Yeah, it is exhausting, but there are times where you can find a better word and should either because of the etymology or because, well like referring to the Irish as bog jumpers - I get tired of explaining why they jump over/through bogs. It's fallen so far out of usage, there's no point in using it.
I had relatives who had a neighbor who used the n-word a lot, and he used it when referring to something being quickly assembled or that was a temporary fix, basically saying it was "n-rigged". I always used jerry-rigged (and thought it was related to jerry cans (gas cans) and that it was some kind of WWII slang brought back), but years later, I kind of began wondering about it, and it turns out that what a lot of people mean is jury-rigged, both of which have nautical origins (jury = makeshift/temporary, rig = rigging) but then jerry can also be used, basically using materials at hand for a temporary fix and not necessarily the proper materials. Jury-rigged goes back centuries. I kind of wonder if, because I was hearing it in the South, the drawl was fucking it up and I was hearing jerry instead of jury.
https://www.dictionary.com/e/jury-rigged-vs-jerry-rigged/
With that said, of course people substituted a racial slur in. I'm not sure where I was going with that, other than I'm glad it was actually a nautical term that dates back centuries.
I definitely heard Jerry growing up.

If we were a decent people there’d be an angry mob dragging Paxton out of his house right now and giving him the ol’ Gaddafi.
You know, I can hardly believe that this just wouldn’t cause outrage amongst all good people, but no one will notice and we inch a step closer to theocracy or something just as bad. I guess it’s true that the revolution won’t be televised.

So only the top 3% of givers got tickets?

Next time I go to Houston I'm tracking down that motherfuckers grave. I can't punch him in the face, but I can sure as hell piss on his headstone.
Nope, I was in band in junior high. My band director gives us the Aggy War Hymn and has us marching around like Aggy. I protested and he's like, "This is the only Texas college that has simple enough music and marching that junior high kids just learning to play can do it." Looking at it objectively, they are lying when they say it's hard. Now, from their point of view, maybe they are dumb enough that it is hard for them, but it ain't hard.
Same explanation at my junior high in 1980.

i’ve posted this here once before, and only once, and for good reason. but ima go ahead and post it one more time, because i straight up don’t like shaka and because i’ve seen enough evidence to at believe that this is at least plausible, if not probable:
i’ve heard from a good source- and a look at his recruiting classes and minutes distribution could support this- that shaka doesn’t like/essentially resents white people, and avoids recruiting white players whenever he can. obviously this is conjecture; obviously this is a fairly serious accusation as far as personal character goes; that said, the people i’ve spoken to make a pretty compelling case, and frankly, so does the LHN tape from his time here. plenty of video of him hanging out with the black players and damn near tucking their grown asses into bed; literally zero video of him hanging out with the white guys. then you have will baker as the only white player he recruited while at texas, a five star from his own backyard. im just saying- it’s at minimum plausible.
again, this is conjecture. i guess my main point would be that 99% of successful college basketball coaches are slime balls, and the rush to crown shaka as this exemplary human being really really REALLY irks me based on factual shit that i’ve posted here several times, along with this anti-white people conjecture which appears to be totally plausible. i’m not imploring you to hate the guy- but i am imploring people to stop sanctifying this guy when he’s as morally ambiguous as the next cbb coach.
Yeah, maybe I don’t understand the context of why you would say this but it’s a pretty serious thing to just throw out on a message board. His alleged hatred apparently did not extend to Augie who I know for a fact really liked Shaka and considered him a friend. He even was a requested speaker at his funeral. I kind of find what you are saying a bit much but I’d suggest just leaving it at he was not that great of a coach while he was here.

We are getting about what I expected from RT and Haith. He’s not going anywhere for at least two more years so there’s no point bitching about it.

He's a big fucking issue. He gets big minutes and can't score, defend, or protect the ball.
Oh, I agree. I just think the fish rots from the head.

I'd bench Hunter to start the next game. Nobody as bad as him deserves to start 82 straight.
He’s the least of our issues.

Some of these shots from DEEP the guards are taking should get them benched.
It’s been going on all season.

I thought Hunter was playing great on both ends at the end of the year; but night and day from this year. This is the guy who was freshman of the year at Iowa State… what happened?
I don’t think he and Abmas are a good fit.

Dribble drive hand off is the worst man offense on the planet and of course we run it. The main thing about RT I was worried about wasn’t recruiting but this right here. His offense is horrible. Not much you can do about a kid catching fire like kolek, but that’s the difference in kolek and abmas, one is a streaky chucker and the other is a basketball scorer that can shoot the rock.
I thought Haith was the offensive guru?
-
I guess we will see how this ages but I’m not real optimistic about Haith’s offense.

I thought TexAgs told me that the Big 12 didn’t play real defense. Now they are touting a Big 12 OC who apparently rang up moderate success against those same shitty defenses? My head hurts.

That Gardere-to-Walker pass in 1989 happened right in front of me. The place went nuts. I was in the first few rows, around the goal line. I also vividly recall looking straight downfield as OU ran toward us in the first half and their stud RB Mike Gaddis blew out his knee. It was brutal. Probably made the difference in the game.
I rushed the field at the end of that one.

I don’t know how some of those olds on the committee can stay awake through this.

Try being ecstatic when Texas ekes out a win over Pitt in the 1987 Bluebonnet Bowl. I was skiing in Mammoth and I partied my ass off that night.
What’s worse is I actually went.

Was the Colorado loss the one where Bill Cunningham was quoted in the paper as saying how great it was that we kept it close?

That whole institution is formed around an identity of an inferiority complex - and specifically, having to artificially pump themselves up as being superior in every possible way to convince themselves that they are not inferior. It's mass psychosis - and not to mention, utterly pathetic. I actually work with a few aggy engineers who are firmly in the 2% crowd, and they're fine. It's the redass dipshits that give me a headache.
This is the bottom line.

Louisville could pull it off, though, so we've got a shot still.A year ago I couldn't imagine being pissed and disappointed in the Longhorns being banished to a NY6 bowl, yet here we are. I guess this is the last year NY6 has at least a little bit of prestige over the other bowls..so there's that I guess.
Don’t you think most of our best players who are either seniors or leaving for the draft will skip the bowl since it’s not in the playoff? Ewers will be throwing to Jerry Jones’ grandson.

One loss season, getting snubbed in the championship game selection, and then going on to win a major bowl game would be 2008 all over again. I’d take that.
Yeah, but all of the best players sitting it out makes that major bowl game irrelevant.
