Odd, came here to post something similar. UT ticket office says that all single game tickets are sold out and to try StubHub. StubHub wants obnoxious prices for tonight's game.

Are games that popular right now? I figured it would be a half-empty arena give the time of year and opponent. It can't seriously cost $200+ to get some seats to watch ULaLa can it?

We've made other plans.  I'm not going down there just to be turned around because I need to pay $60 per ticket for a shitty weeknight game over the holidays.

If you end up going, please report back what the scalping situation looks like.

  2. What are the odds I could find 3 seats together for a reasonable price down at the arena before the game?

I have a family of 5, and we could split up 2 and 3 if needed.

Someone is selling a pair in the For Sale forum, so if I bought those I still need 3 together.

Cheapest I could find on StubHub is $82 per ticket for 3 together. That's a little steep for a mid week game against a directional Lousiana school.

As a long haired philosophy major working as a NP Ranger, I expect he was somewhat in a minority in Carlsbad.  Probably slays the chicks around the Park though.

This made me LOL.  I think it's  because 95% of Surly would have made a similar observation

    Catching up on this thread.
Chester’s funeral was the only funeral where Al couldn’t hear part of the eulogies because the audience was digging around in the ice chests and popping beers.  Chester was a good guy.

Chester always had time to sit with customers and tell a dirty joke or three.  I spent more nights there than I'd like to admit between 1997-2001. One of my best friends was a waitress there and, by extension, I was friends with every waitress.  I think every girl in that group of friends waited tables on occasion because it was a good, but hard earned, $100-$120 per night in tips. And free fried mushrooms for me.

I lived with my cousin at the time, and one time we were there, and the Back Page Austin Chronicle hooker he ordered the night before was there with a guy. We both recognized her immediately and she shot us the "don't say a fucking word" look immediately.  Always wondered if she had a boyfriend or husband and the guy had no idea.

Took my dad there one time he came into town shortly after I turned 21.  We walked in, and all the waitresses rushed to give me a hug and brought us a bucket of Miller Lite without me asking, which was my standard at the time.

Dad: "How are your grades this semester?"

Me: "Well, I'm learning a lot."

    Dad: "I can imagine."

I don’t even like anchovies but that looks awesome.

If you've never had boquerones, don't think of them as anchovies as you probably know.  They aren't heavily salted and don't have an extreme fish taste.

    It's a completely different experience.

For a snack I picked up some boqueros (Spanish unsalted anchovies). Quick fry with some lemon and salt.

Very tasty. Need to dial in the prep. They are also great fresh with oil and lemon on bread.

    Get comfy, fellas.

Hello, gents. Hope you’ve arrived well dressed and comfortable.

And now, a sprinkle of salt, a squeeze of lemon, and you fuckers are mine!

Where did you get the boquerones?

I fucking love those with just some olive oil and a touch of salt.

So jealous of the cheap ass birds in the US. well,  cheap food in general. ~ 12 lb bird down here fresh = $100. 😐

    $100 AUD or USD?

Also, the cheap birds in the US are garbage.  Bread to get as fat as possible, as quickly as possible, with as much white meat as possible. Thus they are tasteless. And injected with a solution and then frozen.  If that's what you're paying $100, AUD or USD, I'd switch to something else. Kangaroo burgers anyone?

Rarely do you get a chance to look into to a crystal ball, but here we are.  Wiler77 in year 2042.  That must be my littlest's wedding. It'll be "Whole Lotta Rosie" for the middle boy.

There is a book series called "Henry and Mudge" about a boy and his adventures with his dog.  They are really great for early readers.

    Anyway, you own Mudge

The now defunct PO’s Burgers was off Telge Rd in Cypress and had a burger called the Mother Trucker.   It was a double-double with a half-link of sausage on top and you, fine sir, have a fine replica of one of those gut busters.  Have all my rep.

Well this makes me sad. Had many a baseball/basketball/soccer team party at PO's. Granted this was 35 years ago, but I guess I assumed it would be around forever. My sister lives close to it now, and I thought as of 5 years ago it was still around. Did it close recently?

Baseball - schedule won't be announced for another month or two, but baseball in Japan is an experience

Big "hell yes" to this one. I went to a game in Tokyo that was the team that doesn't play in the Tokyo Dome.  Was an outdoor stadium the size of a minor league park, which is to say there wasn't a bad seat in the house. And the stadium food was insanely good.

Went to a craft beer place afterwards for beer and snacks, which in Tokyo is like having a 5 star food experience.

Insane. Me betting on TCU and the money line would insure a Texas victory.

What is that betting app where I can bet a grand and if I lose it I don’t have to pay it?

I put $30 on KSt +2.5.  Paying $30 for the Texas win was worth it.

May have to up this week to $50 on TCU +6.5.  Texas beating them by a TD would be worth it.

  13. When you say grandparents are backup, do you mean they're traveling with you?  If so, whats the point?

They will be more comfortable at their own house, you and your wife will be able to disconnect, and everyone will be happier.  Oh, and someone doesn't have to shell out money for airfare and hotel for what amounts to babysitters.
