So, what, Weaver should come into the game within the 1st minute of the game. It has nothing to do with stanning and everything to do with your stupidity.

Weaver clearly puts a lot of pressure on himself to be high energy and a difference maker. I think coming off the bench suits him better right now. As he gets more experience at this level I think he will get the confidence to start.
Repeating: Even if Chendall doesn't start, he shouldn't be spending the first six minutes of a tournament game on the bench.
It was poor management by Terry. This is a pretty gentle criticism of him, all things considered. Y'all don't need to be stanning for him over this.

Weaver started for 6 conference games, and the team went 3-3 and he averaged 8.6 PPG on a .545 TS% and a .514 eFG%.
Maybe, the team is better with Weaver coming off the bench.
In the 6 games since returning to the bench, the team is 4-2 and he's averaging 9.3 PPG on a .650 TS% and a .600 eFG%. In those 2 losses, he averaged 2.5 PPG.
Counter argument: Texas trailed 8-2 last night with Weaver on the bench. Weaver comes on and CSU only scores 3 points over the rest of the half and Texas goes into the break up, 27-11.
Point is, stats can be manipulated any way you want, but it's pretty clear that Weaver is the better player and gives the team more than Horton. Even if Chendall doesn't start, he shouldn't be spending the first six minutes of a tournament game on the bench.

He was the X-factor last night. Brock also made a major contribution in a short amount of time, imo, but Weaver did more and for longer. Suspect Texas loses last night if Weaver doesn't show out like he did.

You're probably right--for whatever reason, Gergg is bulletproof. But as a fan, I was striving to find a silver lining to what would have otherwise been an embarrassing defeat.

Only thing I'd criticize Terry over last night was starting Horton over Weaver. Horton has earned his place, but he's a situational player, not a starter. He's a streaky shooter and a decent rebounder. Defensively, he's a liability. Weaver does more overall.
The moment Chendall hit the court, he ended a several-minute scoring drought and provided a defensive boost. It's frustrating because Terry's had all season to figure it out but still has a blind spot for Horton (although he did give Weaver more minutes).

Super frustrated at the game's start when Horton gave up a couple of easy buckets and bricked his chances on the opposite end. Not trying to pick on the guy; just think there's plenty of data to suggest who should be starting in his stead.
Speaking of whom, I believe Weaver contributed Texas' second bucket of the game and woke the team up from its funk and got the offense rolling. And, oh, yeah, helped limit CSU to 3 more points the entire rest of the half.

Gotta admit--in the waning seconds of the match, just before the accidental equalizer, I found myself resigned to a loss but hoping for a silver lining, i.e., this embarrassing result would finally motivate USSF to dump Gergg and get a real coach.
So when the tying goal found the back of the net in bonus stoppage time, I was simultaneously elated and disappointed.

See you this summer. I can cut trails.
Hah
Cut trail is exactly what you'd have to do if you went there during summer because the stinging nettle and Scotch thistle are rampant. Getting in and out this time of year is much easier, but the ever-present willow and large basaltic boulders make it an all-season challenge.
Anytime between June and October, you're taking a machete ... and wearing jeans and long-sleeves for the hike in.

I've got no ill feelings towards Barnes. Someday hopefully he gets a statue at Moody. But he has nobody to blame but himself for losing his fastball while at Texas.
To his credit, don't think Barnes ever did blame anyone but himself. Wouldn't even use his assistants as fall guys.

Spent the day on one of my favorite springtime fisheries. Started slow. Most springs, they'll take anything you toss their way, at least for a little while, but they were extra finicky today.
First fish was my best--a shockingly gorgeous fine-spotted cutt that had no business being there. Crushed a white polar minnow. I'd never seen so much bronze when he flashed.
Close up. Wish I'd had a buddy with me to take better pictures. This guy was toothy af.
Only caught a couple more on streamers, including a nice hen. But the water was boiling with rises and I tried dozens of dry patterns in hopes of a match.
Finally hit paydirt with an elk hair caddis. It wasn't an exact match (I still got refused 90 percent of the time), but it stirred up enough interest to make it fun, just not heaven.Took a lot of bouldering and bushwhacking to get to this spot. I was beat Caught about a dozen and left early. Getting old.

Who was it that threw Tony Bennett’s name around as a potential coach here?
It wasn’t me.
No sir. It wasn’t.
Good God what a fraudI was one, as well. Back during the late Shaka. Thought we might've had a chance to woo him after the 2018 disaster (the first 1 seed to ever lose an NCAA opener), but then he went and won it all the next year.

CSU is going to pound the rock inside. The seem shorter but also stockier. Key for our 'Horns is going to be staying out of foul trouble. Need Disu, Shedrick, Cunningham and possibly Onyema to play smart and pick their spots.

21 points after 27 minutes of in-game time.
Hate to see a great coach--and Bennett obviously is/was--fall on hard times like that. WTF is he doing? -
First Kirk Hebenstreit, and now Hermann Gehring.

CSU forwards seem kinda chonky but are getting lots of good, point-blank looks.
Both these teams could shoot 30 percent tonight and brick every shot from BTA ... and then hit 60 percent against us. Just how it goes.
-
Pretty obvious foul on CSU's second possession--first defender was all over the offensive player, but instead of embellishing the contact, the offensive player waited for the defender to roll off him, which gave another defender time to adjust and block his shot.

Regarding the minutes, Abmas and Hunter did play 35+ minutes last night. If Disu can avoid foul trouble, he will, too. It's pretty standard policy during the tournament.
Agree with the rest. I don't hate Horton. But he wasn't giving Texas much last night on either end of the court aside from rebounds.
