  1. a pic was posted in the game thread last week by someone who was there. The flags are indeed gone.
  2. No. Even if this is somehow a bad Alabama team, the win is still entirely different. We needed two overtimes to barely beat a bad Notre Dame team at home by a margin of inches that year. That is not at all how this victory went. Texas needed only 3 quarters and 15 seconds to beat the shit out of Alabama on the road. No matter the opponents record, entirely different quality of wins.
  3. Students stayed up till nearly 3 am to wait for Texas to return to Austin: https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/football/2023/09/10/longhorns-celebrate-with-students-after-historic-victory-over-alabama/70817543007/
  4. K-State is the lone Big 12 team ranked outside of Texas and OU. This fucking conference's bitch-ass SOS better not fuck Texas somehow.
  5. None of these fuckwits like Texas. They're chewing glass writing these pieces. They just can't deny the reality of what they witnessed.
  6. The Eyes of Texas are twinkling https://www.si.com/college/tmg/mark-blaudschun/college-football-plus-texas-week-2 "There was nothing fluky about this victory folks. From the start to the finish, UT was the better team and arguably, the better coached, prepared team, which is a vote of confidence Texas coach Steve Sarkasian has not heard very often the past few years."
  7. What Texas beating Alabama says about Longhorns’ prospects in SEC — and CFP https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/texas-longhorns/2023/09/09/what-texas-beating-alabama-says-about-longhorns-prospects-in-sec-and-cfp/ "The stunning 34-24 upset was Texas’ biggest regular-season win since beating No. 4 Ohio State in 2005, a season that ended in a national title."
  8. Finebaum sucked us off on Sport Center this morning. Can't find clips online though, but he literally said "Texas is back."
  9. TEXAS IS READY FOR THE SEC, BUT THE SEC DOESN'T SO TOUGH RIGHT NOW https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/sports/texas-is-ready-for-the-sec-but-the-sec-doesnt-look-so-tough-right-now/3334184/ "Instead of asking whether Texas is ready for the SEC, maybe we should be asking if the SEC is ready for Texas."
  10. TEXAS LITERALLY ROLLS OVER ALABAMA TO SHOW HOGS AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT THE SEC IS NO SURPRISE TO THEM https://www.si.com/college/arkansas/hogs-football/razorbacks-alabama-crimson-tide-texas-longhorns-sec-sam-pittman "Texas showed it's well aware what coming to SEC means"
  11. Enjoy the fuck out of this. First one up: With masterful closing moments at Alabama, Texas finds a fresh peak https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/09/09/texas-beats-alabama/ "TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Texas, first down at the its 30-yard line, 7:14 left, Texas ahead 34-24, C.J. Baxter runs left, three yards . . . Texas couldn’t really run out all this clock here on Alabama’s home field, could it?"
  12. They weren't perfect, but good fucking god the SEC refs last night were so much better than any reffing I've ever seen out of the Big 12. There is no fucking way the Big 12 would have gotten that muffed sneak call right. It was also wild seeing Bama get called for holding against Texas, even if they still missed a ton.
  13. I actually felt like Milroe was the only bright spot on offense for Bama. They basically did not have a functional offense, Texas completely shut them down and they couldn't do anything. Whatever offense they managed came almost exclusively from Milroe making chicken salad. As a pure gamer scrambling QB, he's actually pretty good.
  14. "Huge. The University of Alabama, Nick Saban, Tuscaloosa — changed my life. At a moment of my life when things were not going great, he extended me an olive branch and everybody here was so supportive of me coming here. Then bringing me back a second time to then having had open-heart surgery while I was here. These people here mean a lot to me. I'm very grateful for everybody at Alabama and in Tuscaloosa for what they showed myself, my family, my wife, so to come here and to play them and to play the way that we played, it's humbling. Life kind of goes full circle on that kind of stuff. Not to get overly emotional about it, but it means a lot." Man I love Sark's story so far. I love a flawed person who owns and accepted their failings and moves past it. What a great redemption story so far, seriously inspirational shit.
  15. A bunch of AP rags have put out their polls aready. Texas is between 3-5 in nearly all out so far with a few even having Texas as high as 2, and alabama has been 11 in all I've seen. I'd expect Bama at 11 and Texas at 4 once the actual ap rankings drop.
  16. The best part about wins like this is how much fun everything else becomes. When Colt knocked off OU in 2008, it kickstarted something insanely fun. I'm talking about how *everything* gets better, not just UT football games. Other game suddenly matters more. It becomes fun reading Heisman chatter. Bowl projections become fun. Suddenly everything is interesting and fun again.
  17. The whole team supports itself. My favorite example is when, after 3 quarters of basically stellar defensive play, Bama took the lead, only for the offense to finally ignite and light up Bama. Felt like the offense had the defense's back and vice versa. The pressure wasn't on any single unit or person. Everybody shined.
  18. When I went to school, there were drag rats wanking out in front of einsteins pretty much constantly.
  19. That was legit one of the best throws I've ever seen from UT, ever. Fucking balls of steel on Sark to dial that up, in that spot, and give Ewers that much confidence.
  20. College football really never wanted to see what would happen when Texas started throwing its money around. Goes back to the SWC days. Texas currently has 3 of the biggest NIL deals in college sports on campus. Arch and Xavier Worthy both have $1 million deals, and Quinn had a $900k deal and just signed another huge deal last night after beating Bama. This was exactly what the college football world is terrified of. Texas, surging behind the SEC brand, with the money following in spades. A world where Texas' vast resources directly fuel the football program in tangible ways is something that makes aggys wet the bed at night.
  21. TWO national championships in their inaugural year
