2 hours ago, Captain Ron said:First - Turner has only missed 2 1/2 months, not 4, due to injury.
Second - He's played just over a month since his return. So he's had some time to get back into form. It's not like last night was his first game out there.
Finally - He didn't come back to be an instant shot stopper. He's given up 7 goals against an xG of 4.9 in 5 games. He had some rust.
Make no mistake, I am not at all advocating for Steffen, because I don't think he is the guy.
But I do worry bout Turner staying in form to be our number 1. Right now, I think at best he is going to see 7 games (6 Europa + 1 EFL) in the fall for Arsenal. I think he will likely play really well in those games because he's going to have an EPL level defense in front of him. But will it be enough to keep him in form as our #1?
But this is why Sean Johnson was being talked about last night, because he's going to be playing. So we will see...
They're all just keeping Slonina's seat warm.

If anyone is interested, there will be a watch auction coming up to support relief efforts in the Ukraine. Specifically, they will be donating money to Jose Andres World Central Kitchen. He's actually in Ukraine cooking food for families fleeing their homes. https://wck.org/. The auction is being put together by Revolution Magazine and Adam Craniotes (started RedBar for you watch nerds).
Anyways, if anyone is interested in either donating a watch or in the auction itself, message me and I'll keep you in the loop as this comes together.
What kind of timepieces are they expecting in this auction? I have a couple I could probably send in if I can write it off on my taxes.

I had been thinking about a quick tune up check but haven't contacted Omega. Good info, thanks.
Which DSOTM do you have and is it running slow? I have had the Vintage Black model for 3 years now.
I have the DSTOM black, black. Haven't had any issues with it that weren't self caused.
1 hour ago, HoustonHorn said:I'm not sure this is necessarily Covid, but another way that Omega and other brands are moving to change their distribution and managing inventory. If people have to send their watches in, they can check to see if its the original owner, where it was sold, etc. and all the stuff that Rolex does when you send it in for service. Maybe I'm wrong, that is speculation on my part.
I will say Covid is the perfect excuse for these shifts. I think they were planning this stuff all along, and now get to blame Covid instead of getting blamed themselves.
This makes a ton of sense. Almost makes buying on the secondary market a little more harrowing though.

This is why I was trying to go through a local omega certified watchmaker. The idea of mailing off a $12k watch and just waiting on it gives me anxiety just thinking about it.
-
As note for all the speedy pron happening - getting them serviced right now without sending them it Omega is a bitch. Omega didn't re-certify a lot of the independent watchmakers because of covid and it has been a royal pain in the ass trying to find one that can service my DSOTM.
Looks like I'm going to have to send it to Omega.

That’s where I get most of my cars (not watches). Those thieves are lucky because Perillo and Abbas’ guys wouldn’t hesitate to shoot, in most cases.
Also watches are going completely through the roof. Anytime my AD calls I’m saying yes to everything. I’ll figure out the rest later.
The biggest surprise with something I got that I didn’t specifically order, but said yes to, was definitely the James Cameron. It’s a fucking tank but feels great on the wrist and the engineering that goes into a piece like that is just all kinds of badass.
I was super lucky on the overseas. To the point I'm considering just flipping the thing.
I've been looking at the JC's and was wondering if they fit like the YMII. I have a couple of IWC's that are on the larger side and didn't know if the JC fit the same way.

"The thieves made out with 7-8 watches worth over $1mm."
One would think that those types of watches at that price point would be pretty easy to track down on secondary markets. Good luck offloading them.

All I’m seeing in the several statements out today is how great his meeting with Tech was. Where is the stuff about how excited he is to play for Texas? Not feeling good about this.
It's from a Tech site. What exactly did you expect? "It's down to Texas vs. Tech, but he really fucking hates Lubbock." - Don't be this dense man.

We really think a change.com petition is going to move the needle? Like said upthread, feels very aggy. Should we go tweet at him how much we need him too?
I understand what his commitment means to the program but I have a hard time seeing this being a differentiator...

If you don't want to sign it, don't sign it. Otherwise, don't bitch about it. Fucking pussies.

Since this is a charity does this mean that the financial statements must be made public?
Everything will be fully transparent. For those interested in participating - please feel free to dm me and we'll get your contact information.

Wait did I miss somewhere that Clark Field is officially paying players $100k per year? Is that all scholarship football players or what?
Clark Field Collective is totally separate from Pancake Factory and HWH.
