  1. Let's see how the recent commitment from France pans out next year.
  2. Hi UT Tennis Fan, I am writing from Waco, where we are in the final days of our preparation for our NCAA Quarterfinal match vs UCLA (Friday at 7 pm). I know it is a late match, but it is also a big opportunity for this team, and I am writing to make one final push to our fans in Texas to make the effort to come support. Find a hotel room and stick around for the weekend if we make it through. If we manage a win vs UCLA the semis would be Saturday at 7 pm, and the final Sunday at 7 pm. Please consider supporting this special group of Longhorns! Here is a detailed preview of Friday night's showdown with UCLA. Thanks for following our team all season. We appreciate it! Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  3. Is it correct that 9 is the maximum allowed to be on the roster next year? I'm assuming that includes both walk ons and scholarship players.
  4. Sabi is cramping
  5. That was hilarious! Re: J. Smith, I actually won his batting helmet, which is slightly damaged, in an auction and a signed baseball of his. Looks nice in the glass case I bought for them!
  6. Agreed about Jovic. She seems to be doing well enough on tour.
  7. Hi UT Tennis Fan, We had a very good NCAA 2nd round win over Cornell yesterday (Cornell win recap), and our home crowd was treated to excellent tennis and beautiful weather! We are now down to the absolute last home match of the year -- our NCAA Sweet 16 match vs Tennessee on Saturday at 12 pm. We are 1-1 vs Tennessee this year, and both matches were battles! We are planning on packing the TTC with the record breaking crowd that we will need to help us with our effort to break the tie with Tennessee in our favor, and earn a spot in the Elite 8 in Waco the following week! This team has worked and competed hard all year to earn the opportunity to host the first 3 rounds. Now it is time to get behind them and make the TTC a massive home court advantage! If at all possible, please plan on being there, and getting creative to help us fill the stands. Start communicating with your friends now. Even if you live far away, and can't make it, help us recruit your friends who live in Austin! You will be wise to show up early to make sure you get a good seat. Keep in mind that there is a baseball game at 1 pm, so an early arrival could help you beat the parking crunch. Change your plans, get a babysitter, call some friends, and SHOW UP!!! Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  8. Vivian Ovrootsky is in the portal. She's probably graduating this Spring and will continue to participate with the team til the season is over with. I just didn't realize she had any eligibility remaining.
  9. Decommitment from Texas? Is that a correct statement?
  10. Don't forget Taylor Harvey, a top incoming MB freshman, will be on campus in the Fall.
  11. Off topic, how is it that there is no UT night at the Rangers this year? Is it forthcoming?
  12. How's Lowe doing this year? Is Burger a downgrade?
  13. Hi UT Tennis Fan, I hope your week is off to a great start! The NCAA draw and schedule were released yesterday, and as expected we will be hosting the first two rounds, beginning with a 1st round matchup vs Montana on Saturday at 1 pm at the Texas Tennis Center. If we were to get through Montana, we would take on the winner of Cornell and Michigan at 1 pm on Sunday. And if we manage to win that match we would also host the round of 16 one week later. If we were to fight our way through that round, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final would be in Waco on Friday-Sunday, May 16-18. We obviously have a lot of work to do before we can really think about Waco, but I wanted to plant that seed in case you are able to be in Waco to support us. Given that the final 3 rounds are only a 1.5 hour drive from Austin, we will be counting on our Longhorn faithful to show up and make a difference if we make it to Waco. In the coming days, I will pass on some information on hotels that have availability and a cancellation policy that will allow you to drop your reservation if we don't make it to Waco. But other than passing this information along, you can rest assured that our focus will be squarely on Saturday's match vs Montana. For all the details on our NCAA draw, please click on this press release. Have a great week everyone, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  14. Hi UT Tennis Fan, I hope your weekend is off to a good start! Our team will be practicing tomorrow morning, and then will enjoy the first weekend off from competition since the weekend of January 4! That's a lot of tennis! Our move to the SEC just did not leave us much flexibility in our schedule at all. We have had our fair share of injuries, but I give a lot of credit to our 9 players for their toughness and consistency this year. To brag on their season a bit, we will enter the NCAA tournament (which starts on Saturday, May 3 at the Texas Tennis Center) with a record of 25-4, the #3 ranking in the country, and both the SEC regular season and SEC tournament championships. We also have the #1 ranked player in the country, as Timo Legout became the 3rd Longhorn to reach the #1 spot in the last two seasons (4th player if you count Sebastian Gorzny who was #1 in the unpublished rankings in the Fall). Timo, Sebastian, and Pierre-Yves Bailly were all named to the SEC First Team, while Timo was named both the SEC Freshman of the Year and the SEC Player of the Year. Our team was also honored as the most outstanding in the conference with the Coach of the Year award. For a full summary of these honors, please click on this press release. The NCAA draw and schedule will be released on Monday, and I will be back in touch then with all the details. I can tell you now, though, that we are 100% expecting to be the host site for the first 3 rounds, with the first two rounds being on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4. If we are able to find our way through those matches, the round of 16 match would also be at the Texas Tennis Center on Saturday, May 10. Of course, nothing is guaranteed and we will have to earn our way through tough opponents each round, but if we manage to do that, the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will be in Waco on May 16, 17, and 18. I am telling you this now, just so you can carve out those dates on your calendar. If we manage to make it to Waco we will be calling on all Longhorns to give us a home state advantage! I'll be back in touch on Monday or Tuesday with the specifics of our NCAA draw. Have a great weekend, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  15. https://x.com/CTennisNation/status/1915205224349696054 Off topic, I noticed he started to follow Jonah and had been following Oliver and the Texas Men's Instagram page. Does the team have any room to pick up transfers?
  16. Same. No issues with Victory and the Stars play there, as well! Go Stars!
  17. Our Longhorns came to play today, and the team was all about business in claiming a 4-1 win over South Carolina and an SEC tournament championship to go along with the regular season championship. Sebastian Gorzny and Timo Legout were named to the All Tournament Team, and Timo was named the tournament's MVP! Here is the full recap, which includes a video of Jonah Braswell's match point video clip! The NCAA tournament will begin in two weeks, and we will be back in touch with more detail after the selection show, which is on April 28. Until next time, Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  18. Is it just a conference tournament in Beach with no regular season?
  19. Was the team in a Conference this year? I believe they'll be in one next year.
  20. Hi UT Tennis Fan, Happy Easter (if you celebrate), and greetings from Columbia, South Carolina, where we will be playing against host South Carolina today at 4 pm (eastern time) in the SEC Tournament Championship match. Our path to the final has not been easy, but as they typically do, our guys rallied together despite being a bit shorthanded, and pulled out wins over Auburn (recap) and Tennessee (recap). Yesterday, Timo Legout clinched the overall dual match by rallying from down a set and 5-3, match point in the 2nd set to win 6-3 in the 3rd set. On Friday, Sebastian Gorzny provided the clinch, taking down an opponent who had beaten him the last time we played Auburn. Before Friday's semifinal match, Pierre-Yves Bailly was honored as SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year. Pierre has had a remarkable senior year, both on the court and in the classroom as a 3.9 GPA economics major. Here is the full story on Pierre's honor. Finally, congratulations to 2024 graduate, and 2022 NCAA doubles champion Cleeve Harper for cracking the ATP top 100 in doubles. Cleeve won the Tallahassee Challenger yesterday, and will move to #97 in the live rankings next week! Today's SEC Tournament Championship match will begin at 4 pm eastern (3 pm central time), and will be broadcast live on the SEC Network. I will circle back with you soon with a recap and a look ahead to the NCAA Championship which will begin in two weeks. Have a great day, and Hook'em! Sincerely, Bruce Berque
  21. Drove from New Braunfels to Grapevine and saw quite a few Dodgers fans at Buccee's. Sucks to be them!
  22. Not looking good against Tennessee, again.
