South Africa officially has a “neutral” stance on Russia’s genocide in Ukraine. They are clowns

Since the US wouldn’t (couldn’t) do it, someone had to

This is the same as when politicians bust out the brand new carthartts and wranglers for campaign commercials.

No shit, carhart is now part of “the uniform”, as well as a lot of folks just copying TV.   Weird.   Missed that investment opportunity.

  3. Vacation house, maybe, as this thread shows.  Seasonal second place, too much damn work rigging each place up or down twice a year.  And worries about security.  And very costly, that after furniture, upgrades, etc.

My 2000 Taylor 310 has sapele ("mahogany") back and sides and a spruce top.  I still love it.  On the bright side, as all Taylors are, but a good clear low end without being boomy.

Also, no money wasted on decorative bullshit.

Still loving the 714ce.  Makes me sound ok

I suppose grad schools have gotten ultra competitive, too, but 3.2 is a pretty solid engineering GPA at a rigorous school like GT.  Or is it?

Back in the day, that'd get you hired most places out of UT.

And, I could easily see it being one of those situations where he did well on upper-division, research-related courses.  For whatever reason, I didn't start busting 4.0s until upper division, employers seemed to like that and didn't give a rats ass about my C in engineering mechanics or fluids.

I was recruited to grad at UT, with an undergrad of 3.4.  Turned them down for that sweet $1400/mo salary (76)

As someone who worked two stints in Seattle, this is bullshit.  Houston does get more rainfall (with about 1/4 of the actual rain days).

Its not even the rain up there.  Every day is some mixture of gloomy, foggy, overcast, and still wet from the day before.  The sun peeking out for an hour and half is not a clear and sunny day.  It's definitely depression-inducing weather.

Houston is hot and muggy as hell between it's week-long storms so this is real battle of midgets.

Perspective can be subjective.   I’ve been here 12 years.  Don’t know how many stints that is equivalent to.  Beyond the weather, which is fine for me, I’m here for the beauty that hits me in the face every day.
