  1. Again, 35% is NOT fair and reasonable for a job any basic day laborer can manage.  I doubt a judge is going to award a contractor a 2-3 x judgement the going rate for a job that is he said she said. I could be wrong there are dumb ass judges out there though.

Pay what you think is fair. It was just a suggestion to get rid of the guy.

  2.
I've already been given the max by the builder (that they don't even do anymore and I was one of the last in the country to get this offer) to spend at the design center, and they threw in the double oven, range, and dishwasher for free.
they'd laugh in my face if i asked them to throw in a fridge.
    (but I asked anyway)

Nothing is free! Those design centers are high profit margin centers for the builders. Find out which appliances package you selected and go to one of the big box stores and order the fridge that matches.
  3. Whirlpool and GE make good products. But as with anything you can have isolated issues. I have installed quite a few GE & Whirlpool products without many issues. You just have to decide which price point you want.

    GE —> Profile —> Monogram

    Whirlpool —> Kitchenaid

    Bosch —> Thermador —> Gaggenau

  4. Building a new house.   The major appliances I’m tasked with getting on my own are:
    - fridge
    - washer/dryer

I think I’ve narrowed all 3 down to either LG or Samsung, but I wanted to get some feedback on the thoughts of both of those brands for these appliances.
Should I be doing a “not so fast my friend” on Whirlpool and GE?

What brand appliances are you getting for your cooktop, oven, microwave and dishwasher? Why not have your builder add the fridge so everything matches?
  5. Had some time for a few drinks this afternoon. Started off with Old Forester Single Barrel. Moved on to Michter’s Small Batch. Capped off the evening with Michter’s 10yr Rye. The 10 yr Rye is amazing!

  6. Grailey's in Dallas is a great place to purchase wine with age. Provenance of the wines has always been perfect in my dealings with them over the years.

Grailey’s is a great place. Also check out Roots and Water Wine Room.
  7. California has slowly started pricing itself out of the market. It’s ridiculous what most charge for decent juice on release.

I prefer most of my wine with some age. I go to the secondary market for these bottles since I just started collecting the past few years.

  8. How long are you going to be gone? Plenty of space in the garage across the street from the terminal. I don't know much about the long-term options. I live about 5 mins away and simply Uber back-and-forth these days.

Just gone for a few days.
  9. Jesus wine has gotten expensive.

My bank account agrees. There are some great QPR wines. You either have to be at the right place at the right time or just pure luck. It has turned into a rich man’s hobby!

Not sure if wine or bourbon/whiskey has gotten to the point of no return.
