we can stay away?

  4. If my math is correct and it's probably not,  you have enough syrup to make almost 600 snow cones.
    1 gallon= 128oz.
Internet says it's about 4 tbs/2oz per cone.
    128/2= 64 cones per gallon.
    64x9= 576 happy customers.

    * this does not include those of us that like them "flooded"
Apparently you're not familiar with the blast furnace thread.

  5. I was thinking GE. Lots of companies employ this without having their CFO create bullshit SPVs and their lunatic President create entire business units that produce nothing but sizzle and cost.
I hate working for a company that employs this, because it can ruin morale if not done properly, but at a company like XOM in a beleaguered industry like integrated E&P, it’s necessary. Large integrateds must do it, but I think the industry needs to go a step further and start doing this at the large independent level. Pioneer already has, it hurt their morale tremendously, but they did it before Covid and came out just fine.
I'm pretty sure exxon has done this forever.

  6. In fact I think it would be smart for large independents to up capex budgets - so long as they can still operate profitably and not through a bullshit EBITDAX metric but through an FCF and net profit metric.

    This is our concern, dude.
  7. Rahm, Xander
    Hideki, Berger
    Spieth, Ancer, Connors
As a flyer, Higgo has been on an incredibly quick climb up the OWGR, obviously helped by winning last week. He's an interesting play.
The juxtaposition of these two posts is the first time I can recall seeing this.

  8. Yeah, I never sit next to my wife. We're always across from each other on the aisle. If the kids are with us, one of us takes them for one leg while the other gets to sit alone. Then we reverse it on the way back. Of course, one downside to that is getting someone hefty next to you in that middle seat.
In fact you purchased the ticket for Mrs. mdmost.

Doesn't mean I want her sitting next to me does it?

  9. What's the sport fishing like out of southern california?  I assume you don't have to run far, but is the fishing any count?  I am going to be out there for work quite a bit the next two years and would like to get some fishing in.  I will be in Orange County.
I go offshore in the gulf pretty frequent, but not like you do.  I have friends with a 38 foot cat hull center console they keep in storage in Freeport.  We leave at night and slow steam out to save fuel while taking turns sleeping on the bean bags.  We usually run 120 or so miles out to the floaters or go to Flower Gardens.  We always catch a lot of fish as we only go when conditions are good.  But man it would be nice to not have to run far offshore.  First time I ever fished offshore not in the Gulf was Kona.  And I think we may have gone out 5 miles at most.
Depends what you are looking to target. I know the yellowfin have been making their way up to Southern California waters in recent years.
  10. One of my favorite scenes is when Sam arrives at school with his new feathered hair and powder blue disco jumpsuit thinking he’s the shit. The transition in his emotions as he walks down the hall and realizes everyone is laughing AT him is classic. If you can’t relate to that experience, you never went to high school with a new outfit or haircut. Brutal and hilarious in a simple and relatable depiction of HS life. That’s the epitome of F&G.
    It's not a jumpsuit it's a Parisian night suit.

  11. Yup, Carl.  About the most unlikely PhD in UT engineering history.  We started our masters degrees at the same time.  He went . . . farther.
Carl and Dr. Joe Beaman (the smartest man I've ever met):

Is that one of the first sls machines?
