Pension can be taken at the earliest at age 55 and is dependent upon earnings. I worked with a former NFL player who if he took the pension at 55 it would have been about $77k/year. If he waited until 65, it would have been around $250k/year.
Fair enough. It just seems like the original comment implied that he's currently getting a pension so he should be able to afford his healthcare. That isn't the case.

I think it's only available for 5 years after retirement for vested players, which Melton was. Vesting takes 3 years and he played 6, but he does get a pension as well as his earnings.
Pension doesn't kick in until age 55, and then it's like $40k per year.

FYI. You can buy MLS Season Pass as low as $15 on eBay. People are selling the codes they received. Just make sure seller has good reviews.
Thanks for the tip. Just paid $21.50. Activation successful.

Aren't MMR vaccines for life? Or are we finding out we may need boosters now that the dumbfucks are making measles relevant again?

Here you go. In addition, the European Medicines Agency accepted IBRX’s application of Anktiva for the treatment of patients with bladder cancer. This application covers 30 countries in the EU. Now, just waiting on approval. Big Pharma (looking at you, Merck) will most def try to buy IBRX at a hefty premium. Patrick Soon-Shiong, who owns 80% of IBRX, is 72 years old and ain’t getting any younger. Hit him with an uber aggressive offer and he might just bite. PSS also has the track record of building up a company and selling to big Pharma for big bucks.
Let hope that aggressive offer comes after it is back in double digits and not at $4.

I get your premise, and the quality of play in the womens game has improved, but the uphill battle for women's basketball that UFC didnt have to compete with is there is direct competition in the same sport. People who want to watch basketball have mens college and pro to choose from, multiple games every day, and the quality of play is superior to the women's version.
You could argue UFC had completion from boxing, but 1) those are different sports, and 2) boxing is not ubitiquous like basketball. The casual fan would watch 3 nights of fights per year, at most.

Trinidad isn't there yet. But looks like it may start reaching more of it's potential in the coming years.

I might be the only one that loves that route. Now Ft Worth to Amarillo is a drag, but once I reach Amarillo then I'm having a good time.
Just north of Amarillo you have some wonderful views with those canyons and it certainly looks nothing like Central Texas. The Dalhart to Clayton portion is the excitement of leaving Texas and seeing who can spot the first antelope. Clayton to Capulin is looking for the first signs of the Rockies, plus the volcano is actually a fun stop. Capulin to Raton is basically a victory lap watching the temperature drop and the terrain getting better and better.
We're summer Colorado people though so maybe that's what makes it more enjoyable to us.
Fuckin' A this. I look forward to the Amarillo to Crested Butte stretch every summer. Getting to Amarillo sucks, though.
The one town we've been driving through for 20 years that I never understood is Trinidad. It always struck me as a town that has a lot of potential, but the population has been between 9-10k for the past 60 years. It sits at the base of a really cool mountain. From the highway it looks like it should have a historic downtown with breweries, restaurants, an art district, etc. It has fairly mild winters by Colorado mountain standards and hot summer days/cool summer nights. Access to fishing. I never understood why it wasn't more of an outdoors destination town. Then I found out that much of the land around Fisher's Peak was privately owned. That changed in 2019 apparently.
May need to start looking at property.

and now UUUU dips below $5. Time to buy and make a little money in 3 months when it inevitably goes above $6.

Sold mine this morning. Thanks for the tip. Made close to $20k.

Here are some pics of the house we rent. There is a dumb waiter that allows you to send dishes back and forth between the kitchens. Simple things like that entertain me.
Much like the Oxford comma, spaces can really change the interpretation of a sentence.
Dude is out there just making a living, and fucking tourists are calling him dumb.

Kenny Rodgers at Rodeo Austin was horrific and sad. Kenny could barely sing or stand. He rolled out to the stage in a golf cart. He brought up other performers to sing his songs. To top it off, he yelled at the crowd for not knowing the words to "Just Dropped in".
I told the Mrs. that we needed to do a little more research before we agree to go to any concert, particularly one for an aging former star.
I was at that show, and that is my answer to the "worst concert question". Holy Christ that was awful. Your description doesn't scratch the surface of how bad it was. Kenny had one foot in the grave.
We saw Tanya Tucker one of the years before that and she was ok. She could still sing and her voice sounded roughly the same. I feel like we went to another one of the "nostalgia" concerts at Rodeo Austin another year but cant remember which one. Kenny was the last.

I've long been of the opinion that "Shook me all night long" is the greatest rock song ever recorded. It's probably only around #5 of my favorite AC/DC songs, but in terms of greatest, it checks all the boxes better than others.
Great guitar intro
Memorable chorus that's easy to sing to
Good solo
Tight 3 1/2 min length
Lyrics fit "rock and roll".
It gets in, rocks your face off, then gets out.

Need to get him to the Stonks thread so he can invest in some slow movers. I think we could put together a top 10...errr top 50 list pretty easily.

I've never done the dried chile thing. Is there a downside to cutting the stems off, grinding them, and adding to the pot vs the rehydrate method?

UUUU back down to around $5. Time to buy and set sell price of $6.50.
That thing is a rollercoaster between ~$5 and ~$7. You can buy/sell 2-3 times a years just playing between those levels.

Henry Melton not doing so well

About a decade ago a neighbor was suffering from a very rare form of cancer, to the point that experimental treatment was the best path forward.
I don't remember if GoFundMe was a thing back then, but there was an effort spearheaded by family friends to cover the expensive treatment that wasn't covered by insurance, travel to/from a different city, hotel costs, etc. I live in a nice neighborhood, but the estimated $100k is a big bogey for most people. I didn't feel bad giving $1k towards the effort.
Then 2 weeks later landscape guys show up with about dozen trees and shrubs to improve the landscaping in the front yard, and a new $50k+ SUV appears in the driveway.
So, yes, I agree just because a GoFundMe was a started, you have no idea if they actually need it.
