  1. I'm sure I am in the minority, but I think it's just as important for Putin to encircle the entrenched regular Ukrainian army stuck on the border of the breakaway regions and offer no quarter. That would go a long way of accomplishing his goal demilitarizing the Ukraine. Further it would take away a bit chunk of their young male population, I am sure some of the best and brightest, and setting Ukraine back for a generation(s?). I hope like hell I am wrong but I don't see anyway they army will be able to withdraw back to a more reinforceable and suppliable position without getting devastated during the pullback. Here's to hoping the flanks can hold and keep a corridor open to those troops.
  2. Pentagon Wars should told ya.
  3. Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) systems
  4. RPGs aren't considered fire and forget, they are unguided rockets. Would be like saying a rifle is fire and forget, technically yea, once you pull the trigger you can forget about guiding it. Javelins and other ATGMs are fire & forget if the round guides itself to the target after launch vs you having to stay aimed at the target and guide the round yourself, like a TOW.
  5. Checking back in here for Austin landscaper recommendations. I need to fully re-sod the backyard, plus the removal of a lot of river rock and maybe the installation of turf to replace the rock in areas that don't get enough sun for grass. 78704 location.
  6. Of all the armies in the world, the one that should have known how to deal with it, if that's even possible, or not to invade at this time of the year would have been the Russians. Check another fuckup box.
  7. Having read so much about the Rasputitsa, never thought I would get to see it in real time. Fucking nuts.
  8. I've seen several videos like this today. Maybe the convenience store food is just better than their MREs? /Sarcasm
  9. If I was an Indian soldier, I would be begging the government to reconsider that arrangement.
  10. So you are saying Germany needs to send some PaK 40s
  11. https://rusi.org/explore-our-research/publications/commentary/ukraine-through-russias-eyes Here is a good article that helps explain the Russian strategic strategy thus far. In short, the FSB conducted a survey in Ukraine in February: Trust in the office of the president sat at 27%, with 67% distrustful of the presidency. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had poor approval ratings at −34, but a high proportion of Ukrainians polled still professed that they would vote for him over other candidates. The Ukrainian Army, both regular and reserve, was highly trusted, with 68% of the population supportive, as were military veterans, while regional and municipal governments were comparatively well-trusted with over 40% of the population having a favourable opinion of them. However, other institutions enjoyed approval figures that ranged from mediocre to poor, including the police at 28% and domestic security services at 23%. Trust in the Rada – the Ukrainian parliament – and in political parties was abysmal, at 11% and 8% respectively. And when it came to willingness to serve in the military or otherwise resist a foreign invasion, 40% of respondents stated that they would not defend Ukraine.
  12. You make a fair point. Now that I think of it, I haven't seen one report of Russian AWCS up over Belarus or W. Russia. With UAF still getting a few sorties out and drones operating, you think you would see at least a few stories about them. Not to mention just battlefield airspace management.
  13. Yes they would. They may not be able to hit it or we would be using EW to make sure they couldn't get a targeting lock but they would know something was there.
  14. They demonetize them and cut it off in Ukraine.
  15. Allegedly it was an air to air kill to boot. Epic failure if true to let a Ukrainian fighter anywhere near a heavy. Or maybe that Ukrainian pilot is that good. I'll take both.
  16. Also sounds like they are having trouble finding them. Where are all the drones at? And still can't believe how many lights are on in Kyiv.
  17. Your point #2 greatly concerns me as well. A kesselschlacht could well be in the cards with the end game being full Ukrainian "demilitarization." I am somewhat surprised that the Russians haven't taken out the bridges on the Dnieper to force the engagement on the east side. I wish like hell the bulk of the Ukrainian Army could fallback to a western pocket where we could supply them will all the ELINT/etc. and maintainable supply lines but giving up your own homes is tough. That's not to mention moving over that amount of open territory with enemy air superiority, civilians on the roads, and interrupted C&C.
  18. Reds into the northern suburbs. Looks like an ATGM APC? https://twitter.com/nexta_tv/status/1497123672196276229?s=20&t=v2TPsRz_PHW17JqD-LuEUg

  20. And it looked like there could have been flares launched right before impact.
  21. Tecnam P2006T hanging out on the Polish border. Looks to be a Italian ISR but I've never heard of this little guy. Edit: Or could be USAF
